Chapter 97: Chapter 97

Seid enters the passcode without even pressing the doorbell so I ask him, “Hey, what if she’s not here, or both of them are having their moments. Is this even legal?”

Seid pats me on my shoulder, “Relax, Ava. Have you forgotten, we always do this to one another, Kendra is not another person, you know.”

I sigh, still feeling nervous on how Kendra will react once she sees me.

Seid finally opens the door, and Nikolai’s face is the first to show up. He is flustered seeing us standing behind the door.

Then I hear K’s voice, “Love, who is it? Is that the food we ordered?”

Nik couldn’t answer right away, his voice is still as husky and deep as ever, “Uh, well, not really.”

“Then who is it? Are they soliciting, again? Would you mind giving them some penny, I am a bit busy here,” K’s voice sounds like a music to my ears, loud and vibrant.

Nik keeps on staring at me and holds his stare to Jeff who’s just beside me. Then he mouths to Seid, “What the heck? You didn’t even bother telling me? She’ll revolt and you know it,” Nik says to Seid. I can see that they’ve gotten a little closer.

And I could feel that we are not really that welcome here, “Uh, Nik, hi, I’m here,” I joke around.

“Hello to you, too, Miss Anderson,” he distantly says.

“Love, help me out here, what is taking you so long?” K yells at Nik.

And Nik who’s confused of what to do finally let us in.

As the door closes behind us, K appears in her casual ragged comfy clothes. When our eyes meet, she loudly greets me with a curse, “Shut the fuck up!” and her eyes widen as if she has seen a ghost.

Well, if that’s the case, I did ghosted her for two years, and now, I am ready to face her wrath.

I wave my hand at her, not sure whether I should answer her warm greeting or not.

But instead of venting out her anger at me, she runs inside her bedroom and leaves us alone.

So Nik, having no choice properly invite us in.

“Uh, come on in, sorry about that,” he says.

Seid takes the initiative to introduce the two gentlemen, while I am standing in front of K’s bedroom door.

I hear Seid says, “Uh, Nikolai, this is Jeff, Jeff, this is Nikolai Murrow.”

“I’ve heard so much about you and Kendra,” Jeff starts with a good vibe.

It takes a while before Nikolai answers, “Well, I can’t say the same, but I did know who you are.”

Then Nikolai prepares some tea for us.

With all my might, I knock on the door, “K, I’m coming in, okay?”

“Go away, you bitch!” her voice bounces outside her bedroom.

I turn the knob but it is locked, so I ask Nikolai for the key. He is kind enough to lend it to me. As I put the key on, I hear her say, “Don’t you dare go inside or else I will throw the lamp at you, I am warning you, you bitch!”

This is K when she’s angry: foul mouth, brute and a little violent. And yes, even if it means getting hit by the lamp, I don’t care, I just want to hug her and see her face up close.

So I open the door, and knowing that she will indeed throw the lamp, I step on the side a little, and there it goes, in just a few second, the lamp shade is flying out of the door.

“Too late, K. I knew you would do that. I just want to talk please?” then I leave the three gentlemen alone, and face K’s wrath by myself.

I see her standing on the side of the bed where she got the lamp.

“Don’t come near me. You have no rights!” she shouts at me.

“I miss you, K. I really do. And I, I am really sorry,” I say while taking one step closer to her.

“You don’t get to say that bitch!” she covers her ears and keeps on calling me names like bitch, asshole, and every curse wordsin our language.

Then I hug her tight and cry over her shoulder, “K, I am really sorry. I really do! Please forgive me.”

She struggles to free herself from my embrace. Then she pushes me on the floor. Her eyes are red, filled with anger. And her face are filled with tears, raging tears.

At the top of her lungs, she screams at me, “Avery, you are not going to show up here whenever you want believing that I can forgive you on the spot. That’s not how it works. Don’t act like a bitch, please? Don’t act too entitled! You’ve been a real sore for the past two years of my life. And now you’re going to come back as if nothing! DREAM ON!”

All the words she said are now struck in my heart. Indeed, I lost my best friend. Kendra is definitely mad at me, fumingly mad at me.

Because of the scream and the loud sound when I fell, the boys barge in the room. Jeff immediately runs towards me and help me up, while Nikolai goes to her to calm her down.

Seid stands on the door, rubbing his temples.

“Love, let’s hear her out, shall we?” Nik says in a calm manner. But she just hisses at him, “No, I already gave her two years to explain, and yet she said nothing. She’s a coward.”

Then she faces mes again,

“No! You dont leave a friend behind. And I am not just a friend, asshole! In case you forget, I was like a sister to you! I was like your twin, Avery Anderson. What the hell happened? And you dare to spy on me, using Siegfried while I’m here cleaning up all the mess you made? Especially the business we built from scratch! Oh, by the way, MY BUSINESS!”

It totally slips my mind. And now, I finally see how my disappearance took a toll on her. I wish I could die right now, or maybe, I wish I could turn back time.

Then she glares at Seid and points at him aggressively, “And you, you are a traitor, how dare you!” she lashes non-stop.

We are awfully quietly after the confrontation. Nikolai asks us to leave the room for a while. So we wait in the living room.

Jeff who understands how important K is to me continue to observe. He doesn’t invalidate her anger so he doesn’t butt in, despite her shouting at me the whole time, Jeff knows where she’s coming from.

All he does is comfort me by hugging me. To be honest, I am just worried that K might go vulture at him, too, but thankfully, she didn’t.

After we finish the tea, we bid our goodbye momentarily.

“I believe, it isn’t the time yet. I am sorry about what happened. I will let you know when it’s okay to visit again,” Nikolai directs his sentence at me.

I short answer, “I understand,” and the three of us leave them alone.

***

During our week vacation here in The States, I never missed a day to bring something that could comfort Kendra, or should I say, a bribe so she could forgive me. I begin pampering her with different kinds of things.

I tried cooking her favorite dishes. I tried sending flowers to her house, office, and her business address.

I tried sending chocolates and other comfort foods that I knew of.

And yet, nothing seems to be working. She still hasn’t faced me. Whenever I go to her apartment, she locked herself in her room. Or sometimes, when Nikolai is there, we are the only ones who talked about other things.

Because of it, I found out that Kendra could no longer keep the old commercial place of our business, I mean her business, so she had to move. And she did it all alone. She faced all the bakclash of the scandal, and the aftermath of the incident of my disappearance.

So no matter how long, and how hard it is, I will do everything to gain her trust once again. I want my bestfriend back.

The last grand gesture I could ever give her, is to officially transfer all the shares under my name, so she’ll be the sole proprietor of our business.

“I know this isn’t enough, but please accept this as my apology to you, I love you, my bestfriend, Kendra Higgins. I am sorry. I want you back, please give me one last chance,” I wrote a note, and leave the envelope on her kitchen table, then I leave.
