Chapter 41: Chapter 41
"Emma. We are going for dinner at Liam's home tonight. I asked aunty if it is okay to bring a friend with me. Do you want to go with me?" Zian asked hopefully.
"Yes, yes, yes. I will go anywhere with you Zi-Zi," Emma squealed, making Emil frown in confusion.
"Wait a second. Emma?" Emil called out, dragging Emma and Zian out of their happy moment.
"Yes, Emil?" Emma asked curiously.
"Why would you go anywhere with Zian?" Emil asked. He was confused by Emma's behaviour with Zian, and before he could ask what she was talking about, Emma had started her Greenwich Express, distracting him.
"Because it's Zi-zi, Emil." Emma said in a duh tone, confusing Emil more.
"So? Why would you go anywhere with him? And what did you mean by ‘you like him’?" Emil asked, leaning forwards in his chair, with a serious look on his face.
Liam grinned in excitement.
"Let me see how your brother is going to talk his way out of this. I think it skipped everyone's mind that Emma is Emil's little sister." Liam whispered to Zada happily.
"Today Zi is gonna get skinned alive, darling" Zahir whispered to Zada from the other side.
"Do something," Zada hissed at Zahir, seeing the panicky look on Zian's face.
"What can I do? Veritas, the Roman God of truth, wouldn't lie. He is going to admit he is in love with Emma and get beaten up." Zahir said with a helpless look on his face.
"Emil. Will Emily be coming here today? I couldn't talk to her yesterday. We have a lot to catch up on." Zada asked Emil, trying to distract him.
"You didn't have anything else to ask? You had to go ahead and ask about her?" Zahir grumbled in annoyance.
"She will come by to pick me. There she is." Emil said, pointing at Emily who was walking towards them with all the attitude she could show off.
Zian let out a breath of relief.
"Damn. Missed it," Liam said earning a glare from Zada.
"They are going to give me a tough time, Mirrie. Can't I simply hope to see them suffering too." Liam asked, making puppy eyes at her.
"What are you whispering to her?" Zahir asked with a frown making Liam roll his eyes.
"I am not whispering anything to her. I was simply humming a song." Liam lied, without a single change of expression.
"Hey Emil, Emma baby." Emily greeted her brother and cousin as she reached near them.
"Emily, I missed you." Emma said excitedly and hugged her elder cousin sister.
"I didn't though," Zahir mumbled under his breath.
"As if I am dying to be missed by you." Emily, who heard him, retorted instantly.
"I wouldn't, even if you get on your knees and beg me." Zahir said, rolling his eyes.
"Me? On my knees begging? You have weird fantasies, bad boy." Emily was quick with her retort.
"As if you would get an entry even in my fantasies. Not happening darling. Never!" Zahir said, faking an exaggerated shudder.
"Will you two please shut up. How do you manage to always end up always fighting?" Zada asked in irritation. These two will never change.
"Exactly my question," Emil said, huffing in annoyance.
"Your brother started it," Emily told Zada.
"Your sister started it," Zahir told Emil at the same time.
"Oh please. Shut up." Zian said in a fed up tone.
"Well, tell your brother to shut up." Emily said, making a face at Zahir.
"Nobody tells me what to do." Zahir said with an attitude, making Emily roll her eyes.
"Yes. Everyone knows you are a lost case and that there is no point in telling you anything." Emily said with a scoff.
"At least I don't jump into conclusions without knowing the full story and go around attacking innocent people." Zahir said, still miffed at the punch. Well, both the punches. The one fifteen years ago and the recent one.
"Innocent who? You definitely have a screw loose. Why else would you have the misconception that you are somehow innocent?" Emily asked with a sarcastic chuckle.
"What do they say? Everything appears yellow for people with jaundice." Zahir said in an off handed manner.
"Well, I won't argue. Your teeth definitely look yellow." Emily said, making a disgusted look on her face.
"For heaven's sake. Will you two please stop it? You guys have known each other for what? Two days? You are fighting like an old married couple." Liam said, seeing them going on and on like an old married couple.
"Two days? This love hate story has been going on for fifteen years." Zian snorted.
"It's a hate story. There is no love." Emily and Zahir said at the same time.
Emily raised an eyebrow at Zahir.
"You are saying this? You? Zahir Ahmed who claimed that I am yours?" Emily asked mockingly.
Everyone gasped in shock.
"He did what?\?" Zian and Zada asked, leaning forward in their chairs.
Zahir's ears and neck had turned pink in embarrassment.
"What rubbish. I don't even know what she is talking about." Zahir said adamantly.
"Really? Remember attending my parents' reception party? Where you tried to kiss me and claimed that 'You are mine'. Just before getting a punch from me." Emily asked with a smirk.
"Aww darling. I don't remember. But seems like you have been cherishing the memory all these years." Zahir said, wiping off the smirk from Emily's face.
"Yes. Bad memories tend to leave a bad taste." Emily retorted angrily.
"Have you been living in the fantasy world where you thought I would come and claim you as mine." Zahir purred, earning a stink eye from Emily.
"In your dreams," Emily said with a scoff.
"If you have a role in it, then it is called a nightmare." Zahir said with an exaggerated shudder.
"Finally. Something that I can agree on with you." Emily said with a huff.
"Ok guys. Today's quota is over. Em, let's leave?" Emil said, as he stood up from his chair and pulled Emily along.
Emily threw a final glare at Zahir and turned on her heels.
"Emily. Wait a second. Give me your number." Zada asked.
"Yeah sure," Emily said and took her phone out, so that she could take Zada's number in return.
Before she could tell her number, her phone rang.
"Its Aaron," Emily said seeing the caller ID
