Chapter 50: Chapter 50

Tyler and Bertha greeted me after a short flight back to New York. Bertha's baby bump grew larger during my absence. Tyler assisted me with all of my belongings before we went to my apartment. It's close to the university, so I can easily go back and forth to gather my lecture notes, and it's much easier for me to get into my job at the boutique I'll eventually leave. I've been thinking about it recently, and I've decided to leave José's boutique shop in order to protect its reputation from the negative publicity I've received.

I don't want to tarnish the boutique's reputation in front of others. I just want it to be as good as possible.

The entire ride to my apartment was pleasant and felt distant. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on, but when I noticed Tyler's hand wasn't on Bertha's tummy, I knew. They're fighting.

I just played with an app on my phone to keep myself entertained, even though I'm trying hard not to smile because I can tell Tyler is on the wrong side of their argument right now. They're basically ignoring each other, which is awkward, so I just asked Bertha about random things.

"Do you think happy endings are good, Bertha?" I asked, my gaze fixed on my phone.

"It's not always good," she said calmly, but with a hint of rage in her voice. "Happy endings are just made up as a concept for people to anticipate and crave for what's at the end of their story."

Her side is too pronounced. Perhaps they had a particularly heated argument. I remained silent after what I asked until the car came to a stop in front of a six-story building. It's spacious, and there are only a few floors, which pleased me because the rooftop is so low. Tyler handed me the key to my assigned room on the fourth floor as we entered the elevator. They're still not talking, and I'm sure they're just protecting their pride.

When we got out of the elevator, I ran to find my room and was overjoyed when I saw the right door for me. I was astounded by how well-organized it is as I opened it. It's a small bow of an apartment with a small bathroom and kitchen on the right side and a loft bed above my study/living room. Drawers line the left-hand corner of the room.

"Well, this is a good place to start," I exclaimed as I assisted Tyler in moving all of my belongings. Bertha simply sat in the living room to rest.

Tyler lay beside his wife after we put all of my belongings inside, but I can still see how far apart they are from each other as I tried to bring them closer, they just don't seem to be in the mood for reconciling with each other so I just let them be after I got tired of trying different ways to get their attention.

It's already 9 p.m., and they've left me alone in my new apartment. I wouldn't mind inviting other people inside now that I have my own personal space. I was always worried about how I should react to inviting some of my university colleagues because they knew Tyler and me.

For my first meal here, I just ordered a whole of pizza and large with a coke. As I get my order from the delivery guy, I closed the door and put on my headphones on to watch some movie without any interruption. I'm starting to like the movie when my phone call got me distracted again.

It's Kendric. He's been messaging me however I apparently can't be aware since I've been the entire time.

"Hey love," he welcomed.

"How's your day?" I out of nowhere inquired.

"I want to find out whether you're okay now there at your loft," he said yet his voice has been sounding so worn out.

"Are you okay?" I inquired.

"Try not to mind me," he unexpectedly said feebly.

"What befell you?" I overreacted a bit.

"I'm somewhat drained from all the issue here in my organization," he began to let me know what's going on including about his companion who sold out him only for cash and one more worker who attempted to hack their financial balances from their money office. I'm simply hearing every one of his tirades the entire time.

"I want to see you now," I tragically said before I moved to sofa close to the window. Similarly as I move, the downpour unexpectedly started.

"It's pouring!" I energetically said.

"You actually love downpour I surmise," he said.

"Is it pouring there?" I abruptly inquired.

"Only a tad," he said.

"Heads up, affection!" I energetically welcomed him.

"What did you say?" He inquired.

At the point when I understood what I said, I covered my mouth and panted. He on the other line laughed.

"You cause me to feel re-energize with that adoration," he said with substantially more vivacious voice.

Into my shock, I finished the call. Wow!

What did I simply say?
