Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Chapter 62 Mate in Danger
A black Bugatti was parked outside the Queen's Bar, the liveliest bar in Los Angeles City. Inside the luxury car, Andrew and the president patiently waited after trailing Bella and her colleagues all the way there.
"Boss, should we go in now?" Andrew asked.
"No," the president answered without batting an eye, staring at the bar's entrance. "Let her have her fun. We'll just wait here."
"How long should we wait here then?"
"Until they come out."
Andrew nodded and pressed his lips together. He could not help thinking about how much the president had changed since marrying Bella.
'The president was just an emotionless machine before. Who would have thought he would become the most affectionate husband ever?' Andrew pondered.
With that thought in mind, Andrew continued to wait outside the bar with the president. They remained in silence and with severe expressions on their faces. Anyone who would see them at that moment would undoubtedly be intimidated and would not dare to come close.
Amid the waiting game, an intense stab of pain suddenly pierced through the president's heart. He immediately put a hand on his chest. His breathing became ragged as he tried to endure the overwhelming pain, and at the same time, he heard his wolf growl in his head, 'Danger! Our mate is in danger!'
The president's pupils dilated as he jolted from his seat. He noticed how Bella's scent was gradually fading.
'Bella's being taken away!' he mentally snapped, then turned to Andrew, who was immediately on alert.
"Let's go! Bella's in danger!" The president's voice trembled slightly.
Andrew froze for a second before hurriedly opening the door to get out of the car. That was the first time he had seen the president lose control of his emotions, and he knew something big was bound to happen.
Pressed for time, the president briskly walked out of the car. The dark aura he exuded immediately caught the attention of the people around the bar.
"Is that guy going for a drink?"
"He looks like Keanu Reeves from The Matrix."
"Yeah, I don't think he's going for a drink. It seems like he's looking for a fight instead."
Although those people lowered their voices as much as possible, the president heard every word that came out of their mouths. As the powerful Alpha, he had enhanced senses, allowing him to hear even a pin drop.
However, the president could not care less. He walked straight into the bar, completely packed as the party was at its peak.
The large crowd did not intimidate the president. He passed by the crowd without slowing down. He did not bother calling out women who shamelessly stared at him.
On the other hand, Andrew followed closely behind him. His eyes wandered around the bar, searching for Bella when he spotted her colleagues instead.
"Boss! Jenny and Kelvin are on the dance floor!" Andrew leaned closer to tell the president, ensuring he would be heard. "Mrs. Bella must be there, too!"
At that moment, the president managed to locate where Bella's scent lingered. He knew better that Bella did not leave their table to dance. That was not her thing to do.
"No. She was there," he coldly said, then effortlessly slipped through the crowd until he reached the corner.
There were three glasses on the table and a bottle of wine. The president peered closely and moved his finger smoothly on the spilled wine. He lifted it close to his nose, and his eyes widened upon smelling the unusual content.
"What happened here?" Andrew unconsciously whispered, seeing the mess.
The president picked up the empty glass at the side. He sniffed the rim and confirmed that it was Bella's. He also recognized the same drug he discovered on the spilled wine.
Confirming that Bella was drugged helplessly, the president completely lost his control. His eyes turned bloodshot, his sharp claws and fangs took shape, and shaggy brown hairs grew on his limbs.
The bar was in chaos after the people witnessed the president's shift. They fled out of the establishment, running for their lives.
Frozen on the side, Andrew looked so terrified. His whole body trembled in fear as he stared at his boss, who suddenly turned into a frightening wolf.
The president, who had shifted into his wolf form, jumped in the air. His heightened senses guided him to find Bella. He pounced on the wall, which created a big hole and revealed a secret room inside the bar.
Without ado, the brown wolf went through the gap and caught two men pressing against Bella's body while trying to rip her clothes apart.
"She's mine!" he yelled, sending out strong sound waves that shook the room.
Hearing his roar, the two men stopped what they were doing and turned their heads to him. Their faces instantly turned white in fear.
"What the... What in the world...." The brunet stammered, then turned to his friend, who looked like he was about to faint.
"Go away!" The wolf growled and started moving closer.
The brunet frantically pulled a gun out from his pocket and aimed at the wolf. "If you can u-understand human language, g-get your ass back to the forest, or we'll finish you off with a gun!"
The wolf ignored his threat and slapped the gun away.
Before the brunet could say another word, he had his throat cut by the wolf's sharp claw. Blood trickled down his neck and stained his shirt. Two seconds later, he fell to the floor, lifeless.
After seeing his friend's tragic fate, the blond quickly dropped his knees to the ground. He tried to apologize and beg the wolf for mercy, but it was all too late. His neck was snapped like a twig, and his body fell beside the brunet in a split second.
Once he was done dealing with the two, the president gradually returned to his human form. He then carefully walked over to Bella, took her in his arms, and gently caressed her face.
There were stains of dried tears on Bella's face and two more bruises on her chin, showing her struggles. Her blouse had been torn open, and her bra was also pushed up, revealing her breasts.
Fortunately, her pants were still intact. If he had come a minute later, he knew he would regret it for the rest of his life.
With tears in his eyes, the president pressed his lips on her forehead and murmured, "I'm sorry I was late. I failed to protect you."
