Chapter 58: Chapter 58

“Fuck off!” is what she says to me, while Nikolai quietly looks at me.

K’s face tells me that she couldn’t believe what I just said. So she squeezes my hand and goes off blabbering something gibberish,

“A, so after all that drama with Seid, and your break up and your fated encounter with Dmitri, and your full obsession of him just some days ago, now you are telling me that you are so over him?”

Then she raises the picture in her hand while saying, “And now you are telling me, that you are in love with this guy in this picture?” her eyebrows raise.

I know K, and I know how keen she is, and how stubborn she could be, “Yes, that’s what I’m telling you. So, you won’t be seeing him with me, anymore.”

I take a sip of the refreshment drink in front of me. But K’s eyes are stuck on me, “Hmm, so where is he now? Why aren’t you with him? Or why isn’t he with you?”

“Cause, this time I bet on fate. I need something more convincing than how I met Dee, so I can easily get over him,” my tongue slips.

“Bingo!” she exclaims loud enough for people to stare at us, “You are a horrible bitch! That’s bad, girl. Don’t make this hottie just a rebound,” she scolds me.

“No, that’s not what I want for us, either. I want it to be more natural, I think?” I say it with a rising intonation in my voice, as if I’m not even sure of what I’m saying.

“That if he’s willing to pursue me, then, one day, I’ll see him here running to me, don’t you think?” I add confidently, this time.

“Fair enough!” K finally calms down, and she returns the picture to me.

I stare at it for a while and thought, “You’ll come around, right, Jeff?”

After our dinner, I ask them to drop me off at our office at ‘Event’s For Keeps’. I think I am so behind my clients’ events preparation. I still have three big events for this month, so I guess I need to somehow hassle.

After arriving, I drop my belongings on the couch and make coffee for myself.

Then I start searching for papers on my table and cram all over it. Whenever I feel sleepy, I take a sip to keep myself awake.

But due to my tiredness, my eyes begin to fall, so I give in a bit and lie down on the couch.

***

I feel something vibrating near my feet, so I am awakened by it. I hook my purse with my feet and bring it to my hand.

With my eyes still closed, I search my phone with my hands, take it out and answer the call with my hoarse voice from my slumber, “Hello, yeah?”

“Hey, babe,” a familiar voice on the other line brings a smile to my lips.

“Hey, you, you already in your penthouse?”

“Yeah, and you? You at home, yet?” he asks.

“Nah, I’m here at the office, I need to prepare stuff for my clients,” I briefly explain.

“Hmm, I see, did you lock the door? It is best to roll down the blinds, too,” he reminds me.

“Yes, I did. So, why did you call? Do you want to have sex? Although I may have to pass tonight,” I bluntly say.

I hear him chuckle, “No, just checking you out,” he shortly responds.

“Hmm, really? So, you don’t miss me? My kiss? My hug? My body? Our sex?” I utter with a little moan in my voice.

“Naughty girl,” he clears his throat.

“Well, I need something to wake me up, so good thing you called, I now have a sex rush,” I shamelessly exclaim.

“Don’t make me come there, or else you won’t be able to finish that because I’m going to be fucking you all night,” he warns me.

“Huh, right, right. I have to go now and finish my work,” I bid goodbye.

“Yeah, don’t stay up late long, babe. Bye, Avery!” he says and ends the call.

In the end, I slept in my office, and the next morning, I feel that my head’s spinning. I hurry up and take a taxi to my apartment but even before I could reach it, I realize someone’s been calling me nonstop.

So I decided to answer it, and I saw Cindy, Seid, K, Nikolai and a restricted number have been calling me since this morning.

K’s the first one to connect through, “Hello?” my voice is still not in a very good condition, but even before I could speak more than a word, K’s voice resonates to the phone’s speaker.

Even the taxi driver could hear her shouting.

“Hey, will you slow down cause I don’t understand a word from you when you do that,” I calm her down.

“No, I’ve been calling you, and even Nikolai and Dee can’t even reach you. Cindy’s been flooding my number with her calls,” she says, well, still screaming.

“Okay, okay, so what’s up? I just got up and I am on my way now to my apartment, tell me calmly,” I argue with her.

“No, no! Don’t go there, just meet me at my house, okay? Hurry! Don’t go anywhere! Just go straight here,” she demands.

The taxi driver heard her, so he must be waiting for me to give him a new direction.

“Well? You heard the lady, please go to the Edmond’s Palace near Furgen Station, thank you,” I confirm to the driver.

He nods at me while looking from the rearview mirror.

Then not only a minute has passed, but Nikolai’s number also appears, which is definitely a signal that something’s gone wrong while I am sleeping peacefully. So I answer it,

“Hey, Nik, I just talk to K, what’s up?” I say the same line I used with K.

But in the background, I hear a familiar voice that even Nik couldn’t get to say hi, it appears the voice snatched the phone from his hand,

“I’ve called you many times now, why didn’t you answer?” his voice sounds upset, so I try to tease him a little.

“Well, good morning to you, too, Mr. Sullivan. To what do I owe the pleasure?” I chuckle.

But my laughter even sets him fuming more, “This isn’t a laughing matter, Avery. Go to my office, now, just go inside, and don’t talk to anyone, not even to my secretary,” he commands authoritatively.

But I hate it when he does that, so I will do the opposite. The driver looks at me again, but I instruct him to just go to Edmond’s.

“No can do, I’m far from your office, and I am on my way to meet K now in her house, ciao, Mr. Sullivan,” then I hang up.

My phone keeps on ringing so I irritatedly shuts it off.

“What’s wrong with everyone today?” I vent out to the driver.

He laughs and jokes, “Are you some kind of a celebrity?” he giggles.

“Hell, no!” I laugh with him. Little did I know, that I might be one, starting now.
