Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Chloe Montclair

"Vivian, promise me you're going to take good care of yourself?." Ken's mom asked me in a very soft tone. The tone she uses on me while talking to me has always got me wondering if I'm some kind of her lost daughter which she found recently.

Immediately after we finished taking our breakfast, Ken's dad got a call and it was important so, he had to leave. And also Janet too, since she's a fashion designer, she also got an important call and, she's been up to her room to get dressed.

Ken promised to drop her off immediately after he drop me off at my house.

"Thank you, mom. I will."

"Ken, do not forget to get her the drugs. I believe you know how important it's for her."

Before he could reply to his mom, I beat him to it. "No mom, it's fine. I can get the drug myself. I have a pharmacy close to my house." I said.

"No, he's getting you the drugs and that's final."

"Yes, yes mom. I'm getting her the drugs so, stop worrying yourself about it." He smiled at her before hugging her. He did the same thing with his Aunt and peck her cheek too.

"Take care of yourself, you two."

"And you too, bye." We wave at them and tried to get into the car but Janet's voice stopped us.

"Guys! Guys wait for me! Oh my goodness! I can't believe you're trying to leave me here when you promised to drop me off." She commented breathing heavily like someone who has just come back from a marathon race.

"Why are you even troubling me? You have your car for goodness sake." Ken hissed and rolled his eyes.

"But, riding in your own brother's car is more fun." She sticks out her tongue at him making everyone burst out laughing.

We got into the car, I was sitting in the passenger seat while Janet was sitting in the back. Ken ignite the car engine and drove off.

We've been 15 minutes drive away from his parent's house but, no one said a word to each other in the car. It was a peaceful silence though. I kept on peeping at him all through but, he was too focused on the road that he had no idea I was looking at him, or maybe, he did know I was staring but pretend not to notice.

"Vivian, stop staring like that. You're making me feel uncomfortable. Don't worry, he's yours and he's going nowhere now, enough of the stare, and relax your body." This crazy girl has to talk and now Ken is doing nothing but smirking.

"I'm not staring, you're mistaken." I said rolling my eyes.

"Yes, yes. You're not. Now, just close your eyes and relax. We still have more than 25 minutes before we arrive at your place." She said laughing.

I swear, I hate these two. Like brother, like a sister.

I decided to focus on my mind but I don't know why I can't seem to concentrate well. No matter how hard I tried to concentrate on my life and the things I have to do... I end up having the thought of Ken and will have no other option but to pass him a glimpse of a look.

This continues not until we arrive at my place and I had no idea at all. The voice of Janet brought me out of my thought. "Wait, you stay here too?." I heard her ask me.

"Yes, I do. Why?." I answered her.

"That's because I'm close to here. I mean, my house is close to this place. Just the next street to here. Brother, you knew about this and you never told me about her residence while I've been asking you. Oh my goodness! I can't believe you stay here too!" She squeaked in an excited tone.

"I had no idea you stay next street here.. glad to know that." I said smiling. "But, I thought you stay with your parents?." I can't help but ask. I wish I can control this mouth of mine.

"Who? Me? Of course, not. Well, I spend some time with them and the same goes for my aunt's house too but, I have my own house... Of course, I need my privacy. I'm a big girl." She said proudly.

"No matter how much you claim to be big, I'm still your elder brother, and do not do anything crazy, Janet. I'm warning you."

"Whatever! I can't believe this is what you get to say to me after two years of being apart from each other." She hissed and rolled her eyes.

"2 years?." I swear, I can't control it. I'm too curious.

"Yes, I just got back from the USA two days ago... I've been there to work on some projects that have to deal with Ken's new company. You better thank you star you paid me well else, I wouldn't have gone there."

"You owned a company there too?." I asked him with a stunned look.

"You had no idea about that? You're his girlfriend and you should know everything about him." She said looking at the two of us intently.

"That's because I wanted it to be a surprise. Remember you told me, you wanted to go to the USA for our honeymoon and you would like to shop for s lot of things? Was only keeping to that till then." He said and I'm confused.

Honeymoon? The USA? With him? But, I never talk- oh my goodness! I widened my eyes in horror. He just said that because of his sister that's here with us. She's about to catch us in the act and that will be a huge problem for us.

"Nevertheless, you should have told me about it. I can't believe I'm hearing it for the first time she that, is coming from Janet too." I decided to play along and hissed at the end before rolling my eyes at him.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry brother. I had no idea she isn't aware of the whole thing and now, I spoiled your surprise." She apologized with a sad face and look down at her hands.

Ken and I looked at each other and smiled a little bit. Thank goodness she did not catch on. "I promise, to make it up to you."

"Of course, you should. You just ruined my one big-time surprise for my babe." He added.

"Hey! That's enough. I'm glad I get to know that in that way, I won't get to make your shopping mall go bankrupt overnight. My shopping will be little and simple." I said.

We arrive at my house and before I could step out, Ken stopped me.

Now, what is he trying to do?

He walk to my side and opened the car door for me like a gentleman. "Easy there, babe." He said like he's the most caring boyfriend in the whole world.

Jerk! Just yesterday, he didn't even care if I get into the car or not. He never commented on my dress and now, he's been all lovey-dovey because of his sister.

Janet got out too from the car and they both helped me up to my apartment. I would lie if I said, I do not like this penthouse Ken got me. It was a big one and I had no idea what he expect me to do with the house... It's too big for me. Imagine having 6 rooms in one house when I'm not even married yet.

I've always wanted my things to be simple but this crazy man will never agree with me. He had to threaten me the day he got me this house and I refused it. He threatened me to the core and I had no idea but to say yes to him.

Before I put in the passcode to my house, I heard Janet asking me. "Vivian, how much money do you have? You seem pretty loaded by seeing your house. I can't believe you owned this place. Brother, you've made the right decision by choosing her out of all girls." She exclaimed excitedly to her brother.

I wish dear Janet but too bad, it was all your brother's money. Everything about me is fake and I hope, you won't get to know about that someday else, you might hate me for the rest of your life- I mentally thought.

"Of course, I made the right choice choosing her. I did my findings well before choosing her. She's the perfect girl for this." Ken said arrogantly. Neither does he have an idea of what he's just done.

Crazy man!

"Huh? Perfect for what?." Janet asked confusedly.

"Perfect to be my wife and the mother of my unborn children." He said like it's the most simple thing in the whole world.

I began to cough uncontrollably and Janet helped me calm down by caressing my back. I pass him a glance and the idiot just smirks at him.

Brute!

I put in the passcode and we got but guess what, Tiana was coming out from the kitchen and when her eyes landed on us, I- especially, she walk closer to us and hug me tightly. "What were you thinking? How can you get sick just like that without coming home yesterday night? Do you know how worried I was before Ken called and told me about what has happened to you?." She bombarded me with questions like a mom scolding her daughter.

I broke the hug and chuckled. "It's nothing, Tiana. I'm fine."

"What's fine?!" She exclaimed and hit me so hard on my arm. I almost lose my balance all thanks to Ken for being close to me.

"Easy there, Christiana. She's not that strong yet." Ken said to her.

"I'm... I'm... oh my God! I'm sorry. I... I didn't mean to hit you like that. But, you got me worried too."

"Of course, I know you were worried. I'm sorry about that. Forgive me, mother."

"This is not the time to make silly jokes, you crazy girl!" She snapped at me and hissed before facing Ken. "Tell me, Ken. What was the cause of her sudden stomach pain? I've been with her for a while now and she's never complained about her tummy giving her a problem some sort like that." I swear anyone seeing this girl right now would think she's my mother or my elder sister.

I doubt if she's even seen as Ken's sister who came in with us. She's busy with her questioning and answer quiz that she had no idea we came in with someone.

"Actually, she was confirmed to ha-"

"Christiana Salvador?." We heard Janet ask whilst she pointed her index finger directly at Tiana.

Both Ken and I looked at each other. I looked stunned.

How did she know her full name?
