Chapter 71: Chapter 71

(Dmitri’s Thoughts)

“H-how d-did you?”

“W-what… w-why are y-you h-here?”

“D-do you n-need a-anything?”

These were her spoken questions. I glared at her making my intentions clear.

“Ms. Jen Storm, you seemed surprised. Or should I say perplexed? Tensed? Baffled? Scared?” I straightened my before crossed-arms, and stepped forward.

“Why? Did you do something awful to make you feel like that?” I cornered her.

“N-no, of course not, sir. I j-just didn’t expect you to v-visit here, I m-mean, you didn’t know my place, and you didn’t know me,” she stuterred, still going along with her act.

I scoffed, “Oh, believe me, Jen Storm, I know you very well. And in fact, I am here to give you a pay back,” I took another step that made her step back, bumping on the door behind her.

“A p-pay back, sir?” she began sweating.

“Oh, wait, did I say pay back? No, what I meant was back pay. Yes, back pay. That’s because you didn’t get it when you left the company in a rush. Why, Jen? Was my benefit not befitting your needs, here?” I waved my hand and shrugged my shoulders.

“Oh, no, no, sir. It’s because of some personal reason…” she made yet another excuse.

“Is that so? Then, did you happen to know Carl from the security department? It seemed you two were close, and both of you left my company with just two-days interval,” I bluntly asked her.

Mentioning Carl’s name was enough to break the little confidence she had left.

She almost lost her balance, if not for the knob she held onto, she would have fallen on the floor.

I looked down on her, “Well?”

“S-sir, wh-what are you doing her, really?” she began to ask the multimillion-dollar question.

“Finally!” I said, I went to her and went down to her level, “Are you ready to confess Jen? Let’s do this the easy way, okay?” I held her chin and squeezed it a bit.

Her fake eyelashes, her smudged eyeliner and eyeshadow, and her wiggling lips told me that she finally got why I am here.

“Why did you do that?” I tried to calm as possible as I could.

“I don’t kn-” she was about to continue but this time I yelled at her. This woman didn’t deserve any of my mercy, so I cut her off.

“You know very well what I’m talking about. Why did you do that to Avery? She did nothing to you!” I yelled at her and pound the door just above her head.

Her whole body reacted to it and she began to cry. “She shamed me first. She embarrassed me first, sir.”

“No, she didn’t!” I corrected her.

“She reprimanded you for not treating her as a guest in accordance to our hotel’s image!” I added.

She didn’t answer at first, but I could see her clenching her fists. Then she recovered and looked at me, “But sir, you weren’t there.”

“I had eyes everywhere, and I watched that video! Speaking of which, you did manipulate the video and made her like a new trending Karen, didn’t you? You are the worst!” I shout at her again, making sure it reached her dark ill-heart.

“You were bias her, just because you liked her, you sided with her. You didn’t hear my opinion, you just-” she paused.

“I did what? Huh? Exactly! I did nothing. Even Jeff didn’t strip you off of your job. You left in your own accord. And before you even did that, you wrecked and ruined a beautiful soul!” I continued throwing the truth to her face, trying my best not to hurt her physically.

“That bitch, it was her fault. You only looked at her. And you gave her different treatment, and you, you never look at us, at me,” she wept.

In my mind, “This woman’s crazy.”

“That served her right,” she even said without any remorse. She even grinned while saying that.

But instead of yelling even more, I know this woman didn’t even regret what she had done. “So, you were saying you were jealous?”

“Y-yes. I did it for you. For us. And so that, that woman would learn her lesson not to flirt with you,” she casually said it.

I took a deep sigh, “She never flirted me. I was the one who loved her first. I was the one who knew her first. I was the one who chased her first. Do you get me? You can never, ever, reach Avery. You are incomparable to her. You are nothing!”

With calm words, I managed to tell the truth. It was true, I did everything to meet her. Even before she knew me, I had known her. Even before she saw me, I’ve already stalked her.

And the coincidence weren’t fated after all. I made it all happen. So yes, I can say, that I have loved her first. I was just coward enough not to admit it, but now that she’s gone, I wish I had done this a little bit earlier.

Back from my reverie, this woman who punished the only girl I loved needed to face her punishment, a taste of her own medicine.

“So, Jen, do you admit to your crimes?” I wisely asked.

“A crime?” she scoffed, “Well, it wasn’t a crime for me, but hell yeah, I was the one who did that to her,” she even smiled.

“Is that so? And you manipulated the video to make her look bad, correct?” I asked again.

“Why do you need to ask, sir? Of course, I did. No matter what the truth was at that time, people believed me, didn’t they? They were just fools, and because of that they shoved her off,” she laughed maniacally.

I wanted to crush her face, especially her foul mouth with my hands, but I had a better idea, “I see. So, I guess no matter what, you wouldn’t regret nor apologize for what you did, correct?”

She looked at me coldly, distantly, and sternly, “Of course, not! I ousted her out of your life didn’t I? If you can’t be with me, then you’re better off with none,” she countered.

“Then, in the next years of your life, when things got tough, try to remember that I gave you chance, okay? And hey, I forgot to mention. Your mom, the one you loved dearly, the one you mentioned during my interview with you, she’s watching you right now, imagine how disappointed she is with you!”

“S-sir? Y-you remember my mom?” her tears dropped.

“I remember something memorable. You used to be brilliant. But now, I will remember you as someone who took my happiness away from me, my future with me,” I sadly said and went on my way.

“S-sir, what do you mwan by watching? How can she possibly do that? What do you mean sir?” she held my shoes and my pants.

But I shoved her hands away, I looked down on her and said, “Did I forget to mention I was wearing a camera? Surprise, the whole world has watched and heard you.” I told her.

She looked at me puzzled.

“You now got all the attention you wanted, Jen Storm. And sooner, you will get to taste the dose of your own medicine. Scandal. Manipulated videos. Shame. Jobless. Nude Pictures. Goodluck surviving all of it.”

And I kicked the goods scattered on the floor. I heard her weeping, crawling on the floor.

“Sir. Wait. I am sorry,” she was screaming. She was trying to get hold of me, but with my long strides, she couldn’t.
