Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Chapter 17 Warning

"Who cares if you have money or if you'll starve to death!" Lanny interrupted her loudly, "You're not qualified to work in Skytel. Resign and leave immediately!"

"I won't resign." Bella raised her voice as well, "If you don't want to see me here, you can leave."

They heard voices outside the door.

Some people were walking to the tea room.

Lanny looked at Bella and suddenly sneered weirdly.

Then she quickly picked up a cup beside the coffee machine, splashed the coffee on her chest, and then threw the empty cup at Bella's feet.

The brown liquid stood out on her white coat.

Bella was too surprised to react, but Lanny looked so sad, "Bella, no matter how you treat me, I won't give up on you. I'll always be your elder sister."

Those who came in happened to hear her words.

Lanny wiped her face though there was no tear on it, "Sorry, I'll leave with my sister first."

Then she took Bella's hand and took her out.

When Bella walked by those who came in, she saw a strange look in their eyes.

Walking to a corner, Lanny immediately pushed Bella away.

Bella's shoulder hit the wall, and she looked at Lanny, "You framed me!"

Lanny said proudly, "It's a warning. If you don't listen to me and still work here, don't blame me for being ruthless to you."

After work, Bella went home.

After cutting the food ingredients, she put them into the pot and stood in front of the stove.

The apex of the flames licked the bottom of the pot, heating the food inside.

"You're not qualified to work in Skytel. Resign and leave immediately!"

Lanny's words kept echoing in her ears.

Bella shook her head hard, trying to get Lanny's face out of her mind.

Upset, she poured a glass of ice water and raised her head to gulp it down.

The coldness calmed her down temporarily.

Bella stood in the kitchen and looked at the living room.

What a beautiful house. When she moved in, she thought she was finally going to start a new life.

She got a good job in the interview and got a stable salary. Everything was getting better.

But why did Lanny and David work there?

She didn't want to resign, but Lanny could kick her out of the company easily. For example, she could frame her like what she had done in the company that day.

Lanny had done so many terrible things to her, and she couldn't help wondering what Lanny would do to hurt her again.

She was like a prisoner on the gallows, and Lanny was like the knife hanging on her head. She could cut off her head at any time.

Bella held the cup tightly. She didn't notice that the lid kept trembling, and the boiling soup overflowed from the pot.

Edward finished watering the plants on the balcony. He put the kettle on the ground and left the balcony.

As soon as he went back to the living room, he heard the sound from the kitchen, and it was getting louder and louder.

Therefore, he went to the kitchen.

He walked in, only to see that the soup had spilled from the pot, but Bella stood there still, and she didn't intend to deal with this.

He put out the fire, and it finally quieted down.

Looking at the almost empty pot, Edward frowned.

"Bella." He called her name.

But she didn't respond.

Edward walked to her, took the cup from her hand, put it aside, and called her name again, "Bella."

Bella seemed to be awakened from her sleep, and she finally came to sense.

She looked at Edward, "When did you come in?"

Edward pointed to the stove, "Look."

Bella was stunned by what she saw.

The dinner had been ruined. The stove was so dirty, and the soup even flowed to the floor.

"If I came in later, the kitchen would catch fire," Edward said.

Bella was speechless.

She could cook dinner again and clean up the dirty stove and floor. However, if the kitchen caught fire, it would be terrible.

Bella sighed, "You go out first. I have to clean it up."

Saying this, she reached out to the pot on the stove.

However, she forgot to put on the insulated gloves first. Her finger touched the hot handle. She cried out in pain and withdrew her hand.

Edward immediately took her scalded hand, put it under the tap, and splashed cold water on her hand. He said reproachfully, "You were too careless."

His tone was full of distress.

Bella's nose suddenly twitched.

She stared at her hand, "Today, I learned that Lanny and I work in the same company, and so does David."

In the past, David didn't allow her to ask him about his work, so she didn't know where he worked.

"Do you want to resign?" Asked Edward.

Bella shook her head immediately, "I don't want to."

However, it was just her thinking. Lanny would try her best to force her to resign.

Bella bit her lips.

"That's good." Edward said, "I don't want to be a tramp."

Bella glared at him.

Did he know how frightened and worried she was?

However, she seemed to have felt better.

Edward said, "There are many people who are more powerful than them. Only your boss can decide whether you should quit the job or not. Understand?"

His tone was so serious that Bella began to suspect that her worry was unnecessary.

Edward turned off the tap, "You need some ointment. Let's order takeout for dinner."

Bella glanced at the stove and knew she couldn't cook that day, so she went out with him.

Edward took the medicine box out of the cabinet and found the cotton-wool buds and the ointment in the bottom.

Bella sat obediently in the chair, stretched out a hand, and watched Edward apply the ointment to her.

Her hand had been scalded, but she couldn't help looking up at Edward's hand.

His hand was big, and it look bigger when he held a cotton-wool bud.

He could hold her whole palm, but his movements were so gentle as he applied the ointment to her.

The wound was cool, and Bella felt more comfortable. She couldn't help smiling.

After applying the ointment to her, Edward wrapped her fingers with gauze. Then he closed the medicine box.

"It's done." Bella raised her hand and observed it as if she was looking at a new toy.

"Bella." Edward suddenly approached her. Their faces were very close.

"What's wrong?" Bella's voice was low. She couldn't help looking at Edward's lips, and her heart was beating wildly.

Edward raised his hand and patted her on the top of her head, "Just now, you looked so obedient, and I felt you were like a cute puppy that outstretched its claws."

Bella widened her eyes, "Nonsense!"

She waved her fist at Edward.

She actually wanted to kiss him just now. She must be out of her head.
