Chapter 69: Chapter 69

“God! He is so possessive..” Zahir chuckled, watching his brother running behind Emma who is all set to climb on the pillion of a motorcycle with some random Ethan.

“Look, who is talking?” Zada said, rolling her eyes and Zahir made a face at that.

“I don’t have a love interest to get possessive about, little Zada.” Zahir said, ruffling her hair, earning a glare in return.

“You are possessive in all your relationships, Zahir. Momma, me, Zian or anybody. I shudder imagining Emily’s condition in the future..” Zada said teasingly and Zahir glared at her.

“Emily? What does Emily have got to do with this?” Emil, who was silent until now, asked in confusion.

Zada bit her tongue and cursed herself for blurting out her thoughts, without noticing Emily’s beloved brother sitting next to them.

“Uh Emily..” Zada chuckled nervously.

“Don’t mind her, Emil. She is just crazy. She reads all sorts of nonsense romance and has somehow come to a conclusion that I and Emily would eventually fall in love. As if!” Zahir said with a scoff and Emil frowned.

“By the way, where is Emily?” Zada asked curiously.

“She started from her institute. She will be here any moment..” Emil said and true to his words, Emily walked in.

She was wearing a black jeans, black t-shirt and a black leather jacket. Zada shot a teasing smile at Zahir and wiggled her eyes, pointing at his outfit and then at Emily’s.

Zahir rolled his eyes realising that Zada was teasing him for their matching outfit.

“Where is Emma?” Emily asked, as she took a seat next to Emil.

“Went for a bike ride with Zian.” Zada was the one to answer.

“Oh! Shall we leave then, Emil?” Emily asked, not wanting to spend any more time there.

Zahir completely ignored her presence and scrolled through his phone.

Their behaviour made everyone suspicious. It was already time for two arguments to be over. They haven’t even looked at each other yet.

“Zahir, baby..” Heera sashayed her way towards them and sat next to Zahir, wrapping her arms around his.

Liam shot a sideways look at Zada and saw her glaring at him.

“What? She isn’t sticking to me. She is sticking to your brother. Glare at him if you want.” Liam whispered, earning a pinch from Zada.

“I just saw Zian going on a bike ride with that girl. How about we also go for a romantic ride, Zahir?” Heera asked in a suggestive tone, running a finger along the side of his face seductively.

Heera's suggestive tone and flirtatious gestures didn't go unnoticed by Zahir. He smirked, revelling in the attention, and leaned into her touch. His eyes, however, darted discreetly towards Emily, and he couldn't help but notice the flash of irritation that crossed her face.

Meanwhile, Emily was trying hard to contain the surge of jealousy that gripped her. This girl was clearly making a move on Zahir, and she couldn't understand why it bothered her so much. The intensity of her possessive feelings startled her, and she clenched her fists, trying to maintain composure.

Zahir, enjoying the little game, decided to play along.

"A romantic ride, Heera? That sounds tempting," he responded, shooting a mischievous and discreet glance at Emily.

Liam, seated next to Zada, observed the unfolding drama. Zada shot a concerned look at Emily, who seemed on the verge of an outburst.

Heera, encouraged by Zahir's response, leaned in closer, whispering something in his ear. Zahir laughed, a low, throaty sound that only fueled Emily's annoyance.

Unable to contain herself any longer, Emily interrupted, her voice cutting through the charged atmosphere.

"Excuse me, Heera, right? I find it disrespectful that you refer to my sister as 'that girl.' Show some decency, will you?" Emily snapped at her.

Zahir's eyes flickered with amusement, catching the hidden fire in Emily's words.

"Oh, I didn't mean—" Heera, caught off guard, stammered.

"I don't care what you meant. Just remember to use proper names. Her name is Emma. And you should respect her." Emily declared, her voice steady but laced with an underlying fury.

Zahir, relishing Emily's bold defence, decided to fan the flames.

“Hey, cool down, Emily. Heera obviously didn’t mean any disrespect. She is not like that. Isn’t that right, darling?” Zahir asked, shooting a flirty smile at Heera.

“Of course, baby.” Heera purred, thrilled at the attention Zahir was showering upon her.

“I was not talking to you, Zahir. So, you better not interfere when I am having a conversation with someone.” Emily said angrily.

“Oh but you interfered during a conversation I was having with Heera. And it was a very exciting conversation we were having.” Zahir said and Heera pouted, leaning against Zahir's shoulder.

Emily shot lasers at both Zahir and Heera. If looks could kill, both Zahir and Heera would have been six feet under the ground by now.

Unable to contain her anger any longer, Emily stood up abruptly.

"Come on, Emil. We are leaving," she declared, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Emil, sensing his sister's fury, nodded and stood up. He shot an apologetic look at the others before following Emily out of the cafeteria.

Outside the cafeteria, Emily was seething with a mix of jealousy and anger. She didn't understand why the sight of Heera flirting with Zahir had triggered such intense emotions. As they sped away from the university, she couldn't shake off the feeling that things were about to get even more complicated.

As the Langston twins left, Zahir couldn't help but grin at the turn of events.

“Zahir, baby, shall we also leave?” Heera purred and Zahir shrugged her off him and shot an annoyed look at her, startling her.

“The mood is gone, Heera. Why don’t you go and chase someone else?” Zahir asked in a bored tone. Heera stomped her foot and walked away after shooting a glare at Zahir.

“And they say, they don’t feel anything for each other.” Zada, amused by the entire spectacle, leaned towards Liam and whispered.

Zahir was still grinning, lost in thoughts and Zada poked him, bringing him out of his imaginary world.

“Care to explain what just happened now?”
