Chapter 9: Chapter 9

I stalked up towards the Mira chic. Who the fuck does she thinks she is, striding up here like she owned the place and talked shit about my dying best friend?! I grabbed the front of her expensive looking blouse. "You better keep yourself in check because one more word. Just one more. If you dare say another shit about Irene, I will beat the shit out of you. You have my word." I threatened her lowly as I stared into her cold and cruel eyes. "I'd like to see you try. By how puny you look, you wouldn't dare." I knew that was a lie. I look nothing puny. My arms weren't muscly but they weren't bony either and my waist may look small but it's medium-ish and I have distinct abs under the shirt I was wearing, "but I wouldn't blame you for that, you probably might as well be friend-less. No one to be there and chide you on your unhealthy being since they're too pre-occupied lazing off in some hospital bed. What a bitch, no?" She asked, ticking off the things she's pointing out with mock obliviousness.

I growled at her lowly, wrong move bitch, wrong move. I raised my fist and sent it to her flawless face that is soon going to be marred. I heard a sickening crack and a cry come out of her but no, I wasn't done. "That was for scaring Benny, making him cry and hitting him," I growled at her and sent another punch flying, followed by me kneeing her abdomen. "That's for discouraging Vince in defending Irene," I seethed and my fist landed on her already-bruised-and-bloody-face one last time, "and that was for bad-mouthing, insulting, degrading my parabatai!" I yelled at her as Zac grabbed me and shoved me to the table. "That's enough!" He yelled as security came running towards us hurriedly.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I'm going to have to ask you to leave the building," he told me as he helped me up from the floor after getting shoved by Zac. "Kyie! No! It's not her fault officer! She's been pwovoked by that wady ova thewy!" Benny shouted as he came bounding up towards me and jumped into my arms. "Pwease don't hut my siste," he pleaded with the officer and like any other person, the officer's cold and guarded expression cracked a bit when Benny spoke up.

"Don't worry, little man. I won't hurt your sister. I just need to escort he out of the mall, will that be okay with you?" He asked gently although he could've just dragged me our without permission from Benny. Benny nodded but raised his finger, "Okhay, but onie if I can come too!" He conditioned and the officer nodded condescendingly. "Alright."

So they did. Escort me out, that is. Along with the other guys, following behind but without me knowing, Zac and the girl. I caught his eye and they held regret in them but I looked back with emotionless eyes. My emotions were guarded and I didn't care what he thought. He didn't even try to defend Irene, for fuck's sake. There is no way in hell am I going to apologize for beating the crap out of his bitch.

"How dare you touch me, much less hurt me?! You bitch! You will pay! Zac, look at what she did to my face!" She whined to Zac and of course pretty boy over here rushed to her side to tend to her plastic face. The guys surrounded me, "Are you alright? Are you hurt? I swear if you broke something, I'm going to beat the shit out of that asshole." Ju-ju growled and the guys nodded as Vince sent a mean glare to the couple but I stopped them, "Guys, I'm fine. I just want to go back to the hospital and see Irene," I told them with a small and weak smile. "Alright, but are you sure you're not hurt?" Ju-ju asked once more, concern about my well-being and I smiled at that. He's just too sweet, "Positive. Besides, it was worth it." I told him as I sneaked a peek at the girl's bruised face. They all nodded in agreement as Benny held my hand and we walked to the car.

"Hey guys, where are you going?" Zac yelled after us. "Far away from your bitch, that's where we're going!" Ray sassed as he closed the door of the cab and the driver pulled away. We stayed silent for a while but I couldn't keep my curiosity so I asked them the question that's been in my head the second that girl popped up.

"Who was she?" I asked them and their expressions turned dark and shadowed in sync. "She's Mira Tenisee. A childhood friend of ours," Ray told me sullenly as the guys grimaced, seeming to live back their childhood. "Was she always like that?" I asked them and they all nodded, "She has latched onto Zac and acted like an innocent girl, blaming us if something goes wrong and Zac would believe her, us in the wrong. It's always been like that. She's like a little sister Zac feels like he needs to protect which is ironic, really, since she's the one who has been terrorizing us." Ju-ju explained to me and Benny held up a finger.

I examined his finger closely and saw it was crooked on one joint, "Did she do this?" I asked him softly as I frowned, how could someone have the heart to hurt this kid. He's just too.. Sweet, pure and innocent. He nodded as his big beady eyes look up to me. "Oh you poor guy," I cooed softly as I took his finger in my hands and stroked it with my thumb and brought it up to my lips to give it a small kiss.

"There, all better. Don't worry, se's not going to hurt you ever again. Not as long as I'm there to protect you." I kissed his forehead as I held him close to me and I started humming softly while the other guys looked at us and smiled in adoration since it was obvious little Benny had all of them wrapped around his little finger.

"We're here," Ray announced and we all piled out of the cab and I paid the driver, "Keep the change," I smiled at him and he raised his hat at me, returning the smile before driving off. I turned and found Benny raising his arms, wiggling his fingers, silently asking me to pick him up. "Alright little guy, let's see Irene," I grunted as I set him on my hips and held him by his waist.

We took the elevator and met up with Irene's parents in the lounge before entering Irene's room. She's still unconscious and I could feel my face fall in disappointment. Have you ever just anticipated something so much and feel that great amount of disappointment when it never happened? That's what I'm feeling and I've gotta say, the feeling sucks.

"Iwene?" Benny asked softly as he wiggled out of my arms and landed on the floor, waddling towards Irene's bed where she lies, still deep in a coma. "Kyie, why is Iwene still sweeping? She alweady swept this moning." He asked, not being able to pronounce things right with that cute little voice. I forced a smile, trying to cover up the sadness brewing inside me. "She's just resting, Benny. Don't worry, she'll wake up soon," who was I to taint the innocence and naivety of a child? But as I said those words, it sounded like I was trying to convince myself rather than convincing Benny.

But our moment was interrupted by the loud bang that echoed through the small room. "Don't listen to her, you moronic brat. Listen to her, she doesn't even know if the girl will wake up, she's probably dead anyway. We're wasting our time on some dead corpse! So why don't we just plug the stupid machine off, it's beeping is annoying!" Mira announced loudly to all of us and made her way to the socket that is plugged with the machines that are keeping Irene breathing.

"NO!" I screeched as I dived between her and the socket. "Over my dead body, bitch." I growled out at her as I snatched her outstretched hand and she faked pout, mocking a whiny child's expression. "Awh, is the little bitch scared that she lost her bitch," I made a face but kept the tight grip I had on her. "Touch the socket and I will crack your head open." I growled at her menacingly as I advanced towards her, forcing her away from the socket. "Mind you that I always do what I claim I will so you better watch it. If you don't leave this room in approximately 5 seconds, I will somehow make you crack your head open with the edge of the table right behind your." I explained slowly and quietly in great detail, just for the extra effect. I could see her visibly gulp but she kept up the facade. "This isn't over, ugh!" She groaned loudly and stomped away, leaving us.

Zac stood there awkwardly, shuffling on his feet and rubbing the back of his neck. "She's just.. She had a tough past," he trailed off, trying to defend the bitch's action. I held up my hand to him and cleared my throat, preparing for the rant that's about to come, "First, I know for a fact that she didn't have a tough past, she was spoiled beyond the limit. Next, if she ever and I mean ever, step a foot anywhere near Irene, I will not hesitate to injure your little girlfriend horrifically that even you wouldn't recognize her. Finally, did you know that she terrorized your little brother. Oh, you remember Benny, sweet little innocent Benny. She broke his finger, Zac. HIS FINGER! You're lucky I haven't murdered the bitch. That hoe needs a huge ass lesson." Zac looked down ashamed, "Benny came onto me about that once while crying but I thought he didn't like Mira so I thought that he was faking it and-" I sent him a death glare, "Well of course he didn't like her! She broke his fucking finger! Who the fuck will like anyone after they broke their finger?!" I screamed at Zac, pointing at him dangerously close to his eyes with my pointer finger.

"You know what, go away Zac, find your bitch and just screw her, I don't care anymore. Don't you dare show your face towards me ever again." I whispered quietly, tears pricking my eyes. Without it registering in my mind, I have started falling for him and this change of events felt like life is spitting on my fate. I really thought he might be there for me. Turns out I've been played.

I walked mutely towards the chair in the corner as I heard the door click shut. "Are you okay, Ky?" Ju-ju asked me as he stood beside me. "I don't know." I mumbled and I really didn't know, in situations like this, Irene would be there and provide comfort and jokes.

Who knew that I have been so dependent on Irene all this time that I would break without her. I sighed quietly and watched as Benny curled up beside Irene and slept while hugging her with his arm.
