Chapter 27: Chapter 27
Rodriguez exited the house before he could hear more of what Ema or Adriana had to say.
She's playing a game.
Rodriguez knew it and he had the proper way to deal with it.
She would wish she remained dead.
His driver opened the front door of the car to let him in before shutting it.
"Where are we going?"
"To meet someone."
Chale failed him horribly and he and his family was surely going to suffer the consequences of the inconvenience.
Now he had to make new schemes. Ema finally made it to the Tocci house, he needed a new plan and surely one that was fail-proof.
Ema's family especially her mother was reluctant and had this distrust about Miranda. He could surely use that to his advantage.
But Nathan...
Yes! Even if Ema was just a lookalike there was a possibility she could help Nathan remember. He had to remind the maid to fulfill her tasks.
He picked up his phone and called.
"Hello, Baby."
He could feel her flushing already. He just had that thing with women.
"Rod, you're calling early, is anything wrong?"
Of course, things were not favorable for him right now and she of all people should know that.
"Camille, Don't be such an idiot. Of course, there is a problem."
"I knew it. You never call to say hi or just be romantic. Why did I agree to us?"
She was seriously not pulling that card out now!
Women were like dogs, faithful and fierce but they could also be distrusting. Camille was at his side, he had bought her over with love and she had bought it, he couldn't lose that, at least not now.
" Baby you know the situation at hand. As long as that girl is in the house, I'm at risk of losing everything."
"I know." She admitted," But what can we do? Mrs. Tocci wants her to stay."
They could do something but Rodriguez wanted Camille to hammer the nail hard.
"Discourage the Contreras, especially Mrs. Contreras, and if that doesn't work...Just increase Nathan's dosage."
The driver turned at him wide-eyed when he said this.
"What are you looking at? Do you want to end our lives!" Rodriguez snarled.
The driver returned his attention to the road, apologizing for his wrongdoing.
"Ok. Love you."
"Love you." Rodriguez ended the call and continued to think deeply.
"Boss, Why do you want Sir Nathan dead?" The driver dared to ask.
Rodriguez smirked and watched him shiver in fear.
"What do you ask that? Is your conscience pricking you that bad?"
The man didn't answer. He just held onto the wheel and continued to drive probably hating his emotions for speaking in his place.
Rodriguez still had to answer his question, it wasn't like he was going to tell someone unless he wanted death. Moreover, Rodriguez wanted to spill out his travails.
He couldn't tell his wife so a petrified driver was the only left option.
" I don't want him dead but circumstance says something different."
The driver nodded but didn't utter a single word.
Rodriguez took it as an opportunity to instill fear into the poor man.
"I might have told you this but if you ever tell a soul, It—will—be—your—undoing!"
The driver swallowed hard and whispered,
"I won't tell anyone."
I know.

The police exited the house with the promise to find the culprits and put them behind bars.
Easier said than done, Ema thought.
"Well, that's gone. Now we can go." Mrs. Contreras said.
Ema didn't know why her mother was trying so hard to leave the good Samaritans that saved their lives.
She didn't want to sound imposing buy she was dying to accept the unconventional business deal Miranda proposed.
All she could think about was the money but Ema knew quite well, it would be foolish to say it now.
Her mother would freak out, She was already tense.
"Whatever mom. I just need to pee." Ema disclosed and proceeded to walk back upstairs.
"I'll follow you." Her mom offered.
It confirmed Ema's suspicion that her mother was scared of something.
"It's just the bathroom, I can handle it."
"But you're delicate as of now..."
"Mom! I said I can handle it."
"Ok." Her mother finally surrendered and Ema strut upstairs in peace.
With a clear mind, She examined the decor of the passageway.
She didn't know the way to the bathroom but she didn't ask for help because she made up her mind to explore the big house.
One day, She wanted something like this. It wasn't her mother's plan for her though. All she wanted was to get her married and tied to a man as quickly as possible.
A room called out to her. Her vision blurred for a second and she spun around for a second feeling dizzy.
Maybe mother was right, I felt delicate.
I walked into the room feeling sick to my guts. I suddenly felt the urge to throw up.
It turned out to be Nathan's room.
He got up his bed when he saw Ema.
"What are you doing here?"
Ema approached him to say what she had to. She could shout or talk, whatever was about to come out would spill for sure.
"—bathroom."
Nathan walked closer to her to get what she was trying to whisper.
"What?"
Ema felt it forcing it's way up, The sour taste of orange juice on her tongue.
Could she do this?
"I want..."
It came out like it was from an open tap and all on Nathan.
"Oh my God! I'm so sorry." She quickly apologized, feeling embarrassed and frightened at the same time.
"It's ok." Nathan shrugged, "It's just karma. Remember our wedding, I literally humiliated you in front of all those people."
He didn't think she was that Adriana, Did he?
"Oh! Karma then."
Ema was still abashed to ask Nathan for the bathroom. One look around and she discovered his room had one.
Nathan was just standing there, covered in vomit and grime staring at her like his dead bride.
It was now or never.
" I have to use the bathroom," Ema said and rushed in.
Safe at last.
Ema then sat on the toilet seat. The desperate urge she felt to pee before was gone. It was replaced by an awkwardness she couldn't seem to displace.
She got up expecting Nathan to come to knock on the door soon since he would need to clean up. He didn't come so she got up and washed her face in the sink.
Getting her head cleared, Ema stared into the mirror placed in front of her.
She imagined meeting her lookalike alive and wondered if the experience would have been thrilling or dreadful.
It would probably be the latter.
Ema got over her 'shock of the moment' and got out of the bathroom.
She almost screamed when she saw Nathan in the way.
Had he been peeping inside?
She was about to raid him with questions when her eyes caught a paper-like thing he held.
A photo.
A photo of the girl that looked exactly like her smiling at the camera and hugging Nathan. Nathan the other hand, looked serious-minded like he was off for a seminar.
Her head suddenly began to hurt and images flashing all in a rush.
She received blurry images of her and a man together, all looking like something in a shattered mirror but she could make out what was going on in the pictures her head concocted.
They were...kissing.
