Chapter 99: Chapter 99

"I, Zahir Ahmed al Zidra, hereby accept my role as the ruling Sheikh of the Sultanate of Zidra. I shall continue to preserve, and build upon the royal legacy and shall reign with righteousness for the benefit and happiness of the people forever." Zahir vowed, as he stood on the podium, with his right palm over his chest and his eyes staring straight ahead at the people of Zidra.

It was the coronation ceremony. Zahir Ahmed al Zidra was getting felicitated as the next ruling Sheikh of Arabian Nation if Zidra!

"I invite everyone here to share my determination and work together for the nation’s prosperity and the people’s happiness as the ultimate goals," Zahir added, his voice resonating with passion, instilling a sense of hope and anticipation among the people of Zidra.

His brothers and sisters were standing on either side as he made his vows to his nation and his people.

The security has been strengthened as there were many people attending the ceremony, including dignitaries from the other countries.

As the ceremony concluded, the atmosphere transformed into a grand celebration. Lavish tents adorned with rich fabrics and intricate patterns had been erected, filled with the aromas of traditional Zidran delicacies.

Plates overflowed with saffron-infused rice, tender lamb skewers, and an array of pastries drizzled with honey. Musicians played lively tunes, their melodies mingling with the laughter and chatter of guests from near and far, including dignitaries from allied nations, all eager to share in Zidra’s momentous occasion.

Amidst the celebration, Zahir found Emily standing at the edge of the festivities, her arms crossed and an amused expression on her face. He approached her, the weight of the day’s responsibilities momentarily forgotten.

“Look at you, Mr. Sheikh,” Emily teased, smirking. “I can’t believe you have finally made it. I hope you are ready for all the ‘I told you so’s’ I am about to throw your way in the future.”

“Oh, come on! You can’t act like you didn’t know I was destined for greatness. I mean, I am practically the top end royalty now.” Zahir grinned, leaning closer.

“Practically?” Emily laughed, feigning shock. “You are royalty! And now that you have officially become Sheikh, I suppose you will be giving us daily speeches on how amazing you are?”

“Daily? I was thinking of hourly,” he replied cheekily, crossing his arms in a mock regal pose. “You should be honoured to be by my side, milady.”

Emily snorted, shaking her head.

“Honoured? More like trapped. I am going to be stuck listening to your endless stories of grandeur. ‘Back in my day, when I was just the Crown Prince…’”

“Hey! Those stories would be valuable lessons in leadership!” Zahir shot back, trying to keep a straight face but failing miserably. “Besides, you are lucky to have me as a fiancé. I am practically a walking textbook of how to rule.”

“Oh, please! A textbook of arrogance, maybe,” Emily countered, poking his chest playfully. “You have been talking about this day for years. I bet you have got a whole speech prepared about how you are going to be the best Sheikh ever.”

“Of course, I do! But I am saving it for the people,” he said, puffing out his chest again. “I can’t just reveal all my secrets to you!”

“Secrets? Is that what you are calling it? More like a long-winded monologue that could put even the most patient person to sleep.” Emily raised an eyebrow.

“Hey! I will let you know that my speeches will be inspiring!” Zahir protested, his tone mock-indignant. “You will see. People will be talking about my coronation for years to come!”

“Right, and I will be right there to remind everyone that you were just a toddler playing dress-up in your father’s robes,” she teased, leaning in with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

“You know, I could always find someone who appreciates my royal charm more. Maybe I should just elope with the princess of some neighbouring country.” Zahir’s expression shifted from playful to mock-serious.

“Oh, really? Good luck with that! I am sure she will love your ‘royal charm’ right until she hears about your obsession with your own reflection!” Emily’s eyes widened.

“You are stuck with me, Emily! Whether you like it or not!” Zahir laughed, playfully grabbing her shoulders.

“Oh, trust me, I will remind you every day how lucky you are to have me around to keep you grounded,” Emily retorted, giving him a playful shove.

As they exchanged banter, Zahir leaned closer, the teasing glint in his eyes shifting to something more genuine.

“You know I wouldn’t want it any other way, right? You keep me real.”

“Of course, I do. Someone has to remind you that you are still just Zahir,” Emily replied, her smile softening.

“Yeah,” Zahir conceded, pulling her closer. “But just remember, once I am settled into this role, you might need to start addressing me as Sheikh Zahir.”

“As if I would ever do that! You will always just be my badboy, no matter how much power you think you have.” Emily rolled her eyes dramatically.

Zahir chuckled, leaning down, and their foreheads touched.

“You are right. And that’s what I love about you. You are the only one who can keep my head out of the clouds. Just promise me you'll always remind me not to take myself too seriously.”

“Deal,” Emily whispered, a genuine smile breaking across her face. “But I can’t promise I won’t enjoy every moment of reminding you how insufferable you can be.”

Zahir grinned, kissing her softly, the weight of the day’s responsibilities momentarily forgotten as they lost themselves in each other amidst the joyful chaos of the coronation celebration.
