Chapter 15: Chapter 15

I could see Ravi had to work hard to bring back his previous image in business. But, unfortunately, despite all his efforts, he could not get his stakeholders back. They were very reluctant to join his company further. They were more worried about their image. Somehow, he was running his business and trying his best to allure the new stakeholders. Again, nothing was working.

It was true, he did not ask me for financial help, but I did not take much time to get it; he was going through a massive financial crisis. And frequent calls from moneylenders confirmed my doubts regarding it. But I pretended to him that I was not getting at all why I was receiving so many calls.

But his male ego was coming on his way to ask me for any sort of financial support. Besides, have a word with me on that topic. Therefore, without making him realize anything, I began to make many household expenditures on my own. Actually, the desperate desire to be a good wife pushed me to help him on his odd days, but my assistance was not enough for him to come out of his massive problem.

Anyway, down the line, I learned he was in profound debt from head to toes. His share rate had been reduced sharply. And he was reduced to selling his company to pay back all the loans and payments of the employers to whom he had not paid for the past two months. His falling business harmed his health as well. And one morning, his blood pressure started to shoot up so quickly, we admitted him to the hospital.

The doctor intimated that his condition was critical enough, and any awful news would be dangerous for him. I did not get at all what I did then. I wanted to call my mother-in-law for help, but Ravi stopped me from doing so. I was left with no other option except to handle his collapsed business and take care of him. The first measure I took was to sell off all the jewellery to pay off the loan he had taken from the market. I used up all my savings as well to get rid of the loan without any second thought.

That measure was, but not enough to eradicate the problems. But, indeed, it reduced the pressure of the market on us. Coupled with, it brought back investors' trust that the company was getting back on its trackback. I had the responsibility of running two different sorts of businesses simultaneously. And the worst thing was, I did not know much about Ravi's business. But I did not let it go like that.

I asked my friends to take care of my business as long as Ravi did not recover fully and joined his office. And they got ready to assist me. It did not take much to realize that his company was running at a heavy loss, and it was in a rickety state. I worked on laying off staff and making them settle somewhere else. I had a good number of clients in my familiarity. I took their help and settled all those staff in the other places that seemed unnecessary at home and in the office at the same time. That was my smart step, and it helped to reduce 20% of office expenditure.

That was true; I did not get much about the nature of his job. Until recently, I was trying my best to handle odd situations. And to a great extent, I could solve the issue. I felt I could cut unnecessary expenditures on extravagant. I knew it would hurt other staff's feelings, but I needed to take that measure to subside the spending. I reduced the spending on stationery by 10%. Tea and coffee were served all day long. I abated the number of beverages two times. I restricted the use of mobile phones.

The company introduced new rules according to the-day's payment. Sometimes the cut off as the business experiences delays. The office gate remained locked. This action was taken to reduce the chances of leaking information to the public. I worked on reducing the consumption of electricity and water as well. I could see the brewing resentment among the few staff for those changes, but I did not budge.

After the office, I used to meet with Ravi every day, and I told him all about the office affairs, which he used to listen to carefully and equip me with the required instructions. No doubt, Ravi was very impressed with those reforms. And he was not miser in words in praising me. Without a doubt, I used to feel good and overwhelmed when he said good things about me. His recovery was also speedy, and we were expecting that they would discharge him in another couple of days.

I talked to his past clients and convinced them that Ravi was entirely innocent and trapped. It was indeed an arduous job for me to gain the confidence of clients again and convince them to reunite the company. A few clients did indeed come forward, but the rest were very reluctant. Anyway, things were improving, but it was not enough to revive the rickety company. The company needed some more clients. I changed the strategy of the company then.

By God's grace, my idea worked in wonder, and the company came back on track to some extension. Ravi had also recovered a lot. The doctor wanted to keep him in the hospital for a few more days, but he reluctantly stayed there further. Finally, I took him back home to discharge him. He was thrilled to come back home.

He was excited about returning to his office the other day. He had lost all hope of retrieving his almost collapsed company. I was undoubted, delighted for him. Since we both had to go to the office together the other day, we finished the party in two hours. After that, we went to bed straight and fell asleep quickly. The other day, my eyes opened to a heavy knock on the door.

I could not understand why they were banging the door together. When I opened the door, all the staff seemed scared, as if something wrong had happened. They had all been giving a knock at the door repeatedly for the last half an hour, but no sound came out from that room. Our mobiles were in silence, so we could not hear the ring. I ordered them to bring two cups of tea and took a turn waking up Ravi.

To my surprise, he was already awake and grinning, looking at me. He told me that he had gotten up a long time ago, and he was just waiting for me to get up. Yes, after a long time, I had a sound sleep. We wanted to linger in bed for some more time, but it was already getting late. We reached the office at ten o'clock. Everyone welcomed Ravi wholeheartedly. Their facial expression told me that they were desperately waiting for their actual owner. I stayed there for one more hour. After that, I left for my own office. I put the keys on his table only. Ravi wanted to drop me off at my office, but I stopped him.

After that, I left for my own office. I put the keys on his table only. Ravi wanted to drop me off at my office, but I stopped him.

Before going to the office, I had to meet someone. I wanted him to handle the management at the office. I stopped the cab from dropping me off at the office. Simultaneously, a woman reached forward, showing her desire. Her voice seemed familiar. I knew I recognized her. She was dressed in a western outfit, and her face was covered with a piece of cloth. She was wearing a pair of glasses. When the car moved, the lady removed her glasses. She was none other than my new mother. I gave her a tight hug.

I wanted to tell you about our improved relationship. I was telling her blah in my excitement. But suddenly, she held me in both of her hands and shook me hard, yelling at me like anything,

"Are you entirely psychic? How can you lose your heart in front of him and empty yourself psychologically and economically before him? I asked if she could not see that he was playing an enormous game along with your emotions. He disclosed one truth before you. You fell into his trap. You fell in love with the person who still doubted you and wanted to wreck you entirely.

You know! His game was to get sick and extract all the money from you without letting you know anything. He has never been worthy of your trust. Now, I can not help you anymore. Your new mother also has some limitations. I can not pulverize him in my heart. You have ruined yourself. "

She had tears rolling down her eyes, and she was crying hysterically. I was stupefied for a few minutes. I could not believe my ears at all. It was getting hard for me to accept the bitter fact that Ravi had been playing with my emotions in those days. And his doctor friend had been supporting him in his scheme. And I was so blinded by love at that age that I could not nail their trick.

My eyes welled with tears. I felt the pain in my heart as I had felt long back when my new mother had fled from the house. Ravi doubted me that I was involved in a conspiracy against him, but he did not let it appear on his face in the last few days. I felt terrible when I came to know how smart Ravi was in fooling me with my trick.

But gradually, the pain in my heart dissipated. I made myself understand that I had been doing the same thing with Ravi for so many years, being a perfect wife, but he did not believe me. He was brilliant, and therefore, he did not fall into my trap. That was unfair and stupidity on my part that I could not get into his trap and became his victim.

At that moment, I realized a bitter truth about myself. I always had a wrong notion about myself that no one could play with my emotions, and I did not take much time to get human feelings. I was overconfident in myself.

I gave a hug to my new mother and soothed her. I made her believe I was hurt, but I was strong enough, and I could handle myself. She got relief when I told her I did not break before him in emotion at any point. So, he was still in doubt, and I had no intention of confessing to him about my involvement in his wreck. I did not feel like going to the office that day after that.

I showed my desire to spend some more time with her. I did not notice it was Atul in the chauffeur seat, driving the car. When I showed my passion, Atul suddenly spoke,

"As you wish, your highness,"

And he surprised me. He took the vehicle to the highway, made a call to someone, and told him over the phone to pack some gifts for Ravi so that if he inquired, I could tell him I was doing some shopping for him and going home.

When I inquired about my new mother, how she found out that my mother had gotten me married to Ravi, she told me that she had learned about it long back. Actually, she wanted to make you feel the pain a woman had to go through when her husband had another woman in her life. She was aware of his adultery nature as well. She had a strong antipathy towards you just because of your likeness to me. It made her do that.

I did not try to find anything about Ravi in detail just because I knew her mother, who was a gracious lady and the daughter of my maternal grandparents' village. Apart from that, your father told me that he was a nice person. There I made a huge mistake and did not try to find out more about the guy in more detail. Besides, I had never thought in my wildest dream ever that your mother could do so wrong with you.

Down the line, I learned that your mother had given him a hefty amount of money to establish his business and took his signature on the paper that he would marry you when he said it in return. It had gotten too late as long as she came to know about it.

Therefore, she installed one of the chaps at Ravi's place for my safety. She disclosed to me one more secret: that there was one more chap working there who would take care of me, but they refused to tell me his name. I also did not force them to speak their name. But I had decided that I would give a tough time to Ravi.
