Chapter 22: Chapter 22
Cassandra looked like a walking dead while going out of the dorm. Having no appetite, she didn't eat her breakfast. When she entered the school, everyone's eyes were on her. Cassandra looked away and bowed her head to avoid everyone's attention.
"I pity her."
"First and her doesn't match. She's a wolf and he's a vampire."
Cassandra clutched her chest tightly. She can hear the whispers around her, and it's making her feel uncomfortable. Cassandra was surprised when someone put an arm on her shoulder. She looked up to see who did it.
"Storm?" Cassandra softly said. He smiled at her and patted her head.
"You look like a zombie. You don't look good," Storm chuckled. Cassandra just smiled. "Don't mind them," he added. Cassandra just nods.
They went together to their class and saw Sebastian and Joana walking together while holding each other's hands. Joanna sweetly smiled at Cassandra and then scowled at Storm. Sebastian and Cassandra's eyes met, and she can see the longing in his eyes. Cassandra avoided his gaze and gripped tightly on the sling of her bag. Cassandra felt like she's about to cry. Storm gently pulled her, and they both entered the classroom.
Cassandra sat down on her chair, and Storm sat beside her. Sebastian used to sit beside her, but now he's on the front, sitting beside Joana who's smiling widely like she won the lottery. She even sat on Sebastian's lap. Cassandra could feel her blood boiling, and she wanted to hurt someone. She felt relieved when the professor entered the classroom and told Joana to sit appropriately on her chair.
Cassandra felt jealous and furious, seeing Joanna and Sebastian, but she still managed to survive the class despite all of that. Her wolf's already on edge and about to go out. She's mad, frustrated, lonely, and scared, just like Cassandra. As soon as the bell rings, Cassandra immediately got out of the room and went to the bathroom. She let the tears fall that she's been holding the whole class.
"Did you saw her face?! Damn, she looks pathetic!" someone said outside the stall and laughed. "Ha! Serves her right! She's like Abegail, they're both whores," the other one said.
Cassandra wants to go out and punch their faces, but she restrains herself. To her, they're not worth it. She waited for the other girls to go out of the bathroom. When she felt that no one was with her anymore, she went out of the cubicle and washed her face in the sink. Cassandra took a deep breath before stepping out of the bathroom. She was surprised to see Storm waiting outside.
"Lunch?" Storm asked. Cassandra smiled at him, and they went together to the cafeteria and eat. Storm ordered apple juice for her. She was about to decline politely because she doesn't want an apple, but then Sebastian appeared and put lemon juice on the table; then he looked at Storm.
"She doesn't like an apple-flavored drink," Sebastian seriously said. Storm just looked at him and glared, but Sebastian didn't mind him.
"Drink this, it's your favorite," Sebastian said before he left. Cassandra's heart was beating so fast, it feels like it will go out of her chest. She followed where Sebastian went and saw him placing the tray of food he was holding in front of Joana. Joana smiled at him and kissed his cheeks.
Cassandra inhaled and closed her eyes; it should've been here with Sebastian and not Joana. Sebastian was confusing her with his actions. She finally opened her eyes and smiled bitterly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know," Storm apologetically said.
"It's nothing," Cassandra replied. A storm accompanied her the whole afternoon. She didn't even notice that they both have the same schedule today. Lisanna and Abegail sometimes hang out with them during their vacant.
"Damn," Cassandra muttered. Storm looked at her. "I forgot my notes in the classroom. Wait for me here Storm. I'll be back," she added. She excused herself and run back to their classroom.
When Cassandra entered the room, she saw the mean girls inside. It was Joana and her friends. Joana smirked at her so does the other girls. "The loser is here," she whispered at them, but everyone can hear her. It was intentional. Cassandra picked her notebook on the chair and put it in her bag. She was about to go out, but Joanna immediately blocked her using her superhuman speed.
"Hello, Cassandra," Joana sweetly said. Cassandra almost gagged at her fake sweet voice. She just stared blankly at Joana, then tried to get past her, but Joana pushed her aside.
"I don't have time for you, Joanna! Fuck off!" Cassandra angrily shouted. All of them laughed at her. Cassandra gritted her teeth to control her anger.
"Oh god! That was hilarious, Cassandra!" Joana teases her. Cassandra thought Joana was so dumb to believe that there's something funny about what she said.
"So, Cassy how are you these days?" Joana asked her while twirling her hair.
"Fine," Cassandra flatly replied. "What the fuck do you want, Joanna?" Cassandra spat at her. She knows Joana's planning something for her. Joana faked a gasped and stared at her.
"My! My! I really don't like the way you talk, Cassandra," Joana said. "What I just want to say is, you're invited to our wedding. It's just that you look so pathetic because Sebby left you and chose me over you," she added.
Cassandra lost control. Everything she's been holding back earlier burst out. She grabbed Joana's hair and slammed her to the wall, and choked her on the neck. Joana screamed because of the pain.
"Don't make me mad, Joana. You won't fucking like it," Cassandra venomously said. Cassandra felt weak when someone pulled her away from Joana; it was Sebastian. Joanna cried and hugged Sebastian.
"She hurt me, Sebby!" Joana hysterically said to Sebastian.
Cassandra stepped back when she saw how Sebastian looked at her. He is glaring at her with his icy, emotionless eyes. He went closer to Cassandra and grabbed her arm. Cassandra tried to move away from his grip because it was hurting her.
"What the fuck, Cassandra!? Why the fuck did you do that!?" Sebastian shouted at her. Cassandra couldn't take it anymore, and she slapped him hard on his face. She started to wipe the tears falling from her eyes.
"Fuck you!" Cassandra shouted and run out of the room. She transformed into a wolf form and run to the forest of Academia. She ran and ran until her paws hurt. Cassandra howled in pain. The pain of being rejected and the pain of being alone.
"I fucking hate you, Blood!" Cassandra spat. Her wolf whimpered and hid within her. Her wolf wants to distance herself, and she couldn't blame her. She is genuinely hurt by what Sebastian did to her, their mate. Cassandra was glad that she brought a jacket with her. She wore it and watched the sunset in front of her.
"We'll be okay," Cassandra said particularly to no one. She heard the leaves rustle. It seems like they agreed to what she said.
"So you're just here. You need to go back to the dorm. It's dangerous out here," someone gently spoke behind her.
"I don't care. Leave me alone," Cassandra answered. Sebastian sat beside her, and she heard him sighed.
"Fuck this. Please, just follow me. You need to go back," Sebastian said. Cassandra ignored him. He grabbed her hands and intertwined them with his.
"Please, go back to the dorm," Sebastian pleaded. Cassandra pulled her hand away from him and stood up. She walks out of the forest while Sebastian followed her. Cassandra immediately wiped the tears that were starting to fall from her eyes. She faced him and looked intently into his eyes.
"I really can't understand you, Blood. One minute you're here, and make me feel so important. The next thing, you're going steal my heart and go running, and just leave me here, hurting and broken," Cassandra muttered.
"Just trust me," Sebastian calmly said to her. She looked at him one last time and turned her back again, then leave. Cassandra immediately lay down on her bed as soon as she went back to the dorm. She closed her eyes and realized how tired she is of crying that day.
