Chapter 3: Chapter 3
"I want a rematch," Ray's whine came unregistered in my mind. "How the hell are we supposed to have a rematch when she's in the brink of conciousness?" Zac snapped. I could feel hands on my wrist, checking my pulse and I couldn't help but feel a chuckle rising in the back of my throat. These guys are just too cute.
"Guys, I'm fine. I'm just exhausted and a bit dehydrated," I admitted, speaking out loud and gaining a few low, relieved sighs. "Here, K. Drink some," I squinted my eyes to get a glimpse on the bottle offered.
Irene stood there, looking like an angel who's offering me the cup of life. Yeah, I know, I know, it's a bit exaggerated but my throat feels like the sahara desert. I cracked a smile and whispered a thank you through my chapped lips and drank from the bottle, emptying it instantly. I licked my dry lips and smiled at the guys, "How about a swim in the ocean?"
My question was rewarded with cheers and hoots. The guys stripped on the spot and I wasn't surprised when all of them has defined abs. God help me. 'They're friends. They're ugly. Ugly af. Ugly ducklings. Ugly bloodthirsty little beasts.' I chanted in my head trying to avert my eyes from staring. Irene didn't even needed to fight to not look. Her eyes were only to ogle her bae's which were basically hot british actors.
"Hey, you coming, K?" I made the mistake to look his way to respond and me being me, an idiot, in this case, stopped and stared at his abs and V line. I muttered some incoherent reply and my face trailed up to his face to see him already smirking. 'Wow, smirking Zac is hot,' I mused in my head. "Ky, stop staring and get in the water!" Julian shouted from the water with a grin.
Surprisingly, Ju-ju (Julian) and I bonded pretty quickly and now he's like my best friend. I decided to give him the nickname since I thought, why not give him another nickname instead of Jules since it kind of give a feminine vibe and looking at him now, I just. How the hell can someone have such a feminine nickname with that kind of body?
Of course he's not as close as Irene and I, but close enough. "Yeah, yeah. I'm coming! Give me a second, would you." I shouted back at them as Ray and the brothers were already splashing and playing chase. Irene and sweet little Benny were already in the waters, sitting there and just playing with the mini waves.
I sighed, hating this part of swimming. I gotta strip and while I usually wouldn't mind because it'll just be Irene and me, there are guys in the audience seat now and I'm not exactly what you call confident. I waited until they all were too distracted with something before discarding my top and jean shorts and running towards the water, making sure until it reached just below my shoulders for good measure.
The guys were searching for me in the shore, still oblivious as ever. "Hey guys! Quit looking like idiots!" I teased them and they all snapped their attention to my direction but I was long under water, holding my breath as best as I can.
Suddenly, a heavy weight landed on me and I squealed under water, some of the salty water getting access into my mouth. When the thing was off me, I quickly swum to the surface and spurted out the water and start inhaling the much needed air. Coughing some water out while at it.
"Oh my God! Ky, are you okay?" Irene shouted in panic as I saw her frantically carrying Benny on her hip and making her way towards me, not even caring when the water reached her abdomen. She looked me over before turning around and screaming hysterically like an angry mama bird who got their baby birds murdered by hunters. "Vince! You idiotic asshole! You almost killed her! You better run, you ass-butt!" I quickly took Benny from her arms who was pressing his face to Irene's shoulder.
"You okay, little guy?" I asked him with a worried expression. He nodded and smiled, giving me a peck on my cheek. I smiled at him and set him on my hip. We watched as Irene chased around Vince. Poor guy, he's gonna have it.
I made my way towards the shore and stood there talking to Benny about random things while keeping watch on Irene. Suddenly a pair of hands covered my eyes from behind and my self-defense kicked in. I whispered at Benny to latch on tight onto me the second my hands leave him and he did just that.
I let him go as I felt him wound his hands onto my neck tightly and his feet wraps itself on to my waist as he buried his face onto my shoulder. I moved slightly sideways and let my feet instinctively move its way behind the person's feet and I bent myself forward before grabbing the back of their knees and pulled it, shifting it a bit, causing him to lose balance and fall backwards, letting go of me.
It all happened so fast and the next thing I know, I'm facing a groaning Ju-ju, laying on the floor, arching his back in pain. I gasped in shock, and crouched, a hand securing Benny once more and a hand helping Ju-ju up. "Oh my God. What were you thinking?!" I chastised him, whacking him upside the head. "Ow! Stop being so violent, woman!" He groaned loudly, rubbing the spot where I hit him.
I muttered a sheepish sorry and helped him to his feet. "Where did you learn those moves?" I chuckled, patting his back. "I took MMA classes when I was a kid. I guess it stuck to me after all this time. What, you think all girls are supposed to be damsels in distress?" I asked him sarcastically as he nodded his head at me dumbly. I groaned, "Why are guys so damn sexist these days?!" He shrugged and bumped his shoulder with mine, "It's mother nature," was his reply before running off, helping the guys get Irene off Vince.
I jogged towards them and got a glimpse at Vince's arm before I flinched away from the sight and wince, that's gonna leave a nasty bruise. What the hell was she holding? I got close to a heavily panting Irene, patting her back. "Poor dude, at least you didn't touch his face." She shrugged, "I still had some humanity in me to leave that part unscathed."
I nodded approvingly before walking back to our towels to take out the towels and sat Benny down. "Wait here little guy, I'm gonna buy some ice cream. What flavor would you like?" Benny scrunched up his face and looked like he was thinking. He hmm'ed loudly and I couldn't help but smile at how cute he was.
"Vanilla, he loves vanilla." A voice behind me said aloud. Benny's face lights up and he clapped loudly, "Yes, vanilla!" He beamed at me while jumping up and down. I turned only to face his brother. "Come on, I'm gonna walk you there. Benny, you be good, alright?" Zac quirked an eyebrow at Benny who smiled innocently.
"Don't worry, I'll watch over him," Irene jogged towards us and sat beside Benny, bringing him to sit on her lap. I smiled at her and grabbed my wallet from the duffel bag. "Alright then." I followed Zac to the linear situated stands selling all kinds of beverages and food. "Don't forget my ice cream, K!" Irene yelled after us. I raised my hand and made the ok sign.
"So.. How's life?" I laughed at his attempt in striking up a conversation. "Really?" I asked him, smirking while at it. He shrugged, smiling but still keeping his gaze forward. "Well, life's been good for your information."
"You know, you've never told me where you're from. Whether you live around here or whether you're on a vacation." He mused to himself, throwing me a curious look. "Well, you're technically still a stranger," I sassed him and he put on a mocked hurt expression, "How quickly you dismiss our love." I stared at him bewildered, did he just.. I squealed and jumped on his back.
What? Was it such a crime to be excited over successfully finding a fanboy? I think not.
"You just quoted TMI! OMG! You're a fanboy. *gasp* You must know where the rest of them are! TELL ME!!" I squealed while shaking the life out of him. "Whoa, whoa, chill Ky! I watched it once, it just popped out of nowhere and no, I'm not a fanboy and I do not know where the rest of them are so I can't exactly tell you anything."
I got off his back sullenly as we neared the ice cream stand. We ordered the flavors and toppings and waited afterwards. He bumped my shoulder in an attempt to cheer me up. "So you're a fangirl, huh?" I nodded wordlessly and just stared at the menu board.
The stand wasn't that big, just big enough to hold everything and fit one person. The man who stood inside was probably in his mid-50s and has a kind smile. "You know what, come over to my house for dinner and movies. Irene and the guys would be there. Take it as an apology for not being a fanboy." He grinned at me and I found myself contemplating on taking the offer but then..
"Don't worry my parents will be home and we'll be in the living room. There'll be pop corn and chips and ice cream." He coaxed, okay, honestly? He had me when he mentioned ice cream. "I'll be there." I beamed and he grinned back just when the old man gave us our order.
"Keep the change," Zac told the man and I looked at him like he had two heads. "But- dude- you-" I stuttered. "A simple thank you would be fine," he teased, I smiled sheepishly at him and mumbled a small thank you, licking the ice cream.
We walked back in silence, both lost in thought. I don't know what he's thinking but my thoughts were flooded by tonight's plans. Please don't make it a horror movie.
