Chapter 84: Chapter 84

Chapter 84 Interrogation

What? Edward wanted to see her?

Lanny found it funny. She had not even attempted to go to him with the DNA test result to argue, and he had already come to her. That was interesting.

"Do you know I am his ex-wife?" she cleared her throat and tried to sound calm.

"Of course, I know." The man said as he pulled the curtain off the floor-to-ceiling window, blocking the full summer sun and throwing the entire room into darkness.

"In that case, why don't you let me go?" she snorted.

"Sorry. He is not meeting you as your ex-husband this time."

His reply made Lanny's heart go cold. She knew what it meant. Edward was going to meet her as the Alpha. So the meeting was going to occur between the master and the subject.

Lanny squirmed restlessly on the bed as she tried to break free from the handcuffs. She was feeling irritated and her breathing becomes more rapid and sweating started.

Soon, she heard the door lock turn and, with a squeak, Edward pushed the door open. She stopped struggling and quietly looked in Edward's direction.

From her vision, Edward looked much taller than before, almost like a giant.

He strode steadily toward her as his shoes clashed on the floor and made a crisp sound. Lanny's heartbeat increased with each footstep he took toward her.

Edward stopped near the bed, and the man helped him with the chair. Edward sat on the chair and glared at Lanny, who was lying almost naked on the bed.

She could not see his expression in the dim light, but his eyes, like those of a predator, bore into her soul even in the obscure light and gave off a dangerous vibe.

Lanny felt uncomfortable under his direct gaze as she swallowed nervously and spoke first to break the ice.

"This is not the normal way for an ex-husband to meet his ex-wife. It's not funny at all." A dry laugh escaped her throat.

"Forget about our damn marriage. I have a serious business with you." Edward replied coldly.

"What's that?" Lanny pretended to look surprised.

"Don't play dumb. What was the purpose of your investigation into my identity? Just how much are you cooperating with the Garcia family?"

The question baffled Lanny as she rolled her eyes and thought for a long time, but she still did not understand what he meant. She was investigating his identity to force him to remarry her. As for the Garcia family, she only had a little dealing with them at work.

"I don't understand what you mean?"

"You are still playing dumb. You already know that I was not disabled and appeared in the company as the new president with a mask. Do you still have the DNA result sheet, or did you give it to the Garcia bastards? Hmm?!" He spoke fast and there was urgency in his voice. He was almost yelling at the end, which produced a powerful sound, and the window glass vibrated.

Lanny was so scared that she had goose bumps all over her body. She shook her head frantically and denied his accusation. "I want to be with you since you're not lame and broke. Why don't we get back together? We love each other so much that nothing can stop us. As for the Garcia family, I don't understand what you're talking about."

Her nonsense enraged Edward. He leaped from his chair and choked her as he gripped her neck.

"Tell me! What are your intentions?!" his mouth opened to reveal his sharp fangs as his eyes widened.

Laney could not help but tremble under his gaze as she felt scared out of her soul.

She peed on the bed, which made her feel unbelievably disgusted.

"I...I just wanted to use your secret to get Bella away from you and...and make you come back to me. Other than that, I don't know anything...anything about what you are talking about. Please let me go." She stammered.

It was the first time she had seen such a ferocious side of Edward. She would have never dared to covet him if she had known that he was so scary.

Edward frowned and looked disgustingly at the urine-soaked marks on the bed sheet, then released his grip on her neck.

"Where is that DNA test result sheet?"

"In the bedside table in room 903."

"Where's the money?" Edward's eyes narrowed at her.

He had not made a trip just to get the DNA result back, but he also wanted to investigate Bob's case.

"What money?" Lanny looked at him with suspicion.

"The money Bob had with him on that night."

"I don't understand what you mean." Lanny's eyes widened, but she still feigned innocence.

"It's okay if you don't confess. I'll take you back to Los Angeles and hand you over to the police."

"Jack, come with me." He stood up and said to his man.

Both of them left the room and stood in the hallway smoking.

"Alpha, do you believe her?" Jack asked.

Edward tapped the ash from his cigarette and smiled contemptuously. "This woman doesn't know how to lie. I believe she is not a spy. She is strong on the outside but lacks intelligence. The Garcias won't be that stupid to let her be the spy."

"I see." Jack nodded.

"I'll go to the room and find the DNA results. You keep an eye on her. We'll take the four o'clock flight back to Los Angeles." Edward instructed and left.

In the room, Lanny smelled Edward's scent fading away, which confirmed that he had left while the man named Jack was still at the door.

"Jack! Can you come in here for a minute? I need your help." Lanny shouted.

Jack went inside and saw Lanny smiling at him.

"Jack, I know it's almost time to leave. But I need to take a dump now. It's urgent. Can you open the handcuffs, please?" she begged pitifully.

Jack gave her a sharp look and refused.

"Do you want to clean my ass later? I am sure you don't want to do that. Besides, I will not leave your sight." She continued to plead.

"Fine. But you have to hurry." Jack reluctantly took out the key and walked toward her.

Lanny's eyes were fixed on his hands. She knocked him down with a punch when he unlocked the handcuffs. Then she shifted into her wolf form and rushed to the floor-to-ceiling window.

With a crash, the glass of the floor-to-ceiling window broke and Lanny swooped downward. The broken glass fragments pierced her body and covered her with blood.

She fell to the ground with a loud noise. Fortunately, the area was a private garden with soft plantations, preventing significant injuries.

"She escaped from the window. Get her!"

Lanny heard Edward and Jack's voices from upstairs as they were coming after her.

She shifted back into her human form and ran towards the sea.

Escaping into the sea was the only way to cut the chase because water would mask her scent.

The crowd on the beach was frightened and dispersed away by her naked and blood-covered appearance.

One or two daring guys came up and tried to talk with her.

"Hey! Didn't you leave with a young man just now? Why do you look like this now? What's going on? Do you want us to call the police?"

Ignoring the talks and the shouts behind her, she quickly passed through the crowd. She jumped straight into the sea and swam directly into the depths.

Soon, Edward and Jack traced her scent to the beach.

Lanny's blood had dyed the water along with the shore light red, making it easy to find her location based on her blood trail.

Jack took off his clothes and was about to jump into the sea to get her back when four or five men came around and stopped him.

"Bro, what are you doing?" one man asked.

"Are you guys chasing that woman?"

"If you dare to hurt a woman in broad daylight, we'll call the police."

One of those men grabbed Jack's arm and warned him not to act rashly.

Jack backhanded him and knocked him to the ground.

The remaining men gathered around, ready to attack as they clenched their fists.

"Come on! Man!" Jack shouted with his high fighting spirit.

"Jack, calm down. Don't waste your time here. Let's go back to Los Angeles first. As for her, she can't get away with her wings." Edward patted Jack's shoulder.

Edward and Jack left under the watchful eyes of the crowd.

Lanny, hiding in the water, heard all that happened on the shore.

Hearing their footsteps fading away, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

As she was about to surface, a sharp pain shot in her lower abdomen as blood continued to flow from her lower region, and the seawater surrounding her stained red.

Oh no! She had a miscarriage.
