Chapter 80: Chapter 80

Chapter 80 Parent's Care

The room was dimly lit as the curtains were drawn to block the harsh afternoon sunlight.

Bella was lying in bed with her eyes closed as she had a headache.

It felt like a little man with a hammer was hitting her nerves and causing her a headache. She tried to breathe as steadily as possible to avoid provoking the "little man."

But when she did not pay attention, memories of last night's accident filled her mind along with the fragmented sounds and images.

She found connecting the sounds and images challenging to form a complete picture. She tried many times but failed. Every time she tried to remember, her headache would get worse.

Bella heard tiny footsteps outside the living room, followed by the sound of talking. Bella recognized the voices and realized that the Whites were talking to Edward.

Whatever they were talking about, she heard it word to word.

They were there to see her, and it somewhat overwhelmed her.

Only a short time ago, she had decided to sever ties with her parents, and then suddenly, they came over to show that they cared.

She was struggling whether or not to forgive them, as she had always been a person who dared to love and hate. Once she decided on something, she would not change her mind quickly.

Bella was still lost in her thoughts when she heard the door lock turn.

"Bella," Edward called out softly.

"Honey, I just woke up." Bella slowly opened her eyes and smiled at Edward.

"Your parents are here to see you. Can they come in?"

Bella hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded.

Edward turned to Mr. and Mrs. White, waiting outside the door, and let them in.

Edward left the room after Mr. and Mrs. White entered it to give them some private space with their daughter.

Mrs. White immediately rushed over and sat on the bedside stool. She held onto Bella's hands as she saw how frail Bella looked.

The moment her eyes met with Bella's, she could not stop the string of tears rolling down her face.

"Bella, are you okay? My good daughter, you've suffered." Mr. White stood beside Mrs. White with his eyes full of concern.

Bella looked at them with a bewildered look of disbelief. Initially, she wanted to have a calm and good conversation with them. But she was wrong, and she could not help but feel angry at that moment.

How could they keep changing their characters so quickly?

The parents she remembered were always unsmiling and barking at her.

And now, sitting in front of her, they seemed genuinely concerned about her.

'They are simply actor material.' Her eyes could not help but squint a little at the thought.

"I'm fine." She said sarcastically and shrugged off Mrs. White's hand.

She was not fucking fine at all! Not only did she have a headache, but she felt nauseous and wanted to vomit.

"You're not happy to see us, aren't you?" Mrs. White asked cautiously as she sensed Bella's mood.

"Yes, you guys are making it hard for me," Bella said, gritting her teeth. "I just heard it all. You guys are extremely irresponsible by blaming Lanny for all the indifference you've shown me!"

Mr. and Mrs. White bowed their heads, feeling ashamed.

"As parents, it is your responsibility to educate your children. And what did you do? You not only let Lanny do whatever she wanted, but you also deliberately left me alone. You said it was for my good. I'm sorry. I can't understand it at all. If it was for my good, then you should have restrained Lanny!"

Bella complained tearfully. The overwhelming emotions aggravated her headache, which made her feel like an ax had split open her head.

"I'm sorry, Bella, we want to make up for the wrongdoings." Mrs. White tried to hug Bella, but she pushed her away.

"Get out!"

Edward heard the noise in the room and rushed in.

"What's happening?" he saw Bella screaming hysterically while the Whites stood by helplessly.

"Edward, tell them to leave!" Bella shouted as she held her head.

"Please leave. You are not welcome here." Edward ordered in a low, magnetic voice. His tone had an unquestionable zeal.

After sending the Whites away, Edward returned to his room only to see Bella sitting on the bed with her head in her hands as she kept pulling her hair.

He rushed over to her and, pulling her hands away. He forced her to meet his eyes.

"Bella, don't torture yourself. Please tell me what's bothering you so much and let me help you, okay?"

Hearing her husband's soothing voice, Bella stared blankly straight ahead as her mind searched for the words to describe her thoughts at that moment. After a minute or two, she spoke slowly.

"I'm used to holding back, and this is the first time I've let it out. I should have controlled myself, but their presence kept getting on my nerves. They pulled my strings so hard that eventually, I snapped and it hurt them. But it wasn't my fault. It was their fault. They did it." Bella laughed bitterly and shook her head in despair.

"Do you think I'm crazy? Because I feel like I'm going crazy. I've been trying so hard to make everything better. But in the end, things only get worse. Maybe I didn't do enough. If I had let Bob get in the car, he wouldn't have been run over."

Bella kept babbling and gradually, her voice got smaller, finally turning into a whimper.

"I understand. You're not as strong as you appear. You have vulnerabilities, fears, and resentments too. But in front of me, you can let it out and show me your soft side. I'll always support you."

Bella leaned on Edward's shoulder and cried, just as she had when they first met.

"Do you remember the first words I told you? Any sad girl should have a shoulder to rely on." Edward gently stroked her hair.

Edward's touch worked wonders as Bella gradually regained her composure, and she stopped crying.

"I feel so useless. I don't know how to erase the memory of that car accident." She mumbled as if she was talking to herself.

"Don't worry. I'll hire a psychiatrist for you tomorrow. It might help you get through it." Edward softly kissed her forehead.
