Chapter 127: Chapter 127
Sebastian fought the urge to retch as he observed his surroundings and the woman in front of him. If this was where Carol was staying, then he would drag her home with him today, even if he had to drag her kicking and screaming. He would not have her stay with this woman who did not like her and was clearly very irresponsible.
"Hello, Belinda. Sorry to disturb you, but we're looking for Carol. Is she here?" Mrs. James asked.
"How the fuck am I supposed to know where she is, huh? Anyway, what is it to you? Is the contract not supposed to be over? Why are you still looking for her?" Belinda asked suspiciously, and he could see that she was also high on drugs.
"Well, um, we had a little altercation, and I haven't seen her since then, so I was wondering if she was here. Do you perchance, have her number? Her dad is also not answering his calls."
"Look, I don't have any business with those people anymore. In case you did not realize, Donald and I are separated, and I'm trying my best to convince him not to sell my house after we finalize our divorce. He owes me that much at least." She paused, apparently realizing that she had veered off the topic at hand, and tried to recollect what it was. "The last thing I need is for you to come here and start asking me all these dumb questions, okay?" Belinda spat, looking over her shoulder into the house where the sound of a man's voice was coming. All this while, they were still standing by the door, as she blocked it with her body, her posture suggesting that she did not want them to come in.
"Please, it's urgent, Belinda. If you have Carol's number, please give it to us." Mrs. James pleaded, just as a strange-looking man appeared from nowhere at Belinda's back.
"Who are these people, babe? Hmmm, they look really fancy. You did not tell me that you roll with fancy people." The man said, eyeing Sebastian's Rolex and expensive-looking suit, and the expensive jewelry that was on Mrs. James's neck and wrists.
"I may be able to tell you where her father is staying, for a small fee. He should be able to tell you where she is, after all, she is his daughter, not mine." Belinda said, ignoring the man, her eyes shining with greed.
"Sure. You give us the address of her father and I'll transfer ten thousand dollars to you right now." Sebastian told her, desperate to get away from there. This was so not his scene.
"Hmmm..." Belinda muttered, pretending to think it through, and then shaking her head dramatically. "No, that amount is way too small. Make it fifty thousand and you have yourself a deal." She finished.
Sebastian shook his head, turned, and began to walk away, his aunt following him. He could hear the man urging Belinda to take the money.
"Wait! She called out desperately, running after them when Sebastian and his aunt paid her no mind at first. "I'll take the ten thousand." She said finally, and in no time, gave them the address. Before long, they were on their way to the house, Sebastian's heart-pounding furiously the whole way. He was about to see Carol after a whole month, and he did not know she'd react to his presence.

"What do you mean by she's not here?" Sebastian thundered, scarcely able to credit what he was hearing. It was all he could do not to barge into the house and storm through the rooms, sure that he would see Carol hiding somewhere in one of them.
"Exactly what I meant by she's not here. She left two days ago, after the wonderful text you sent to me. I have you to thank for that, by the way. I don't know where she is, where she's gone, or how she's faring."
"Oh. You don't know where she's gone? Maybe if you had been answering my text instead of ignoring them and had let me come talk to her before now, she would not be gone." Sebastian said.
"Look, billionaire or not, I will not have you talk to me that way in my own house, okay? Maybe what you should have said was that you should not have accused her so stupidly, or sent her packing in the rain, and she would still be in your house and accounted for." Donald said angrily.
"You're right. I'm sorry, Mr. Donald. I let my emotions get the better of me and should not have spoken to you that way, especially not for something that is all my fault. Please, I really need to find Carol."
"That makes two of us. Why are you so desperate to find her, anyway?" Donald asked, gesturing at Mrs. James to sit down, while he glared at Sebastian.
"I don't know if she told you, but she's carrying my baby. She should be with me where I can take care of them both, not running around somewhere doing god-knows-what." Sebastian said.
"I thought you asked her to get rid of the baby that you are not interested in raising it. How sure are you that she has not done exactly that?" Donald asked, relishing the way Sebastian's face paled at that statement. He was sure as hell not going to make this easy for the man who had broken his daughter's heart.
"Oh. She got rid of our baby?" Sebastian asked, the pain in his voice evident and confusing the hell out of Donald. Sebastian looked as though he really wanted the baby.
"I didn't say that. She did not confide in me whether she did or not. All I'm saying is that she told me that was what you said, so I don't know if she has done that or she wants to keep the baby." Donald said at last. He needed time to discuss things with Carol before he would know what to do.
"Okay. It doesn't matter if she did or not. What matters is that she is ok. So please, if you know where she is, kindly give me the address so that I can talk her back into coming home."
"What home is that exactly?" Donald asked. "The home in which you are still harboring your ex? What are your plans for my daughter, Sebastian? I really need to know that before anything else."
Sebastian took a deep breath and sighed before answering. "I'm in love with your daughter, sir. These past weeks without her have been the longest weeks of my life and the thought that the longer I stay without her, the greater the possibility of her not wanting anything to do with me any longer is really scary. I just want to ask for her forgiveness in person. I know that if I see and talk to her, I'll be able to convince her. Please Mr. Donald, just let me talk to her."
"I don't know... Anyway, I'm not sure that she would want to talk to you, because she's convinced that you want to take her child away from her after it is born." Donald began uncertainly, knowing that Carol wouldn't want Sebastian to know where she was but also knowing that she was hurting as much as this man in front of him seemed to be hurting.
"I'm sorry about that, but I was only trying to get to her. That was childish of me, and I will never do something like that to Carol." Sebastian said, sounding like you meant it and further breaking Donald's resistance.
"Donald, please give my Sebastian a chance. If he meets Carol and she still refuses to accept him, then I will personally make sure that he doesn't bother her again." Mrs. James put in. Sebastian glanced at her immediately, not sure that he agreed to such a condition, but at that moment, Donald began to speak again, so he had to turn his attention back to him.
"As I said earlier, I don't know where she has gone, but I have her phone number. I'll call her and let you talk to her. How about that?"
"Thanks so much. That is all I need." Sebastian said gratefully as Donald picked up his phone, and began to call Carol, putting the phone on the loudspeaker. Soon the phone began to ring, each tone resonating deep within Sebastian's pounding chest as he waited to hear her voice.
