Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Chapter 33 Touched

Bella struggled desperately and finally broke free. Then she lowered her head and ran home.

She ran tirelessly. After a long time, she finally saw her house.

However, when she thought she was finally safe, the door of the house fell, and a group of people in black came out.

They carried Edward and threw him into a coffin-shaped car.

That car was surprisingly small, but all of them got in it.

Bella watched them close the door and start the car.

She chased after them, but they didn't intend to stop the car.

She couldn't make a sound. They drove faster and faster, but she could only run after them in despair.

The fear of losing Edward made her forget her fatigue. There was only one thing in her mind, which was to take Edward back from the men in black.

Her feet slowly drifted over the ground. When she realized it, she found that the men's hands she had struggled to get rid of appeared around her again.

There were eyes without pupils in their palms. The hands pulled and dragged her.

She was sunk in the depth of darkness.

The scene in the dream echoed in her mind. Bella felt wide awake.

She lifted the quilt, put on her slippers, and got out of bed.

Bella left her room and came to Edward's door.

The house was quiet, and the light in the corridor shone on Bella.

She raised her hand and knocked on the door.

No one responded to her.

"Edward is sleeping soundly," Bella complained in a low voice.

However, she knew that it was time for sleeping. If it weren't for the nightmare, she wouldn't have come here.

Bella put her hand on the door handle and turned it after a moment of hesitation.

She wanted to see Edward's face, and she had never missed him so much.

The door was unlocked. Bella opened the door and walked in.

The corridor light shone into the room, and Bella looked at the bed.

She should have seen Edward lying in bed, but she only saw a neat bed.

Edward was not in the room.

She was overwhelmed by fear, and she couldn't help grabbing her collar.

Was she still in a dream?

She didn't want to have a nightmare anymore!

At this time, the dark bedroom lit up.

Bella turned around and saw Edward at the door. He was holding a crutch and taking his hand back from the light switch.

"Edward, why don't you sleep in the bedroom?" Bella felt like she had been pulled back to the ground from the air, and she felt much more relieved.

"I couldn't fall asleep, so I went for a walk in the garden." Edward noticed Bella's pale face. "What's wrong?"

"I... had a nightmare, so I came to see if you were asleep." Bella's soft voice was full of grievances, and she spoke like a spoiled child.

Edward's heart softened. He comforted her gently, "Don't be afraid. Everything in your dream is fake. It won't happen in real life."

He walked towards Bella, reached out his hand, and patted her soft hair twice. "I'll be right here with you."

Looking into his tender eyes, Bella was less anxious.

She gently nodded and said, "I'm not afraid."

She helped Edward sit on the bed, placed the crutch against the wall, and asked casually, "Why couldn't you fall asleep?"

Edward calmly replied, "You had a nightmare, and I couldn't fall asleep. There's no way to explain the two things."

Bella knew Edward was perfunctory, so she said unhappily, "I had a nightmare because a lot of unpleasant things happened recently. There must be a reason why you couldn't fall asleep."

She was sure Edward was deliberately avoiding the topic.

Bella narrowed her eyes and asked, "Edward, did you go down to practice walking?"

Edward wasn't wearing pajamas, but a set of casual clothes.

Even if he couldn't fall asleep and went for a walk, he didn't have to change his clothes.

There was only one reason why he went down, which was that he wanted to practice walking at night.

"Is this what you think?" Edward was surprised and amused.

Bella crossed her arm. It seemed that she was certain of her guess. "You want to get well soon and go to walk again, don't you?"

Edward was happy to accept Bella's guess. "It's not good to sit in a wheelchair all the time, is it?"

Bella shook her head disapprovingly and said, "But you don't have to practice walking at night. Edward, I don't want you to get hurt because of walking for too long."

Edward looked at her and said, "You had a nightmare because of what happened in the company, but now you're caring about your useless husband."

Bella's heart sank.

Edward thought he was useless, and he wanted to get well as soon as possible. He even used his sleeping time to practice walking. He must feel sorry for her because she had suffered too much.

She was moved but also distressed.

She didn't want Edward to torture himself for her.

Bella pursed her lips and said, "I like my current work and enjoy my life. Don't force yourself just because you're worried about me. Just practice at a normal pace."

Hearing her solemn tone and looking at her serious expression, Edward smiled.

He thought of his conversation with Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. Wilson believed her guess firmly.

If he didn't get along with Bella during this period, he would certainly have the same idea as his mother. He wouldn't believe that a woman who looked so fragile would have a broad mind.

Bella tilted her head and asked, "Why are you smiling? Don't you believe what I said?"

Edward smiled more brightly, "No, I'm just so happy because I married a kind-hearted wife."

Bella was stunned by his straightforward words.

Then she raised her chin proudly and said, "Of course, I am a good wife. You should have known this long ago."

Edward looked at her lovely face dotingly, "So, I have to do something for you, my dear wife. Why don't you let me sleep with you tonight?"

"Can you stop teasing me? How annoying you are!" Bella stood with her hands on her hips and complained.

His joke ruined the warm atmosphere!

Edward looked innocent. He spread his hands and said, "You had a nightmare, didn't you? My proposal is perfect, isn't it?"

Bella did not look at him but pointed to the crutch. "Is this the right time for you to think about those bad ideas? Please focus on training!"

Edward said with a playful smile, "Do you mean I can have bad ideas when I can walk without a crutch?"

"It depends on my mood. I'm not the kind of woman who can be pleased easily." Bella snorted and said.

She strode past Edward and walked out. Before leaving his room, she didn't forget to close the door.

Edward turned off the light. In the dark, he thought about Bella's proud eyes and grinned joyfully, "She has improved."
