Chapter 14: Chapter 14

During those last three days, immersed in countless thoughts, she had even wondered if what she felt wasn't something punctual. Just her body's crazy reaction to the situation and the extreme emotions she had experienced. But here was proof that it wasn't. On the contrary, it seemed even impossibly more intense. Even though his hands weren't even remotely close to her thighs this time, let alone her panties, she still felt hot… stinging. It was almost a relief to realize that desire really existed within her. Even if Logan was the only one capable of igniting that feeling inside her, Missy still felt happy to have proof that Liam was wrong about some of the things she said. Which meant maybe Logan was right…maybe they really were lying about everything. After all, when she was in that man's arms, with his lips caressing hers and his tongue penetrating the inside of her mouth in a way that made her panties wet again, she didn't feel cold, ridiculous or dry. She felt desired and wanting him back. She felt hot, needy, eager for him to touch her body and allow her to do same with his…

- Sutton?! - The shrill and indignant gasp of an unmistakable female voice made Missy freeze, but Logan's hands remained firmly on her waist, without any hesitation. Instead, he pulled her even closer, pressing her against him protectively as he parted their lips so they could lift their heads and stare at Liam, whose nose was completely wrapped in a bandage that Missy assumed was the result of the punch. that she had given him, and Suzan, who were standing, static and gaping, next to their table, looking stunned.

Or at least Liam looked stunned, as Suzan looked as if she were witnessing a heinous crime, judging by the way her expression was revolted.

- What did Mr. Knight doing with you? Suzan practically roared, even making some of the other customers turn their heads in her direction.

- I think you know very well what we were both doing, Foster. - Logan was the one who answered, his voice as cold as Missy was feeling at that moment, when she felt Liam's eyes on her. Thankfully, the more she held on to Logan for support, the more he pulled her close, which made her feel truly supported. Or rather, protected. "Now, would you please spare us your presence?" We are busy.

- Why were you kissing her?! Liam's gasp was so completely stunned and swaying that Missy almost felt embarrassed for him.

- I think even you are capable of reasoning enough to understand this for yourself, Newton. - Logan growled fiercely and Missy felt his whole body tense against hers, as if he was ready to attack - But, if you really need me to explain, then allow me: - Logan turned to her again and gave a those heartbreaking smiles – I asked Missy out. And we were starting to... celebrate. - The smile and the perverse tone of voice he used to say that made it clear to Liam and Suzan that he wasn't just talking about kisses.

And Missy had to squeeze her thighs together automatically, looking for some relief.

- You wanted to stay with her all this time?! – Suzan exclaimed with so much indignation that it almost seemed that Logan had said that she was dating an animal – With Sutton ?!

- You say it as if it wasn't obvious how much I wanted her, even while she was still engaged. – Logan sneered – But, judging by those stupid expressions, it seems that there is still some doubt left. What do you think, love? – Logan turned to her with a mischievous smile and caressed her lower lip with his thumb, green eyes shining with desire as he watched her bristle at that nickname – Shall we give them a few more demonstrations, until they finally realize the obvious?

Without thinking, Missy instinctively started to lick her lower lip before biting it, out of tension, but her tongue ended up catching the tip of his thumb by accident, which made Logan literally growl, a low, lust-filled sound that it made a new wave of heat arouse every part of her body... and, inexplicably, made her want to suck his finger all the way into her mouth, in case it was going to make him make that spicy sound again...

And for a second, she completely forgot that Liam and Suzan were still standing there watching them, stunned.

"No, they don't deserve that…" he whispered to her, so low that Missy doubted the two of them could even understand. "They don't deserve to see how beautiful you look when you're aroused." – He slowly caressed her flushed face, before smirking – But it's great that they got to see firsthand how lucky I am. - Before she could even react to all that, he wrapped her waist even more firmly, lifting her next to him as he stood up, facing Liam and Suzan with mockery and haughtiness - We better go, love. Obviously we are wasting time with this conversation. Let's finish our celebration… – he looked at her sideways, with malice seeping through her tone – In your apartment.

Without a second glance at the couple who continued to watch them in shock, Logan started to lead her out of the cafeteria, which she thanked him for. Everything inside her, including her mind, was lost between the pain of seeing again the people who had humiliated her and the new and addictive sensations that Logan had awakened in her. It was all confusing and incomprehensible, almost too intense for her to bear...

However, if there was one thing that was indisputable, it was that Logan was right again.

Liam and Suzan looked more than just annoyed to see her with him...

They looked outraged.

That became very clear when she started to hear Suzan's angry growl, before they completely left the cafeteria – He took advantage of what I did to be able to stay with her...?

- Are you okay? - It was the first thing Logan asked when the restaurant door closed and they started walking along the sidewalk.

-I… - Missy murmured, internally also trying to understand how she was. Conflicting emotions continued to rage inside her, and after much pondering, she could think of only one thing to say – I think it could have been worse. – she stated reluctantly – I mean, it was still a little uncomfortable seeing them again, but… At least they didn't have time to say anything that would make me feel even worse. – she concluded with a sigh.

- Soon you will feel nothing but indifference when you see them, I promise. – Feeling melting, Missy enjoyed the warm sensation of his kiss against her hair, finally realizing that they were heading towards the beautiful and elegant silver car parked in the street – Did you come in your own car? - Logan wanted to know, hugging her even more against his chest.

- No… – Missy answered, blushing, but still pressing herself against his chest too – I came by taxi. – being in her car, knowing everything Liam and Suzan must have done inside it, didn't exactly make her feel good.

"I'll give you a ride home then." – As she looked up, she noticed that Logan's smile had widened, becoming incredibly cheerful, as if the prospect of offering her a ride was the best part of his day.

Blushing, Missy climbed quietly into the passenger seat as he opened the car door for her. Everything inside smelled of him, woodsy and thick, wrapping her like a blanket, which was both comforting and unsettling. She was actually starting to feel very safe around him, but the safety in no way soothed her body's reactions. Which might be a good thing...

- You were right… - Missy admitted in a low voice, awkwardly, which only made Logan turn to her with a mocking expression, as if he was daring her to continue – About them feeling hurt to know that we are together. – she added, unable to help but laugh a little.

- Glad to see you entertained yourself at the expense of those two idiots. – Logan's smile became affectionate – I know it's still hard to be around them, but this is already a great start. And you will still see them if you brood many more times. – he promised, looking extremely satisfied with that possibility – But, first, I still need to fight your most important argument.

- Serious? – Missy questioned, perplexed. She herself couldn't think of any more. Of course, she was quite confused after that whole scene, but still... - What? – she wanted to know, not understanding.

- That I would waste my time being with you. - Her voice became low, as if he knew that this was a sensitive subject and, suddenly, one of her main concerns came back to hit her full force.

- So... - she swallowed audibly - Do you believe that too?

- Of course not, Missy. – Logan leaned over her, placing both hands on her shoulders and making her sink into the leather seat – I just mentioned that because I don't want you to agree with what I suggested having so many doubts in your head. So let me prove to you that I don't believe that one bit. – and, before she could even react, he had enveloped her in another maddening kiss. Was it really possible that all the kisses between them would always be this incredibly intense? Or was it just that he had an unbelievable gift and she was just a mass of maneuver very willing to be molded by his hands?

- You do not realize? he asked, breathless, when they finally broke apart. "I've been attracted to you from the first moment I saw you, Missy." he revealed, surprising her.

- Do you swear? – she couldn't help but gasp, bewildered, anxiously reviewing in her mind those almost two years she'd known him, but not being able to find any evidence that he even supported her, the more he felt attracted to her – I thought that...

- Yes, I know what you thought. – he sighed sadly, averting his eyes from hers – And I apologize for that again. I was... Very hard-headed back then. And my bad temper didn't help matters. – he gave a small smile without humor – I was in a very structured phase of my life and I didn't expect… To have that kind of feeling. – he explained, seeming to choose each word meticulously – Especially not for you. You were Megan's little sister, you were going to become part of the family and... I was afraid of a lot of other things at the time. – He gave another sigh, this time the heaviest and most melancholy of all – But none of them are of any importance to me now. You don't know how I regret acting so rudely to you ever since. - He looked at her again, caressing her face careful, almost devoted - But hopefully I can correct everything I've done. I hope that forcing those two bastards to eat the horrible words they said to you can help you heal the wounds they left behind. And... - with her face inches from hers, Missy trembled when she saw him shift his burning green eyes to her lips, seeming to want to devour her - Now that I know you want me too... I hope I can prove that you, Missy Sutton, are the hottest, most desirable woman who ever lived. And I want to prove it not to those two motherfuckers in there, but to who really matters: you.

-B-but… – Missy stammered, trying to contain the urge to throw herself at him and kiss him until the next day, after everything she had heard – W-don't you want to be with other people? I mean, not that I'm going to stop you from doing anything you want, since we're not really going to be together… It's just…' She bit her lip anxiously, suddenly at a loss for words.

-Oh, Missy… – To her surprise, he just laughed, as if she had said a joke – You don't have to worry about that. There is no one else. In fact, there never really was. – He gave a mysterious smile that made her even more confused – There won't be other women.

"You don't have to do this for me…" she started to say, but he cut her off gently.

- Believe me, it's no sacrifice. It's just the truth. – he shrugged, completely relaxed – And then? Any more arguments?

For a full minute, Missy just stared at him. Liam and Suzan really did seem to be possessed by something other than bewilderment when they saw them kissing: envy, she was pretty sure. And she knew why. She didn't know Suzan well enough to say for sure, but Logan was right that Liam hated knowing that someone he didn't like had done better than him at something or gained something of more value. When they'd seen her with Logan, even with the almost unbearable wave of agony that seeing the two of them had brought on her, Missy had been able to see their minds collapsing, steeped in contempt.

Liam clearly didn't have any respect or affection for her, so of course he was pissed that she was better off without him: Logan was vastly more attractive, insanely richer and more successful, more manly and sensual on every possible level, and certainly also more intelligent, charming and powerful. However, the main thing was that they were very different on the inside. Logan and Liam had always been complete opposites when it came to looks, but Missy had never cared about that or felt any desire to betray Liam. After all, she thought he was a good man. But it was now abundantly clear that the only kind, gentle, caring man in the midst of this whole disaster was, without a doubt, Logan Knight. And, of course, Liam hated him. A hatred that, now she could understand, came not only from the fact that he was a strict boss, but also because her ex-boyfriend envied him absurdly. And now Missy, the girl he thought was ridiculous and frigid, looked more than willing and content in the arms of the man he loathed just for being everything Liam would ever be.

However, she had been surprised to note that Liam's reaction paled in comparison to Suzan's. Missy knew that she tended to be quite vocal when it came to expressing her thoughts, especially the negative ones, but her reaction had gone way beyond that. It looked like Logan was making out with a rat, from the revulsion and indignation she had. Missy could only imagine that if her ex-boyfriend hated Logan, Suzan felt the exact opposite. In fact, Missy had even heard that she had ingratiated herself to several superiors, including clearly compromised ones like Devon, so it was a little obvious that Logan was certainly on her list. But judging by the disdain with which he regarded her, it was also pretty clear that he had snubbed her, perhaps even on more than one occasion. And certainly Suzan resented that. Seeing him with the ridiculous ex-girlfriend of the man she'd been in love with, a woman she clearly considered inferior to herself in every way, as that recording had made very clear, must be like death to Suzan's ego.

Yep, Logan couldn't have been more correct when he'd said they'd be bothered to see them together. And, more than that, she herself didn't expect to feel a little pleased to see those expressions on their faces. It was still far from lessening the pain caused by everything they had done, by everything she had heard, by all those horrible feelings that still haunted and overwhelmed her, making her feel like she was nothing... But there was still, yes, a bit of contentment in knowing that she had been able to give them back, even just a thousandth, of the humiliation she had felt. If her father had always taught her that revenge was a wasted effort, a waste of energy on people who weren't worth it. But, couldn't she enjoy, at least a little, the feeling of giving them what they deserved, even if only minimally? No one was going to get hurt, or be out of a job, or out of health... Just a little jealousy couldn't really hurt, right?

And, after all, she didn't feel like it was going to waste her time. Not with Logan beside her. Even though seeing Liam and Suzan feel bad was pleasant, she doubted that anything in the middle of that whole plan could be more pleasurable than his company... Or his kisses... Or his touches. Until a few days ago, she'd been terribly worried after Liam had made her feel like there was something wrong with her. She'd feared she'd never figure out what desire or arousal was, because she just wasn't capable. And because it was all her fault. But that man had proved her wrong. And she wanted to feel more. She wanted to find out what real lust was, instead of that weird, nasty thing Liam had tried to force on her. And there was no question that Logan could do it.

She just needed to say yes.

Suddenly, she couldn't think of any more reasons not to agree. After everything she'd been through, didn't she deserve this? A man who wanted not only to receive pleasure, but also to give? Logan seemed so truly attracted to her... And he had proved it not just with words, but with actions... Acts that made her not only realize that she wanted him back, but also fear that that opportunity would pass. What if she never felt this way about anyone else again? What if she regretted for the rest of her life saying no instead of calming that heat inside her that Logan had awakened?

After all, under what other circumstances would a man like Logan Knight want her?

Yes, she would get revenge. And she was going to enjoy every second of it.

And she was going to enjoy every inch of that man.

- No, no arguments. – Missy smiled shyly at him, taking advantage of the courage that had taken over her; after all, she suspected that maybe that feeling of trust wouldn't last long.

- So... Are you saying that you are my girlfriend now? He broke into a dazzling smile, making her heart skip a beat.

Missy blushed, until a thought hit her – Uh, Logan… How long are we going to do this?

With a smirk, he closed the distance between the two of them and Missy felt like moaning in delight when those big hands wrapped firmly around her waist again as he let his lips hover millimeters from hers.

- Until you're satisfied. – the way he kissed her after that sentence let her know that he certainly wasn't just talking about making her ex-boyfriend and his lover jealous.

And, heavens, she doubted the day would ever really come when she'd be sated, especially if he showed her what else existed beyond those devastating kisses.

She could have sworn people said revenge was a dish best served cold.

But, at that moment, she had the impression that she would eat it hot.

Too hot.
