Chapter 276: Chapter 276

Alice sighed and replied swiftly.

After a moment of silence, Zaria sent another text back.

Alice's smile twitched.

With that, Alice put the phone down and leaned against the wall.

Whether this was the correct decision or not, she wasn't sure.

When Lar asked her on her stance, Alice agreed, saying she'd help them kill Zaria.

But as a few hours went by, she regained clarity, and without wasting a second, contacted her friend, told her what was going to happen, and now, Alice merely leaned against the wall with a hollow look.

Why did I do that...? I wanted him too, Alice thought, a tear streaming down her cheeks.

She only realized she wanted something when it was no longer in her grasp.

However, Alice had to live with that choice now, and of course, she had to somehow steer Lar and the others away from Zaria.

She was obviously going to head toward the safe house she had built for all of them. But it would be a bit different since it had been quite a while since anyone had been there.

In turn, she likely made some modifications to the warehouse, and if she did, then all of them had to be real careful.

Nonetheless, just as Alice was thinking of going to sleep to wash away the pain she was feeling, her phone rang, revealing a message from none other than Asher.

What a creep... Alice thought, putting her phone on the desk and getting into bed.

Tomorrow would be a very long day, but for now, all she wanted to do was sleep.

She was suddenly awoken by her phone practically blowing up from the amount of notifications she was getting.

Therefore, Alice swiftly stood up, put on her gown, and checked her phone.

There were dozens of messages, some from Lar, a couple from Zaria, and even a single one from Neraxis.

Oh... this is the first time he's messaged me without me messaging him first, Alice thought with a wide smile as she rocked her feet back and forth.

However, the moment she opened the message, she froze.

Huh? Alice tilted her head.

Her heart practically sank down to her stomach, but she didn't waste any time and proceeded to check Zaria's messages.

There were 4 in total, and the more she read them, the more she could understand the situation.

Is that where it ends? Alice tried scrolling down, but there were no more messages.

She'd been safe. Then the government attacked, which lead to some kind of injury. And finally, she either succumbed to that injury, or something else happened entirely.

Either way, whenever Alice tried sending texts to her, she was always met with the same pop ups.

God fucking damn it... Alice banged her fist on the bed, and then opened Lar's messages.

And then his last message.

Alice couldn't help but want to throw the phone into the wall, however, she held herself back and decided to defuse the situation before it got too much out of hand.

Her main skill had mutated a few months ago. In a way, she was no longer a healer, and could now influence memories of the people she came into contact with.

There was a cost like always, however, it was just a bit of her life force, nothing she truly cared about.

Alice held her phone with trembling hands, clicked on a particular contact, and sent a message.

She didn't want to do it. But if she didn't do it, then Neraxis would either kill himself, or kill all of them and only then kill himself.

Either way, after not receiving a response, she headed to the one place she knew he'd be.

After all, the one surefire thing she knew about him, was the fact that he dealt with grief in the place where he felt the loneliest.
