Chapter 41: Chapter 41
Chapter 41 The Gift
At 10 a.m, Andrew was given two tasks. One was to look for a professional doctor to provide Edward with a forged medical file, and the second was to go to Chinese Street to buy the most high-end Chinese porcelain.
Andrew lived in a small house one kilometer away from Edward's house; this was so that he could be ready to deal with unexpected situations without being discovered by Bella because he lived too close.
After receiving the assignment, he immediately left the training ground, rushed home, changed into a casual outfit, and set out to find the doctor and the porcelain.
Andrew drove an hour to Leonard Hospital in Benguela City.
Many years ago, Dr. Leonard followed many other werewolves in the pack to human cities to seek fortune and opened a private hospital in Benguela City, which was quite famous in the industry.
Like all the werewolves who went out to start their own business, Dr. Leonard still maintained loyalty to Alpha Edward and the pack. So when Andrew announced Edward's name, Dr. Leonard got down on one knee and took a solemn oath to show his unconditional obedience to the Alpha.
Soon, Andrew was given a forged medical file, which recorded:
Name: Edward Wilson
Gender: Male
Description: Multiple shots to the legs, nerve necrosis in the legs.
Andrew carefully scrutinized with a frown on his face, while Dr. Leonard trembled as he waited for Andrew to speak.
"Here, the bullets should be labeled as silver bullets. Werewolves are only afraid of silver because ordinary bullets can't hurt werewolves at all." Andrew pointed his finger at the description of the condition and said to Dr. Leonard, "Man, you have to be more careful, don't make Alpha Edward look like a fool."
The doctor hastily nodded and hurriedly re-edited a new file, checking it no less than ten times before handing it over to Andrew, "Take a look again. I promise there's nothing wrong with it this time."
Andrew checked it and nodded to the doctor in satisfaction, reminding him to keep in touch and communicate with him if anything was going on.
Leaving the hospital, Andrew drove to the most prominent Chinese street in town.
It was now 1:00 p.m. The sun was blazing, and the temperature was 30 degrees Celsius.
He inwardly grumbled that he had been asked to run from the outskirts of the city to get a forged medical file on such a hot day and then from the outskirts of the city to the Chinese street in the city to find porcelain made in the Qing Dynasty and deliver it to Bella's parents' house by 7:00 p.m.
Even during his service in the mercenary corps, he had never encountered such a difficult task.
Despite his grumbling, Andrew did not dare to slow down a bit. He walked through the bustling Chinese street, looked for antique stores one after another, and finally found a delicate porcelain vase about 60 cm high with blue and white flowers in a small store with a dusty plaque on the corner, the name of which was completely unclear.
The store owner was an old Chinese man about 70 years old, wearing a pair of presbyopic glasses, speaking a language Andrew did not understand, but he guessed it was Chinese.
Andrew asked about the vase's origin, age, and other information, but the old man was bewildered.
He sighed and decided to rely on himself.
He searched the Internet to identify the authenticity of the Chinese porcelain, carefully compared it, and finally determined that it was a real antique.
He breathed a long sigh of relief, slipped the old man a check for 50,000 dollars, took the porcelain vase back to his car, and headed for Bella's parents' house.
...
In the crowded Central Mall, Bella pushed Edward through the crowds.
Edward sensed that someone had been following them from the time they left the house, a male human, and the scent of that human had been following them.
Two months ago, he was followed by a couple of rogues - all outlaws - on his way to the police station and was attacked by them.
Since then, Edward had been on high alert for stalkers, even though the stalker was just a weak human, it still sent cold sweat straight to his back.
He squeezed the armrests of his wheelchair tightly, restraining his inner desire to tear the stalker apart.
He hated being disturbed when he was spending time with Bella.
If he weren't afraid of ruining Bella's good mood, he wouldn't have let that stalker live in the next second.
Bella took Edward straight to the porcelain boutique located on the first floor of the mall.
Bella's parents were veteran porcelain lovers, and they had collected fine porcelain from all over the world at home.
After repeated comparisons of price, appearance, and other aspects, Bella finally chose a set of Royal Dalton dinnerware.
They took the dinnerware and drove to Bella's parents' house.
Bella was both excited and nervous inside, and she repeatedly asked Edward, "Do you think they will like this gift?"
Edward patiently answered her repeatedly, "Yes, they will, and there's no reason they won't like it." His eyes looked through the front view mirror and saw a black car following them, "Bella, drive a little faster; I can't wait to visit them." He urged.
Edward and Bella didn't know that Lanny already knew their whereabouts.
Lanny looked at the "mystery detective" message with satisfaction, and a contemptuous smile appeared on her lips, "These two fools were trying to buy Mom and Dad such a cheap gift; how naive!"
She needed to teach them a lesson. She would let them know how lowly they were. No matter what gifts they gave, they would never be recognized by her parents.
Immediately afterward, she called David.
David was in Mary's bed when the call came, and the call interrupted their intense sex.
"Fuck!" David cursed, then picked up the phone, "Honey, what can I do for you? I'm with a client."
"Where are you? Come home now. We're going to visit my parents tonight," Lanny said.
David couldn't help but roll his eyes, 'This woman was bothering me for this?'
"I'm busy; I'm hanging up now," he said, not caring about his parents-in-law at all.
"Wait, Bella and Edward are going back to my parents' house tonight," Lanny said.
When he heard this news, David's eyes lit up.
Even though he didn't care about his in-laws, he did care about the 100 million dollars in their bank account.
Edward and Bella must be visiting them in the hope of getting a high inheritance.
How cunning!
To guard his parents-in-law's inheritance, he must not let Edward and Bella get their way.
He hurriedly dressed and prepared to go home, coldly refusing Mary's retention.
David muttered in his heart, 'Compared to Bella, Mary is really plain in appearance and average in figure. If other men chose between Mary and Bella, they would definitely choose Bella over Mary.'
At that moment, David smirked, 'Tonight, Bella will forget about that cripple and realize that I am the man worthy of her love.'
