Chapter 115: Chapter 115

At this, Carol rubbed her forehead wearily, resisting the urge to push Jessica outside the room and slam the door shut in her face.

"Can we just not do this right now? I'm not feeling too good." She said instead.

"I don't give a flying fuck about how you feel. I just want you out of my room. I can't be staying in a smaller room, as though I'm a damn guest in a house that is mine while you are staying in my big comfortable room and in my bed, so if you don't want any problems, just pack your things and leave now."

"You know what? Fine. I'll leave the room for you. Can you just stop yelling? I've got a massive headache." Carol conceded, not mentioning that her boobs were really sore too and she kept having this urge to throw up, not that it was any of Jessica's business, neither would Jessica care.

"God, I can't be pregnant." Carol thought inwardly, moving away from Jessica and applying some lotion to her body while Jessica looked on in irritation. Once she was done applying the lotion to her body, she stuffed some of her stuff in one of her bags and left the room, informing Jessica who was still standing there with a stupid look on her face that she would ask one of the maids to bring over her remaining stuff.

The room which Jessica was to stay in was just as spacious as the one Carol had been staying in, which Jessica claimed was hers, so Carol knew that the other woman just wanted to stir up trouble. The room had been prepared for Jessica's coming, so all Carol had to do was drop her bag while she waited for the maids to bring in her stuff from there. Tomorrow, she decided, she would go and get a pregnancy test strip first thing in the morning so that she could be sure and know what step to take. Her period had only been this late twice before, and she usually had all the symptoms that she was having right now whenever it was time for her period, so she could not exactly say which one it really was, but was hoping desperately that it would be her period.

However, she soon found that she could not bear the suspense any longer. She needed to know for sure, so she stood up, dressed up, and had one of the drivers quickly drive her to the nearest pharmacist, where she bought three of the strips. She did not think she could wait till morning to take the test, so she would use one this night, and then for confirmation, she would use another the next morning.

Once she got back, she went into the bathroom on shaky legs, peed into a small disposable cup, and put the strip into the cup as instructed on its pack, when she heard raised voices. One of them was Sebastian's and the other was Jessica's. Carol was surprised because she did not even know that he had come back home. They seemed to be arguing fiercely about something. She had never heard Sebastian raise his voice this high before, so she placed the test strip, which would be ready with results in five minutes as indicated on the pack, carefully on the sink and padded out to see Sebastian and Jessica standing in front of her old room and arguing.

"That's not what I mean, but she's still my wife, and I would not let you maltreat her, no matter what. The fact that Carol is quiet and would not speak up for herself doesn't give you the right to walk all over her." Sebastian was saying. Carol's heart warmed at the fact that he was taking her side over Jessica's, but she wished that they would bring their voices down. Their raised voices were worsening her headache.

"I don't get why you're yelling at me all because of that woman, who you just met over a year ago. It's my room, and I'm going to stay in it if I want." Jessica retorted, not backing down in the least.

"What happened to you, Jessica? You're so different from the person I used to know." Sebastian said, shaking his head. Neither of them noticed Carol standing there.

"What do you think happened to me, huh? I'm asking you. I was kidnapped, tortured, and all that just because that crazy bitch wanted to get back at your uncle, meaning that I was punished for something that was not my fault. Do you think that I don't see the way you look at me? You blame me for not being on good terms with your uncle before she killed him!"

"That's not true, Jessica."

"It's true! You and I both know it very well. But I'll tell you this. If you're blaming me, then you should be blaming your precious wife too, because if not for her stupidity in befriending that psychopath, your uncle may still be alive. I will not take the blame for that too." Jessica spat.

"I don't blame anybody for it, okay? And if you will stop yelling for even a minute, you will..." Sebastian began to defend himself, but Jessica cut him off.

"And now, my torturer is walking about as free as a bird, and I still have to go around watching my back, while people look at me as though I'm a circus animal everywhere I go. Do you know how horrible that feels?"

"Charlotte has been arrested this afternoon." Sebastian cut in finally, effectively shutting Jessica, who stared at him with eyes as wide as saucers, up. Carol too, barely managed to suppress her gasp where she was still standing unnoticed by the two conversing people.

"Are you being serious right now?" Jessica asked shakily, and Carol could just imagine tears filling those blue eyes and making them shimmer. "Please tell me you're not joking, Sebastian."

"I would never joke with something like that, Jessica." He replied softly. "She was arrested this afternoon in New York, where she was trying to shoot at her twin brother, just like that. I mean, it feels so surreal. The girl is really crazy to go after her blood like that."

"Oh, thank God! Thank goodness! I can't believe that she's been caught at last." Jessica breathed and launched herself into Sebastian's arms, crying profusely against his body, while he held her tightly, kissed her forehead and hair, and murmured soothing words to her as he tried to comfort her. They remained there that way for some time, with Jessica crying against Sebastian while he held and comforted her. Carol stood by her door watching them, unable to tear herself away for some reason. At last, Jessica's tears seemed to be finally spent and she drew back from Sebastian's arms, smiled shakily at him, before leaning forward to take his lips in a possessive kiss, which from where Carol was standing, was clearly reciprocated. She had expected him to push Jessica away, but even as she stood there for some seconds, he didn't push her away, and it was becoming too unbearable to watch, so she turned and went back into her room, closing the door behind her as tears flooded her eyes and began to make their way steadily down her cheeks. She only had herself to blame for the horrible ache and pain in her chest at that moment, which worsened a millionfold when she got back to the room, picked up the pregnancy test strip that she had peed on a few minutes ago, and saw the two bold red lines. She was pregnant for Sebastian and had just caught him kissing his ex, Jessica, who incidentally was living with them.
