Chapter 2: Chapter 2

I obey, although with some anger at his clear freedom when it comes to relating to me. As soon as I hear the click that my seat belt makes when it is fastened, the sound of the car's engine makes its presence known and he accelerates, his gaze fixed on the road. I watch as he surrounds the circular marble fountain in front of the house and slows down as he approaches the trellis. Another of the guards approaches, opens that black gate and he accelerates again, leaving the street. I hear the creak of the metal fences behind me and the clash between them, closing off the only entrance to the house. I watch the unknown boy for several seconds through the rearview mirror and look down when I feel the vibration of my cell phone on my legs.

- We arrived (he says suddenly, startling me).

I look around and quickly recognize the faculty campus. I am amazed at the fact that I have been so distracted with my phone and not have noticed the route of that trip that always usually lasts more than ten minutes. He turns off the engine and gets out of the car, opening my door seconds later. I take my vintage backpack, get out of the vehicle and then close it again.

May: I go out at two (I say while putting my cell phone away).

- I still have to wait here.

May: Are you going to wait more than five hours?

He nods.

May: What for?

- They demand that of me.

May (bufo): You can go for me. It's no use to me that you're here.

- I can not.

May: Why? (I ask raising my eyebrows).

- They would fire me.

May: If they found out, but they won't. Trust me.

- Really?

May: Yes, obviously. Go.

He smiles again and my eyes are fixed on him. I don't know why I do it, if I always "mistreated" the employees of the house, excluding Luisa.

- Thank you (says something shy).

May: You're welcome (I answer, leaving).

Having already walked several steps, I turn around and watch him as he takes off his jacket to leave it in the back seat, being left alone in a white shirt. He unbuttons the cuffs and rolls up the sleeves almost to the elbows, also loosening the knot on his embroidered tie. He tousles his hair a little, letting a light fringe fall over his forehead and gets in the car. I turn around again when he starts the engine, to avoid him seeing me as he passes. Seconds later the car no longer appears in my sight.

I walk up the long stairs that lead into the medical school of one of the most expensive universities in the country. I'm about to reach the door when someone pulls my arm.

May: Oh, idiot ...

Mine: ... that you are.

May: Hello no?

He laughs and greets me.

Mia: But you really didn't see me? What are you blind?

May: I am asleep.

Mine: Mmm ... to look at that boy you weren't so asleep.

May: What? (He asked with a frown).

Mia (laughs): Nothing, come on.

In the free time I have in the middle of the day, it is not difficult for me to notice how someone is staring at me from the other end of the cafeteria and it is not difficult to recognize it either. The hairstyle he wears and the way he dresses are something very typical of him and unmistakable even from several meters away. He's Agustín, the shy, nerdy boy I always run into in the lab. When he realizes that I have already noticed his gaze, he turns and lowers his head, pretending to eat. Although I always denied it, I think I am beginning to accept Mía's theory that she likes me.

- Here I am (says sitting in front of me).

May: It was about time lentil.

Mine: The line is longer than the anatomy teacher's whiskers, what do you want me to do?

I laugh at his comment and open my bottle of mineral water.

Mía: He looks at you again (comments with a gesture with his eyes towards Agustín).

May: Yes, I know.

Mía: On the way out, do we go to the beach?

I remember my hateful reality from today. I no longer just have one of Dad's drivers behind me, but a bodyguard whose job is nothing more and nothing less than following me wherever I go. Going to the beach is no longer another escape from home, but it implies going with him and having him stay there, waiting for us and making it clear that he is not just a bitter driver, but something much worse. I don't want Mia to find out about that. I don't want anyone to find out, it would be a joke.

Mine: I take that silence as a yes (he says out of nowhere, surprising me).

May: What? No, it's that I ...

Mine: You nothing. Come on yes or yes.

He adds and then takes another bite of his sandwich, while my head is tortured, trying to find some way to hide that I have a bodyguard and that coincidentally is the boy I was looking at so much, whose name I don't even know.
