Chapter 41: Chapter 41
"You look so beautiful." Rella said as Van came out of the fitting room in a lacy white gown with a sweetheart neckline going past her ankle.
"My gosh I'm so nervous."
Van laughed shakily as she came to stand in front of the floor length mirror to get a good look at her dress. Everything was moving so fast it was overwhelming but the joy she felt in her heart was overflowing as well it was a good feeling overall and Van couldn't think of a perfect time to marry the man of her dreams.
"We all went through that it's only wedding jitters you'll get over it." The sales lady told her.
"Van I agree." Rella said. "You just need to focus on being the most beautiful bride ever."
Van couldn't help the smile that stretched her lips. She has everyone who loves her by her side and all the support was making tear up but then she remembered Rella's wedding, how her friend must've felt so alone and afraid to be put in such a tight spot by her family. All in all it was a blessing that everything turned out great and they both were in love.
"Is it too late to ask you to be my maid of honour?"
"Do you even need to ask? wait, did you have someone else in mind because then I'll be mad?"
"Of course not you're the only best friend I have, you're practically family."
"Awwn now you're gonna make me cry." Rella teased and they both laughed.
Van had imagined that when she would get married it would be her father who would walk her down the isle and give her away to her groom but it was not to be. As it turns out, Karl was doing a good job of it even giving Jake a long sermon on how he'd mutilate him if he ever hurt her. Jake's friends Christian, Dave and Stefan all showed up to support them.
The dress looked divine as soon as she was all dolled up and she looked so gorgeous that even her brother Karl was in awe.
Jake was flanked by his friends on the altar a satisfied smile on his handsome face. The organ played as Van approached the altar accompanied by her brother, her heart pumping furiously. She wasn't afraid to face her future, on the contrary, she was looking forward to it.
They read the vows they had prepared and afterwards they shared their first kiss as a married couple.
Jake carried his bride over the proverbial threshold into their hotel room despite her protests. "It's tradition and i'm not about to be the first man to break it." he rebutted.
She rolled her eyes. "Oh please, that is so lame."
" Well suck it up cause I'm a gentleman." Van giggled but he shut her up by kissing her.
Jake set her down at the foot of the Queen-sized bed. Sweet-scented candles gave the room a soft romantic glow. He loved the way the light danced on her hair, and how expressive her eyes were as she stared up at him, her full lips plump from his kisses.
"This time it is right." Jake kissed her knuckles. "We'll make pleasant memories to replace the unpleasant ones." he pulled her close and caressed her cheek.
Van's eyes drooped on their own volition and the thrills of passion that ran through her felt like he was touching her for the first time.
"I love you so much Van."
"And I love you too."
"Nothing can tear us apart I promise. We're in this together."
When they kissed, Van melted like butter in a hot pan.
Nothing can tear them apart.
Jake kissed her like he was learning the crevices of her mouth. He touched her like he was doing so for the first time. Their caresses slow and languid as they learn about each other.
