Chapter 55: Chapter 55
Chapter 55 A Thrilling Night
Lanny walked to the door of the president's office and unlocked it with her fingerprint. She then stepped into the room, the office where she had worked six months ago as a secretary to Edward when he was still the president.
At that time, Lanny and David were having an affair when David was still married to Bella. Through David's endorsement, she got the opportunity to work at Skytel.
On Lanny's first day at the company, she met Edward while dining in the restaurant.
"Mate!" That was the first word Edward had ever said to her.
Edward fell in love at first sight and invited her to be his secretary. Although Lanny knew in her heart that she was not his mate, she enjoyed the special treatment and took advantage of him.
It was not long after Edward proposed to her and promised to give her $200 million after the wedding. And with money as the deciding factor, Lanny happily agreed and broke up with David.
However, for some reason, Edward's attitude toward her changed drastically after the wedding. He stopped shopping with her, asking for kisses and even sex.
They never had sex, even during their first night as a married couple. Later on, Edward went to great lengths to fake an incident to get rid of her.
Edward met Bella at their wedding. Between her and her younger sister, he obviously chose the latter.
Just thinking about that, anger flared in Lanny's chest. She clenched her fists, vowing to take back what was once hers.
Just as Lanny had turned on the lights to search for evidence, she suddenly sensed someone fast approaching the office, which pushed her on edge. She could not let anyone find out she was there.
Feeling threatened, Lanny stretched her sharp claws. She knew that she could kill an adult male even with one blow. However, she immediately withdrew them as she dismissed the idea.
Starting a murder in the president's office would bring her endless trouble. So having no other choice left, Lanny hid inside the office's powder room and locked the door.

"Is someone here?" A middle-aged woman with a cleaning cart shouted toward the office, but the only response was the echo of her voice. "Hmm... Why are the lights still on?" she muttered as she moved toward the powder room.
The woman pushed the door, but it would not budge. She wondered why it was locked when it was always open every time she would go-rounds to clean on the 49th floor.
"Is the door broken? Is someone in here?" The woman creased her forehead and continued pounding on the door, each knock making Lanny's heart beat louder and louder.
Fortunately, after a few attempts, the woman finally gave up and took out her cell phone to call the security guard on duty to come up and check the door.
Lanny, behind the door, heard the whole conversation. Her heart beat so fast that it almost popped out of her chest. She held her breath, not daring to make a sound. If she were caught red-handed, she would be the laughing stock of the entire company, and her plan would go down the drain.
Lanny played with her fingers out of anxiety. She wanted to rush out and tear that stinking woman apart, but she restrained herself from causing further trouble.
Two minutes later, a man's voice came from outside the door, and Lanny guessed it might be the building's security guard. The heavy footsteps came closer and closer, and Lanny could not help but release her claws out of desperation to get out of that predicament.
Like the cleaner did earlier, the male security guard pushed the door hard, but it still would not open.
"You can force the door open," the woman suggested from the side.
The guard did not make a sound, considering the stupid suggestion.
'You better not do that, or you'll die in my hands,' Lanny thought to herself, waiting for the next move of the two individuals outside the door.
At that moment, the door received another bang.
Lanny emitted an intense killing aura around her body, which made the two people outside the door feel chills running down their spines as the temperature inside the office plummeted.
The security and the cleaner exchanged cautious glances and decided not to make any rash moves.
"I think it's better to have the maintenance guy look at the door tomorrow," the guard said to the woman.
"Okay... But what about the sanitation?"
"Just clean around the office for now, and let's explain what happened tomorrow."
Hearing the conversation, Lanny breathed a sigh of relief. She hid her claws and patiently waited in the powder room for them to finish cleaning.
After five minutes more of torture, Lanny finally heard their footsteps fading away as they left the office. Once she had ensured they were out of the vicinity, she carefully went out of the powder room.
Carrying out her plans for that night, Lanny searched almost every corner and finally found a short strand of hair under the sofa. She then carefully picked up the strand with tweezers and put it into a small transparent plastic bag before sealing it.

After receiving his assignment from Lanny, Bob lurked around Bella's house the following day, waiting for the right moment. Once the couple had left the house unattended, he seized the opportunity and looked for an opening to enter.
Fortunately, there was an accessible window, which was big enough for him to fit.
Bob was about to sneak through the window when a large hand yanked him back. He turned his head around, and his face instantly turned white when he saw the same man who picked Edward up every day.
The two-meter-tall man towered over Bob. His fitted shirt hugged his muscles, especially his biceps. He easily lifted Bob with one hand, and his sharp gaze pierced through Bob's soul.
"What are you doing here?" the man lowly growled.
Bob quivered with fear. He raised his trembling hands and tried to beg for mercy, but nervousness blocked the words in his throat.
Unable to defend himself, Bob was thrown to the ground the next second. It was then followed by solid punches, which broke his ribs and immobilized him.
Bob struggled to move and fight back for his life. He could not even scream for help as he was preoccupied with the intense pain surging in his body.
The man beat him close to death until he could not feel anything. The constant pain numbed his body.
It was not long after Bob lost consciousness. The man picked him up, carried him like an empty sack, and threw him to a nearby dump.
