Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Chapter 61 Here came the danger
The sun had completely set at six in the evening. All the Skytel employees started to leave the building, but not a single soul in the president's office moved to get off work.
By that time, the president should already be rushing on his way home and getting ready to transition as Edward, but he could not bear the thought of Bella and Kelvin alone in the office.
While patiently waiting for Bella to finish her work, a sudden knock on the door broke the silence inside the office.
Bella immediately stood up to open the door, and Jenny showed up with a meaningful smile.
"Are you two done with work? Let's go to the bar tonight! My treat!" Jenny enthusiastically invited Bella and Kelvin, and it was already late for her to see the president, who was starting to lose his hard-earned patience.
'You better not go, Bella,' the president mentally said as his jaw clenched.
Silence reigned inside the office once Jenny had locked eyes with the president. She could not help but shiver and have the urge to run away to save herself from the possible wrath that was about to unleash.
Jenny had never seen the president exude such an intimidating and suffocating aura. She could almost see the frown and sharp gaze under his mask.
She stared uneasily at her toes, rubbed her hands together, and gathered enough courage to break the deadlock. "Hello, President, aren't you going home yet?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Bella and Kelvin looked at her in surprise.
Jenny covered her mouth at once, realizing how stupid she was for acting as she could easily start a conversation with the uptight president.
'He'll surely fire me,' she thought as she chewed on her lips in anxiety.
"Uh, I'm sorry, President. I hope I'm not disturbing your work. I'm just here to see Bella and Kelvin," Jenny added, praying that she could still stay at the company after what she did.
The president simply nodded and averted his gaze to her surprise, minding his own business.
The three breathed a sigh of relief. They exchanged looks before stepping out of the office to continue their conversation.
"Phew! I thought I was already done for," Jenny said, then flashed a bright smile once she had recovered from pressure. "Right! About what I said earlier, Bella, we should go to the club tonight and celebrate Kelvin's employment here at Skytel!"
Bella quickly understood Jenny's intention when she gave her "that" look. Obviously, she only wanted to spend more time with Kelvin and ask him out.
"Sorry, Jenny, I'm afraid I can't come tonight. You can go with Kelvin," Bella rejected her invitation.
Aside from supporting Jenny's intentions, there was no way Bella could leave Edward behind and go to a bar. She also did not want him worrying about her safety.
Jenny was very pleased with Bella's answer. She subtly gave her a wink.
"I think you should come with us, Bella," Kelvin voiced his opinion. "You looked stressed earlier. You can use this time to chill and recuperate."
"Kelvin's right," Jenny echoed, changing her mind in a split second to favor Kelvin.
Bella forced out a smile. "Thanks for your concern, but my husband is waiting for me at home."
"I'm sure your husband will understand unless he doesn't trust you," Kelvin said, followed by an intense curiosity to see what kind of man a beauty like her married. "Kidding aside, why don't you invite him to join us? I'm looking forward to meeting him."
Bella was tempted to defend Edward, but she knew better than to tell everyone that her husband was disabled. She did not want people to think less of him. Besides, she was certain that Kelvin meant no offense.
"Okay... I'll come with you," she eventually said, unable to refuse people again. "I have to call him first and tell him I'm coming home late."
Bella then took out her phone and dialed Edward's number, and the next second, she slightly froze when she heard a faint ring coming from the president's office.

The moment his phone rang and echoed in the quiet office, the president's eyes widened as he panicked. He almost threw the phone out of the window.
He knew Bella was just right outside the office. The door was not tightly shut, and he was sure that his wife had heard the phone.
The panic lasted only a second as he quickly thought of a plan. He turned the silent mode on, then pressed the phone against his ears and spoke loudly to act like he was talking about business.
Once he had established his alibi, the president pretended to continue speaking while he went out of the office and passed by Bella. He went straight to his private elevator with hurried steps and closed the door.
'I hope she didn't suspect anything...' he thought as he put the phone down with a heavy sigh.

The three could not help but burst into laughter after the nerve-racking situation. They all froze and turned mute when they heard the president's phone ring as soon as Bella called her husband.
"That almost made me faint! I thought the president's your husband!" Jenny hilariously laughed.
Although she felt slightly uneasy, Bella shrugged the coincidence away and laughed it off with Jenny and Kelvin.
After settling down and fixing their things, Bella went to Queen's Bar with her two colleagues. The establishment was just two blocks away from Skytel, it was not a long drive.
As soon as Bella entered the bar, she was overwhelmed by the strong smell of perfume and alcohol inside. The strobe lights hurt her eyes so she could not open them properly to survey the place.
Fortunately, Jenny was with her. She held her hand as they navigated their way out of the crowd.
Kelvin was also excited to lead the two women with her. He was so familiar with it that one could not help but suspect he was a regular.
Unbeknownst to Bella, all eyes of the men around the bar were glued on her everywhere she passed by. She was immediately the center of attention with her irresistible charm and ethereal beauty.
Once the three colleagues had finally found an empty table in a corner, they ordered only a bottle of wine as they still had to drive home. Kelvin and Jenny looked like they were in their element, while Bella was still reserved as she looked at the dance floor.
It was not long after when Jenny invited them to the dance. Bella declined the invitation and decided to stay at their table, while Kelvin willingly went to the dance floor with Jenny.
After Jenny and Kelvin left, Bella was left alone in that dimly lit corner, shaking her glass and occasionally surveying the people and objects around her, feeling a little lost, she couldn't find a trace of pleasure in her drinking. She pursed her lips and blankly stared at the untouched wine glass in front. She seemed so out of place, and she could only think of going home to her husband and reading a book together before going to sleep.
Just as she was about to pull her phone out and see if Edward had already replied to her messages, two tall men suddenly walked up to her-one had light hair and fair skin, while the other had dark hair and tanned skin.
"Hey, beautiful, are you alone?" The blond stole her attention as he moved closer. "Do you need some company?"
Bella became wary of the two strangers. "No, I'm going home." She stood up and tried to leave, but the two only blocked her way out.
"Oh, c'mon! Why don't you come with us instead, Miss?" The brunet said to Bella, then bobbed his head to the blond one. "His father is the head of the Police Department. If you sleep with us tonight, we'll surely pay you a huge sum."
Bella broke into a cold sweat as her hands started trembling in fear. She could not help but regret her decision to come with Jenny and Kelvin. She was no match for these two men.
"No. I'm not interested." Bella still tried to keep her calm as she rejected them and pushed them away, but to no avail.
The blond moved to push Bella back on her seat while the other quickly drugged the wine in front of Bella.
Bella was terrified to see everything. She struggled and tried to call for help. However, Jenny and Kelvin had already disappeared into the sea of the crowd on the dance floor.
As Bella resisted, the blond forced her to part her lips. A hot liquid then started traveling down her throat as the brunet poured the wine into her mouth.
The alcohol simmered uncomfortably in her stomach as she began to feel dizzy. Bella tried to stay awake but eventually lost the fight when the drug took over her consciousness.
