Chapter 59: Chapter 59

"Jane, it's not like that ..." Alexa said softly, "you already have a family and you have your own personal problems, don't worry about me—"

"That's enough, Lexa! I don't want to hear that! Enough! I didn't know that you still thought of me as a stranger. I'm hurting enough here!"

But Alexa actually cried.

Jane was surprised. "I didn't scold you, why are you crying?"

The more she grumbled, the harder Alexa's tears fell. She knew she was crybaby. She lowered her head so that all her tears fell onto the blanket beneath her. As soon as Jane pulled her face up, there was a red spot in her eyes and it was very bad.

"Oh, my darling. I'm so sorry. I'm not really mad and I'm not hurt, okay?!"

Alexa looked at Jane and laughed. Because she was still crying, the laughter looked very ugly.

"Ew, your face looks like a pig getting splashed with rainwater!" Jane commented.

Alexa gave one blow to this pushy nag.

"Ow, that hurts! Your punches are still the same as when you were younger, aren't they! Still strong enough to fight?" Jane provoked her.

"You dare mock me, pig?"

Jane rolled her eyes.

The two sat very close together, Jane leaned closer because she wanted to hug her again, but Alexa pushed her away. "That's enough. I'm fine."

Her face wasn't good at all, Jane still gave a worried expression.

"Geez, believe me!" Alexa protested.

Finally Jane sighed. "You gave me a heart attack, couldn't breathe suddenly like that."

"I'm just ... in shock." Alexa's voice was soft. "It wasn't a dream."

"Stop! Stop right there! Don't discuss it any more!" Jane scolded her. "We haven't had time to eat anything, and the housemaid at home has already prepared the food. Are you able to walk well?"

Alexa challenged her. "Can you carry me?"

"No. But I can drag you along."

If Jane said she would drag her then that was the truth. Since they were teenagers, they have had opposite characteristics, that was why they were compatible. In the past, Jane was a controversial barbarian girl, while Alexa was innocent, sweet, naughty and naive. Their world was incomplete if one of them was not there.

They have been very close since childhood.

Jane carried Alexa downstairs, accepting no resistance. "Eat lots. Don't worry about anything else."

"What time is it? Fillo? Oh my God, I have to —"

Her words stopped when Jane squeezed her shoulder. She turned and saw Jane shaking her head with a smile, and she knew what that meant.

"Eat first. Surviving in this cruel world requires strength."

What Jane said made sense.

In the evening, when her heart and mind were at ease, Alexa finally returned to Ray's villa. It wasn't that late. The night lights were on and filled the city with brilliance. She was escorted directly by the quiet and stiff Shari. They didn't talk about anything throughout the trip, but that was also good because she didn't want to make small talk.

Abby dropped her off directly in front of Ray's villa and she thanked her briefly.

A guard opened the door for her and kindly greeted, "Good evening, Miss."

She smiled stiffly. "Is Ray home yet?"

"Mr. Sanders is inside, working."

Usually, if he was forced to work overtime, Ray would languish in the study, but this time when she came in, she saw the man in the living room. Alexa, who didn't want to see him, was very annoyed to see him sitting on the couch.

Hearing the sound of footsteps, Ray lifted his eyes from his work tablet and smiled. "You're back this late."

Alexa tried to avoid making eye contact. "Yes, there are some office matters. I'm busy with work."

—Busy avoiding you!

"You must be tired."

"You're right. So, I'll go straight to—"

Before she could finish choosing an excuse to run away, she was pulled hard and fell in his lap.

His nose nuzzled her neck. "You're forgetting something."

She held back her amusement. "I-I forgot to pick up Fillo, sorry."

He laughed crisply. "Not that, Lexa."

Of course not that. She knew that he must be waiting for his goodnight kiss like their activities for the past month. But now things were different. Her view cannot be the same towards this bastard. If before she was still full of doubts, now that it had been proven, all that was in her heart was hatred.

Ugh.

Alexa looked away at nothing but to meet Ray's eyes.

But he pulled her cheek gently. "Hey, look at me."

His head went forward, almost wanting to butt her in and give her a kiss, but she dodged. He thought she wasn't ready, so he tried again, only to be avoided again. She wouldn't even look at him at all.

Then he realized that her eyes were swollen.

"Alexa, are you okay?" he asked.

"I've had quite a lot of work, I'm a little tired," she explained.

Coincidentally, he was taking care of purchasing empty land which he had discussed with her at that time. So he immediately excitedly said, "Um, do you remember about that empty—"

"Please, Ray, not now. I'm really, really tired," Alexa interrupted.

Ray, "..."

Alexa, "I'm sorry, but—"

His kiss on her lips stopped her sentence and she was shocked. Completely shocked, her body was as stiff as a lifeless rock. A touch on her head immediately sent an electrical signal and made her come to her senses again.

Ray stroked her hair very gently. "I got it. It's not your fault. Sorry for holding you up. Go to sleep."

Softly spoken words like these, why did they have to come from the mouth of a bastard?

"You're not angry?" Alexa provoked, she was still curious about this man's true nature and wanted to see his true ugliness.

"Why should I be angry?" Ray was even confused, he helped her back to her feet. "Don't forget to take a warm shower so your body relaxes."

Since she didn't get what she wanted to know, she didn't insist either.

Without looking at him, she turned towards the stairs and was ready to sleep hugging her son so she could be sure that Fillo was still there for her. She also had to think of an excuse to return to her own home, she couldn't stay here for too long. She couldn't.

There are many ways to ... take revenge, there's no need to choose to stay together, right? She was afraid, she couldn't hold back her hatred, thus destroying all plans.

Ugh.

It was still five steps when she was about to climb up and her feet suddenly stopped. She turned around.

And it turned out ... Ray was still looking at her from his sitting position on the couch, not blinking and his smile was faint. This made her quite surprised.

His eyebrows rose. "Did you forget anything?"

This time it was a question, and she probably answered it with a question too.

"What's wrong?" Ray asked again.

Alexa finally sighed, looking straight at him.

"Ray, do you want to do it with me?"

... to be continued ...
