Chapter 39: Chapter 39
Ray's maroon Rolls-Royce always grabs the attention of many people on the road. This type of car was different from the last time she was on board, this one has the sensation of a sports car when driven, and passengers will feel like they were in an airplane cabin.
There was a slight cold scent lingering in the car—like the arrogant scent of Ray.
He held the steering wheel, rubbed his fingertips lightly and glanced at the woman in the co-pilot from the corner of his eye. "You look tired."
The white cheeks were a bit dry and dull.
Maybe because it was night, the lighting wasn't as sharp as during the day, and made her look different.
"Too many clients lately, I barely get any rest."
In the back seat, Fillo was already asleep hugging his rabbit bag. His knitted hat was askew due to the uncomfortable position he was in, but he slept very soundly.
Alexa massaged her hands a little, being a boss doesn't mean you can relax when deadlines are running out. She actually stepped in to do the decorations with the employees because there was a shortage of people. Not just one or two jobs a day, it can even be done in seven different places.
Since many clients from large companies request her services, those who are satisfied will recommend her by word of mouth. So her business is now known to many people. According to her personality, she is persistent, agile and loves money; she never turned down a single client. That's why many people like it.
She sighed. "If it weren't for you, I would have forgotten about Fillo, Ray. I owe you a debt of gratitude."
"A debt of gratitude? Isn't that too much?"
Since the incident at his villa last time, the two of them have been very close. That was the moment she finally knew that Ray and Hailey were over.
She felt this is an opportunity for her to move forward.
"I just happened to want to ask how Fillo was doing. Didn't know you were that busy," he said.
"I'm swamped with work. I feel like my bones will fall out soon," she complained.
His gaze was very sympathetic. "Isn't it time for you to add more employees? Later you won't have to bother like this."
The steering wheel was turned all the way around the corner. The playground was actually not too far from her house, but he asked her to look for a restaurant and buy dinner first. He knew that because of her busy schedule, she would leave her stomach empty.
Their relationship had improved since the last time, somehow since then the two of them had gotten closer and closer.
"I've added enough in a week. The small building can't hold any more."
Suddenly Ray thought of something. "I remember there was quite a large empty lot in District Five. It was actually a neglected place. However, I feel like if you could get a few hectares of land there, in the next few years it would be busy."
Big businessmen are used to betting and often failing, so she took his advice a little to heart.
"Are you sure?"
"A colleague of mine suggested opening a hotel there, because it was close to his villa." Ray started to explain. "He said that the real estate would be built in a few years, so that could have potential."
"Then you will take it?"
"No."
"Why?"
The corner of his eye glanced at her meaningfully, but she didn't seem to notice. "Because I gave it to you."
She laughed dryly. "Buying new, larger land would be expensive."
For some reason, she felt an unusual fluctuation in her heartbeat. Instantly her interest in anything disappeared, not wanting to continue the topic.
"If you want to start something, sacrifice is necessary." Ray tried to persuade her.
After these words fell, the car stopped because they had arrived at her house, but the two of them did not immediately get off and looked at each other.
"I'll think about it later," she quickly broke contact with him, accidentally seeing someone's silhouette in front of her house.
Ray looked in the same direction. "It looks like someone is waiting for you."
With this, her brows frowned. She opened the car and got out to get her son in the back seat. Whatever commotion there was, the kid did not wake up.
Ray came out with a bag of food. "Hold this, let me carry him."
"Mn."
Ray felt that Alexa was a bit different, she easily gave Fillo to him. Even though usually she wouldn't want to. After a while he didn't think about it any further.
They walked towards the house together. That's when the person from the shadows jumped out.
"Lexa, I've been waiting for you for a long time."
Her expression didn't look good. "What are you doing here, Bryan?"
Ray glanced at Alexa with raised eyebrows.
Bryan's figure advanced step by step, and she retreated every time that happened.
"I missed you. So why can't I come?" asked Bryan laughing
"Go away!"
"Hey, why are you so cold? Look at me, Lexa! I miss you."
"No! Go away, you bastard! Get out of my sight!" Alexa used her bag to push Bryan but fails. That man has more power.
This was the first time Ray saw Alexa scared. As soon as she heard the man's name, he immediately acted. "Wait, dude. She doesn't want you anywhere near her."
Bryan's head snapped up only to see Ray distractedly. "Huh? Who are you? She's my girlfriend. Whether I have the right to approach her or not is none of your business."
At that time, Ray really saw Bryan's blue eyes, as Alexa said.
"Girlfriend?"
Ray's pupils darkened, gloomy and deep.
He narrowed his eyes at the man he had cursed in his heart. Even though it was only today that he saw him in person, he did not expect that he would actually be burning with anger. But when his lips parted, every word was cold like ice, “You are not qualified to be his boyfriend.”
Bryan said sarcastically, "Who the heck are you? His servant? His bodyguard?"
With that, he stepped aside from Ray, easily approaching Alexa again and pulling her hand roughly.
Alexa's wrist was almost crushed. "Let go! Let go of me, you bastard! We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Go away!
"Hey hey hey, don't be rebellious."
"No!" Alexa's voice trembled. "Get out of my sight or I will report you to the police right now!"
"Then do it." Bryan laughed.
He grabbed her shoulders, hugged her tightly, not caring that she struggled many times.
"Lexa, I heard that you have a son, I know you are now a sex addict, right? I wonder if that boy has a little of my blood?" Bryan laughed.
Her voice continued to scream until it was hoarse, "Let go, please ... ah."
Just screaming wouldn't make Bryan stop, but when she planned to hit the man's vital spot, the others immediately shouted, "Argh!"
Bryan fell to the ground, someone kicked him.
"You bastard!" he shouted.
His goal this time was Ray who had kicked him. He threw a fist forward. Luckily, Ray ducked before the blow hit his face, then spun quickly, giving Fillo to Alexa.
"Call the police! Quick!" he said.
Alexa didn't answer, opened the phone.
"Lexa, you wouldn't dare!" Bryan warned him. "See what happens if you do."
Of course, she knew what would happen.
"Why don't I dare? This is persecution!" She exclaimed while dialing the emergency number.
Bryan's anger was at the top of his head, so his energy increased many times over. He turned to push Ray easily. Approached her to snatch the phone and threw it on the ground.
"You—"
Bryan laughed with satisfaction. "Didn't I warn you that I can do anything?"
His hand rose to grab her again, but he was sent back to the ground next. Someone was now towering over him, grabbing him by the front collar, punching him.
Ray's blue eyes narrowed at him.
"Lay a finger on her again and you're a dead meat?"
His voice was dull and cold, even the aura radiating from him seemed gloomy like hell.
... to be continued ...
