Chapter 21: Chapter 21
Chapter 21 The Wrong Figure
In the president's office, Edward stood in front of the big French windows quietly, overlooking the prosperous city.
Andrew stood behind him and bowed his head and report his work, "Boss, the enemies are too cunning. They used more than three intermediaries to contact the killers. So far, we have not found out their real identities."
A trace of coldness flashed across Edward's eyes, "Send more people to investigate it."
The tone in his voice brooked no argument.
Andrew lowered his head more, "Okay, boss"
Edward narrowed his eyes with hostility.
Last time, the killer tried to attack him at the mall.
If Andrew didn't find it out in time, his identity might be exposed, and even Bella would be in danger.
That was something he never wanted to see.
The enemies were unforgivable.
Suddenly, Someone knocked on the door.
Bella pushed the door open and came in with a silver laptop in her arms.
Seeing Edward and Andrew stand in front of the French window, she didn't think much, "President, I've finished the task you assigned."
Edward returned to gentle immediately. He went to his desk and sat down like an ordinary superior.
Bella stood beside him and explained the plan to him.
"What do you think?" Bella asked softly.
Her voice showed how delighted she was.
After working here for some days, she had become very skilled in work.
Although others might laugh at her when they knew this, she felt like she had gone back to the old days when she was a housewife, and she was happy.
In her eyes, the office was her kitchen, and the office tools were her familiar kitchenware.
Bella smiled proudly.
"You forgot this." Edward's cold voice made her come down to earth.
In confusion, Bella looked at the figure Edward pointed out.
As she bent down, her collar parted, and a large piece of her fair skin was exposed.
Andrew, who had been standing aside, turned around consciously.
He had formed this instinct when he was young.
If he looked more at what he shouldn't see, his eyes would be gouged out.
Andrew felt that being Edward's bodyguard was more dangerous than being a mercenary.
Staring at the computer screen in concentration, Bella didn't know what Andrew was thinking. She frowned suspiciously, "Is there anything wrong with this figure?"
Edward was enveloped by Bella's sweet scent. His voice sounded normal, "The last figure is wrong."
Bella stared at the last figure, calculated it in her heart, and said, "I calculated it twice. It should be correct. I can calculate it again according to the formula from the first step."
Bella was very confident.
In fact, she was a little unconvinced.
She was confident in the result of her calculation, but he said she was wrong after glancing at it.
She suspected that he didn't know whether the figure was wrong or not. His purpose was to make trouble for her and set off his smartness.
She felt he didn't respect her work enough.
Therefore, she took a pen out of her pocket.
Then she looked up at the table for usable paper.
Yes, she would take action to defend the fruits of her labor.
Edward took the thin pen from Bella's hand.
Then Bella saw him point at another figure on the screen with the pen.
He said in a deep and low voice, "The actual error should be taken into account. You should get the correct result by subtracting this figure from the figure you calculated."
Bella's ears turned red.
She realized she had made a very diabolical mistake.
Even in class, the teacher would repeatedly emphasize the importance of error to the students, but she didn't take the error into account.
She even arrogantly believed he was wrong.
Bella peeked at the man next to her.
For the first time, she was glad that her boss had been wearing a mask.
At this time, there must be a mocking expression on his face, right?
Bella blamed herself more because she was escapist, "I'm sorry. I forgot to take the error into account."
She swore in her heart that she would never make the same mistake.
"Don't make such a mistake again," Edward said.
In Bella's opinion, his voice sounded very flat. However, Andrew, who stood with his back to them, opened his eyes in surprise.
Edward actually gave her a second chance!
He covered his mouth tightly so that he didn't sigh in shock.
Andrew had worked for Edward for so long, but he never saw him give someone a second chance.
He hated mistakes.
But just now, he reminded Bella not to make the same mistake again and explained to her patiently.
Andrew felt that Bella must be so special to Edward.
Bella nodded seriously, "I see. I promise I won't make the same mistake again."
After that, she reached out and closed the laptop.
"President, you're holding my pen. Could you give it back to me?" Bella reached out and stopped in mid-air.
"Yes."
Bella was about to get the pen when he held her hand and turned it over with her palm facing upwards.
Then he placed the pen in her palm tenderly.
Bella held the pen in a daze and looked at him.
He asked her, "I've returned the pen to you. Is there anything else you want to get from me?"
Behind the mask, a smile touched the corners of Edward's mouth.
"No." Bella immediately shook her head, held the pen, and put it in her pocket.
She picked up the laptop and held it in her arms as if it was a book, "President, I'll go back and revise the document right away."
She left and closed the door of the president's office. Only Edward and Andrew were left in the office.
Andrew went behind Edward and said, "President, I have one more thing to report to you."
"Say it." Edward's voice was no longer gentle.
Andrew looked in the direction of the door and said, "During this period, Mrs. Wilson asks us about you every day."
Edward replied blandly, "I see."
Apparently, he was not interested in this news.
Andrew paused for a moment and continued, "Mrs. Wilson asked a lot of questions about Bella. She seems to be dissatisfied with the fact that you live with her."
Edward frowned, "Don't tell her too much about Bella."
"Okay," Andrew replied respectfully.
