Chapter 267: Chapter 267
Little Squirrel popped out from somewhere and landed on An Yan’s shoulder, chattering at her incessantly.
An Yan didn’t understand a word and turned to Wen Ya, asking, "What’s wrong with your Ninth Master?"
"I’m not sure. Lu Feng and Lin Ling left with him."
An Yan’s heart sank. Had Li Tianyao’s illness flared up? Was it the poison that caused his headache, which then led to his...his condition worsening?
"Let’s go home. Quickly!" An Yan exclaimed.
Watching her hurry off, Mo Shiyan gave a self-deprecating laugh.
The person in her heart was Li Tianyao, and Li Tianyao had indeed treated her like a precious treasure. That’s good.
"Ayan, you’ve been on watch all day. Go back and rest. Tonight, Second Uncle will take over," someone said.
Mo Shiyan slowly turned his head. "Alright. Then I’ll leave it to Second Uncle."
His willingness to stay spared Mo Shiyan some trouble. Once Grandfather woke up and his condition stabilized, it would be time to settle all accounts!
Mo Shiyan turned and went upstairs to his private lounge.
In the outer room, images of Mo Yunying and her husband, as well as Mo Yunkai’s family, were displayed on a large screen via surveillance equipment.
The car sped along, An Yan completely tense.
Ever since Li Tianyao had cured her of the poison, he had never admitted to having headaches.
Although she didn’t quite believe him, she clung to a sliver of hope. Perhaps what Li Yanluo had mentioned about thousands of needles piercing the brain was just one possibility. Hopefully, the poison Gu Shifang procured was actually useless against Li Tianyao. But now, she didn’t dare harbor any more wishful thinking.
The bottle of Pain Relief Pills spun in her hands, mirroring her restless, anxious heart.
The car finally pulled into the villa estate, and Wang Yong ran over to open the door.
"Where’s your Ninth Master?" An Yan asked urgently.
"The Ninth Master hasn’t returned!"
Wen Ya quickly reached out to support her. "Miss, don’t panic. Call the Ninth Master. Maybe he has some urgent matters to attend to?"
An Yan’s fingers trembled slightly as she held her phone.
She stared at the screen as the call connected, and the moment the other party answered, she blurted out, "Li Tianyao, where are you? Are you having a headache?"
"No!" Li Tianyao’s voice sounded perfectly normal.
"If you don’t have a headache, why weren’t you waiting for me outside? Where did you go?" An Yan’s nose tingled, and a hint of an aggrieved pout crept into her voice.
"Something urgent came up suddenly. Is your surgery over? I’ll come to the hospital to pick you up!"
"No need, I’m already at the villa. Just come back directly."
"Alright. What do you want to eat? I’ll bring it back for you."
"Milk tea and flower cakes!"
After Li Tianyao hung up, he looked up at Lu Feng, who was restraining him, and said, "Go buy milk tea and flower cakes."
"But Ninth Master, you..."
"I’m fine now." The wave of pain had subsided. "I’ll go take a shower first. Lin Ling can stay here and keep watch."
Lin Ling then said, "Ninth Master, why not tell Miss? Her skills are superior to mine. The Pain Relief Pills she makes might be more effective than mine."
Li Tianyao shook his head. "If this pain could be stopped by Pain Relief Pills, Gu Shifang wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to use this poison on me. By the way, tell everyone not to inform An Yan about my headaches until the Golden Thread Worm is found."
He didn’t want to put any pressure on An Yan.
"Understood, Ninth Master. I’ll also go into the mountains later to search for the Golden Thread Worm," Lin Ling replied.
An Yan came out after washing her hands and changing her clothes. Mu Enyu and the others had also returned.
"Sister Yan, what happened to you earlier?" Mu Enyu asked. "When I came out of the operating room, you had already left. I heard you left in quite a hurry. It made me worry the whole way here; I thought something major had happened."
"Nothing’s wrong." An Yan smiled. "I was just terribly hungry and rushed back to eat!"
Mu Enyu watched her silently. It feels like Sister Yan is treating me like a child! Googlᴇ search NoveI-Fire.ɴet
"Go wash your hands. Wang Yong said the food will be ready soon," An Yan urged.
「In the dining room.」
Mu Enyu tilted her head, looking at An Yan. "Actually, Sister Yan, you rushed back because you were missing Brother-in-law, right?"
An Yan’s face flushed slightly. "What’s there to miss about him? I’m just hungry. Aren’t you?"
"I’m hungry too, but Sister Yan, you probably didn’t know the hospital actually prepared boxed meals for us! Didn’t you see them?"
An Yan was speechless. "..."
"So you *do* miss Brother-in-law, don’t you? You came out, he wasn’t there, and you got anxious, right?" Mu Enyu’s eyes gleamed. "Sister Yan, don’t be embarrassed to admit it. I understand!"
"No!" An Yan looked away. "Hurry up and eat. After that, go rest. We have to be at the hospital at eight tomorrow morning to check on Elder Mo, and there’s the surgical review and everything."
"Oh. But Sister Yan, why aren’t you eating? Weren’t you hungry?"
"I am eating." An Yan picked up a slice of beef and chewed it slowly.
Mu Enyu took a mouthful of rice, puzzled. Sister Yan is eating so slowly today. She’s not usually .
However, Mu Enyu soon learned the reason.
Just as they finished eating and were about to return to their rooms, Li Tianyao arrived, carrying milk tea and flower cakes.
Mu Enyu had a sudden realization. No wonder Sister Yan ate so little! She was saving room for Brother-in-law to come back and feed her, haha! So sweet!
Li Tianyao opened his arms to An Yan.
An Yan’s face flushed. She glanced at Mu Enyu and Liang Chen. "You two should go rest."
"Ah, oh," Mu Enyu replied, but her feet remained rooted to the spot.
She wanted to see Sister Yan throw herself into Brother-in-law’s arms! An embrace between a beauty and a handsome man, in real life—isn’t that even better than a sugary TV drama?
Then, Liang Chen took her hand. "Let’s go."
Mu Enyu’s face turned crimson, and her mind went blank. All thoughts of watching the show vanished into thin air. Every sensory cell in her body seemed to have migrated to the hand Liang Chen was holding. She’d never noticed Liang Chen’s calloused fingertips before. They felt hard and slightly rough, brushing against the back of her hand, making it feel a little itchy, and a little hot.
Once the two had walked away, An Yan turned back to Li Tianyao.
He was perfectly calm, still standing there with his arms open!
An Yan looked down, a small smile playing on her lips. She slowly walked over and let him draw her into his embrace.
「In the dining room.」
The food on the table had been replaced with fresh dishes.
An Yan handed Li Tianyao a pair of chopsticks. Only after he began to eat did she pick up her milk tea. The fragrant, sweet beverage seemed to cast a sugary filter over her gaze as she looked at him.
"Li Tianyao, did you really leave earlier because you had something to do? Not because of a headache?"
"Yes. If I had a headache, I would have told you. After all, you’re a doctor!"
An Yan nodded, smiling. "That’s the right way to think. Have they found the Golden Thread Worm yet?"
"They’re looking, but no news so far."
"It must be with Li Yanluo!" After all, her goal is to control Li Tianyao, not for him to die from the pain. "And that incantation..." An Yan tried hard to recall it. The pronunciation was strange and obscure, but when she recited it, nothing happened. Could it be that I mispronounced a syllable?
"Don’t dwell on it. Eat some more. You’re too weak; you need to build up your strength," Li Tianyao said, placing a piece of chicken in her bowl.
An Yan looked at him curiously. "How am I weak?"
