Chapter 62: Chapter 62

ATLAS:

After hiring someone to make the necessary adjustments to the house, which by the way should have been done from the moment I found out about my puppy, I did another search on the internet about puppy safety.

I just hope I don't miss anything, after all, there are countless dangers inside our homes, especially when he starts to crawl and wants to venture around with his little legs.

I sigh in exasperation just thinking about the work this little being will put me through, and I hope it's not a girl.

Please don't be a girl.

I am taken out of my thoughts when I feel a wonderful aroma coming from the kitchen and I practically run to it watching the meal prepared by the old woman being taken to the dining room to be served.

— It smells really good— I say softly as I reach my female and wrap her in a cozy hug.

— And it will taste even better— I see Mel practically salivating as she looks at the meal already set.

— Sit down children, let's eat while it's still hot— says Aunt Maria already helping herself and encouraging us to do the same.

I sit at the head of the table with my princess on the right side and Aunt Maria on the opposite side. I watch as Mel picks up a generous piece of grilled chicken and I see her eyes twinkle in the direction of it.

I think I should learn to prepare this dish for her since something so simple does her so much good, so I have to do it.

I put a piece in my mouth and feel the texture, which is just right and very juicy, logically I wouldn't say that to the old woman, but it cooks divinely well.

— Auntie, this is wonderful— we laugh at Mel trying to talk while eating.

— Thanks dear, but eat with your mouth closed yes? Might choke or something— she scolds and as soon as I heard the word choke I had to wholeheartedly agree with her.

I hear my female grunt as she takes another bite to her mouth.

— And how are the investigations going? Do you have any suspects?— Aunt Maria asks, clearly curious.

— unfortunately not yet, but I believe that soon we will put all the cards on the table— I say seeing understanding in his eyes.

These last few days I've been reading and rereading that diary trying to find something, maybe some clue or something, but visibly I haven't gotten anything.

Mel sees my effort in trying to unravel this soon and we even created some hypotheses together, but nothing concrete, I feel that we are missing something.

But what?

— Whoever it is, this person is too smart and insightful not to have left any traces— my princess says indignantly.

— That he's skewered, that's for sure, but I already have my doubts about not having left a trace, we who still probably haven't come to terms with something— I say touching my jaw thoughtfully.

What could we have missed?

Tia Maria goes on to another subject, probably noticing the tension that has settled in the environment. We finished eating and while the two went to the living room to talk more I decided to go to the office and try to find some clues.

I give my companion a kiss that at first would be just a light brush of lips, but which became a passionate kiss making us momentarily forget that we had a nosy lady in the room.

We separated when we heard a slight clearing of the throat that unfortunately took us out of our private bubble.

— A lady of my size shouldn't witness such a scene, you know, young people— the angry old woman mutters, trying to fail to appear to be offended.

— The street door...— before concluding what I was going to say, I receive a slap on the arm and I see my female look at me with half—closed eyes as if she were challenging me to finish the sentence. I shut up immediately.

If I had completed it, it would dawn six feet under the earth.

I mutter something and again plant a kiss on my partner's forehead and then head back to my office.

As soon as I enter I notice the paperwork that I still have to review and some to sign, I let out a tired sigh at all this bureaucracy that ends up being left to me, it would be so much easier to just deal with the enemies and consequently kill them.

But as Supreme Alpha, I must take the boring part too, as much as I don't like it.

I put away all the papers and focus again on that diary, I reread it and try countless times to capture something even if it is a measly reference.

I look again at a part of the reading that I hadn't given much importance to before, but that was now starting to gain my full attention.

"... I can't stand seeing them together anymore, I can't stand that child who needs attention, I can't stand that invalid wanting to be taken care of and that witch kissing the ground she walks on, I can't stand Peter saying he loves me and would do anything for me. I will put an end to all this..."

"But still, thanks to you P."

I put my mind to work feeling that some pieces were finally starting to come together, and the worst thing is that what was forming in my head was something very serious.

Memory flashbacks flood my mind as I clench my fists tightly at my sides feeling the overwhelming urge to kill someone and fuck that's exactly what I'm going to do if I'm right.

I pray you are wrong!

I hurriedly get up from where I was sitting and pull on a leather jacket that was on a nearby armchair, then clumsily put the diary in one of the pockets as I leave the office.

I arrive in seconds near the main door, but I am stopped by my princess who is startled by my sudden presence.

— Where is Atlas going?— she asks, approaching worriedly and I feel like shit for causing this to her.

— I think I know who the unfortunate person behind all this is, but I can't talk to you now, dear, I just ask that you wait here for me, you hear? Please Mel this time I'm serious about not being able to accompany me— I say with my forehead pressed against yours looking deep into your eyes hoping you trust me.

— I'll do that, but if you don't arrive by nightfall, I'll follow you wherever you are— she answers determinedly and my chest swells with pride for the female I have.

— Thank you for trusting me— I say taking one of the strands that was in her eyes and putting it behind her ear while I plant a delicate kiss on her forehead and then bend down and do the same with her belly— don't worry— I finally say pulling away and looking at the lady who was looking at us a little scared.

— Take care of her and our puppy while I'm gone, don't let her get nervous or stressed— I say and then add— please— I turn around after seeing her nod with a sincere look.

My female would be safe.

He left, picking up his cell phone and calling for some of my best warriors to be sent to watch over Mel and Aunt Maria.

I approach the car soon heading towards the place where I never imagined I would go to deal with this, someone we had as part of the family and who is unworthy of any compassion.

A traitor, a hell of a traitor, that's what he is!

I get there in about twenty minutes, and I feel useless realizing that everything was right under my nose and that I was stupid for not realizing it sooner.

I approach the house where the cursed person was and knock insistently on the door until it is opened quickly, giving me the vision of the unfortunate person.

— We have matters to deal with— I say bitterly and with a closed face making it clear how angry I was.

Maybe we'll have one more to keep Albert company.
