Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Liam drove towards the small cliff top, less than half an hour away from his home.

He got down from his motorcycle and walked towards the edge.

It has been a while since he came here.

Almost a year and a half.

He laid down on the ground looking blankly at the sky.

The sun was setting and the golden red hue of the sky and the light breeze helped him relax to an extent.

"Well well well!! His highness Liam Fredrick back at the cliff top. I remember someone saying that he would never come back here," came a mocking voice.

Liam looked up at the intruder and rolled his eyes.

"What do you want now?" Liam asked in a bored tone.

"Shouldn't that be my question bro? I come here regularly." Came the pat response.

"You do?" Liam asked in surprise. He didn't expect that.

This place was special for both of them. They had found this place when they were around ten. And they hadn't brought anyone else here with them for the next ten years.

But a year ago, Noah broke their unsaid rule and that had led to a huge drift in their friendship.

Sounds silly?

Yeah! It might sound silly to a third person.

But it was a great deal for them.

Noah's excuse was that Liam was busy with his new friends, the twins.

So Noah took out his anger by bringing a newbie to their special place, which Liam couldn’t let go, no matter what.

"It's you who banned yourself from coming here. So now tell me, what are you doing here?" Noah asked as he laid next to Liam, just like how they used to.

It feels like old times, Liam thought with a sad smile.

"Of course, you must have been coming here with your many friends," Liam taunted, the incident still annoying him, even after one and a half years.

Noah sighed in exasperation.

"I never brought anyone here after that day. I was pissed off because you went for the movie with the twins," Noah said furiously.

"So I can't go for a movie now?" Liam asked, equally furious.

"You could have called me. I would have come too. But no. You were too busy forming bonds with the new friends." Noah said, still hurt at the feeling of being excluded from Liam's life.

"It was not intentional. They had three tickets. Someone else was going with them and he cancelled at the last moment. They asked me if I wanted to join. I said yes because I didn't have anything else to do." Liam said, trying to clear his part.

"It's not just that day, Liam. It has been building up for a while. And I just lost it that day." Noah said, not hiding his hurt.

"So you brought someone here. To our special place." Liam asked with a sarcastic chuckle.

"Yes. I just wanted you to know how I felt." Noah said and then groaned out loud.

"God!! I sound like a nagging girlfriend. Don't I?" Noah asked with a self disgusted look on his face.

Liam laughed at that.

"You do," Liam said, still chuckling.

"Why didn't we have this conversation before?" Liam added, wondering how they let their friendship grow apart like that. They were cousins by blood. But they were more friends rather than cousins.

"Maybe because it's very rare to find you alone without one or the other twin with you," Noah couldn't help but taunt.

"Not again," Liam rolled his eyes at that.

"So? What's happening? I was there at the cafe in the afternoon." Noah said, realising why Liam finally came here. His mind must be so disturbed after today’s incident.

Liam sighed.

"I had no idea," Liam admitted.

"And if you had?" Noah asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"If I had known in the beginning, I would have stayed away from her." Liam said.

"Really?" Noah asked, staring right into Liam’s eyes.

"I would have at least tried." Liam said and then sighed before adding his next comment.

"Wild horses couldn't have kept me away from her." Liam admitted earning a laugh from Noah.

"So what are you going to do now?" Noah asked curiously.

"I don't know. I think it would be better to tell them before they come to know from anyone else." Liam said,

"That might be a good idea. But I don't think they will take it easy." Noah said.

"Oh definitely not. I am bracing myself for the kicks and punches that are sure coming my way." Liam said imagining the twins' reaction when they come to know that their sister is his girlfriend.

"And your reputation is in no way going to help you." Noah mused.

Liam groaned at that comment!

"Why did I have to be such a playboy? I could have simply waited for my Mirrie to come along." Liam said with a disgruntled look on his face.

Liam's phone rang interrupting their conversation and he picked up the call on the second ring.

"Liam Fredrick. Where are you? It's seven in the evening. College hours got over three hours ago and you are still not home?" Madison asked in her no nonsense momma tone.

"I am on my way, mom." Liam said and hung up the call.

"Let's leave then," Noah said and got up along with Liam.

Liam hesitated, before pulling Noah into a hug.

"I never meant to exclude you in any way Noah. You will always be my buddy." Liam said.

Noah smiled.

"It was so difficult without you," Noah confessed.

"It was the same with me," Liam said and felt relieved after that admission.

"Okay no more soapy dramas." And they both chuckled.

Liam reached home soon and was welcomed home with a glare from his mother.

"Now what, mom?" Liam asked in a tired tone.

It’s high time he moved out, but his momma manages to emotionally blackmail him, every time he brings up the topic.

"Where were you? Did you go on a date with your Mirrie? Why didn't you tell me you are going on a date?" Madison complained earing an eye roll from her son

"I didn't go on a date. I just needed some fresh air, so I went for a solo ride." Liam said.

"Why? What happened?" Madison asked and Liam explained the drama that unfolded in the university that afternoon.

"Oh my! The twins' sister??" Madison exclaimed in surprise.

"They are not twins. They are triplets," Liam said,

"That's why I thought she looked so familiar. She has their eyes, doesn't she?" Madison asked, an image of Zada and the twins forming in her head.

"Yeah. How it skipped my notice, I still don't understand." Liam said with a sigh.

"Wow. Triplets. How awesome? Maybe you will have a set of twins or triplets after marriage. I have heard these things run in the family. OMG! Michael, did you hear that? There is a high chance that we will get triplet grandbabies. Aww! I can't wait" Madison got extra excited just at the thought of getting a set of twins or triplets as grandchildren.

"Mom. Please," Liam groaned at his mother’s dramatics.

"What? I can't even dream now?" Madison huffed in annoyance.

Michael Fredrick maintained a diplomatic silence leaving his son to deal with his crazy mom.

"I am going to take a shower." Liam said, trying to escape from this crazy discussion.

"Why don't you invite the triplets for dinner tomorrow?" Madison asked and Liam looked at his mom in alarm.

He could literally see his mom letting the cat out of the bag and creating chaos.

"We will see," Liam vaguely said and rushed upstairs, not giving his mother more chances to come up with more crazy ideas.

Madison Fredrick stared at her retreating son's figure determined.

If he doesn't invite them, I can easily invite them. After all, I have all three of their numbers with me, Madison thought to herself.
