Chapter 169: Chapter 169
It’s been a few days since the heart transplant surgery, and Qi Ruiqin’s physical condition is improving. The intermittent pain in his heart has subsided, and he looks much better than before.
After listening to Qi Ruwen’s report, he nodded, "Since both Mr. Cheng and Mr. Su have chosen this company, let’s cooperate. By the way, what did you say the name of the person responsible for this research project from the Rong Family was?"
"It’s Rong Zhi," Qi Ruwen said on the other side of the screen, "I looked into this person; a child of the Rong Family who was lost for eighteen years, recently returned to the family. His background is somewhat complicated, and there’s one point I can’t quite figure out."
"Her ID shows her gender as female, but the identity released by the Rong Family claims she is male," Qi Ruwen frowned, "Could there be something in between..."
Qi Ruiqin fell silent at these words. A moment later, he said seriously, "It doesn’t matter. Our cooperation partner is the Rong Family. As long as it’s her, let them handle their situation. As long as it doesn’t affect the project, it doesn’t concern us."
Qi Ruiqin made a sound of acknowledgment and, after a few instructions to Qi Ruwen to follow the research project closely, hung up.
Just then, the door to the hospital room was pushed open, and Tang Xuyun, dressed in traditional Chinese clothing, walked in.
Qi Ruiqin had always been patient and respectful towards this head of the National Medical Research Institute. He smiled at Tang Xuyun, "Dean Tang."
Tang Xuyun nodded, "Chief Qi, how are you feeling today?"
"Not as painful anymore, my whole body feels much more comfortable, and I even have some strength."
Qi Ruiqin’s heart problem appeared later in life; for many years, a suitable heart donor could not be found. It wasn’t until the situation became critical that a viable donor heart became available.
Fortunately, the transplant surgery was very successful, and his body has adapted well to the new heart, with minimal rejection reactions.
After the usual inquiries and examinations, Tang Xuyun was about to leave when Qi Ruiqin, while getting dressed, called out to him, "Dean Tang, wait a moment."
He met Tang Xuyun’s slightly questioning gaze and spoke earnestly, "I would like to meet the chief surgeon who operated on me. I haven’t been able to thank him since I woke up."
Qi Ruiqin kept things simple. He was well aware of the risks of his surgery, even prepared his will and wrapped up affairs before going under the knife. When Tang Xuyun told him there was a 100% chance of success, saying he wasn’t excited would be a lie.
Anyone facing a chance to live would want to seize it. Survival is human nature.
Hearing the sincerity in his tone, Tang Xuyun, knowing he genuinely wished to express his gratitude, nodded and considered, "I can’t be sure if he has the time, but I can relay your message."
Rong Zhi is a very busy person, and he was unsure of her schedule.
Qi Ruiqin didn’t mind. After receiving consent, he asked a few more questions about the chief surgeon’s preferences. Tang Xuyun didn’t know much either, but he remembered that Rong Zhi often wore Buddha beads, so he told Qi Ruiqin she might be a Buddhist.
"A Buddhist?" Qi Ruiqin murmured, turning to ask his subordinate what kind of gift would be appropriate.
At noon, Rong Jin came to find Rong Zhi to have lunch. Because of what happened earlier that morning, the uncle and nephew were now the focus of attention at the company, with more staff around them than usual.
Rong Zhi remained calm, eating and drinking without any disturbance. If it weren’t for a call from Rong Xian’an, she might have continued eating for a while longer.
In the office, Rong Xian’an watched the young man who had walked through the door, silent.
Since hearing the news reported by Rong Qichuo in the morning, a complex surge of emotions had welled up in him.
He had given the Jinghua Group’s tender to Rong Zhi, hoping she would face difficulties and seek his help as her father.
But contrary to his expectations, not only did Rong Zhi not come to him, but she also secured the cooperation with Huajing Group without needing him.
Rong Xian’an pursed his lips. He wanted to find out what plans Rong Zhi had going forward and to slip someone into her team.
But Rong Zhi’s attitude was indifferent. She shook her head slightly when she heard his intention, saying coldly, "My team’s numbers are sufficient."
"Those two people you have, you call that a team?"
"Huajing is a large enterprise. You and your completely inexperienced secretary won’t manage it. I’ll arrange for a senior employee to guide you and teach you," Rong Xian’an said, his hands clasped in front of him, his tone unconsciously carrying a condescending attitude, refusing Rong Zhi’s request.
"Teach me?" Rong Zhi’s cool fingers lightly tapped her forehead, her fox-like eyes slightly narrowing. There was no emotion in them, her voice lightly laced with mockery, "You’re not fit to teach me, and neither is he."
Rong Xian’an was so agitated by her cold and mocking tone that the veins on his forehead bulged.
