Chapter 48: Chapter 48
Samantha's POV
I had just stepped out of my house so I could go to the office when I bumped into that hard chest and the now-familiar scent of Damien, my heart leaped at the sight of him but I quickly squashed the feelings, "what are you doing here? Please leave because I don't even want to set my eyes on you" I said feigning my rage, he simply raised a brow at me and walked past me, straight to Ariana who was standing beside me also prepared and ready to go to the office, "I told you to stop flattering yourself, I'm here for her and not you" he grabbed her hands and they both walked past me, what was going on, my heart bubbled with rage, I thought she was seeing Dylan, how come Damien was now coming to pick her, I grounded my teeth as I stared at the both of them, they both entered the car leaving me standing there, "how dare he? Just yesterday, he was busy kissing me and today he was going out with Ariana"
"You can join us if you want" he called out through the window, I rolled my eyes, "dream on" I heard his soft chuckles as he drove away.
I sat in a huff in my car and started it, but it will just on for a few seconds and then goes off, oh God! I certainly do not need this right now, I tried again and got the same result, frustrated, I bang the steering, "damn, damn, damn, now I'll have to go look for a taxi, I'm so damn late already, damn you Damien" I fumed as I hurried went to look for a taxi.
Ariana's POV
"What was that?" I asked Damien as soon as he drove off, he glanced at me as if he doesn't understand what I meant, "I know you know what I'm talking about" he chuckled, "trust me, it was nothing" I frowned if it was nothing, why had Samantha thought he had come to get her? Are they that close to each other? I glanced at him, it would have been nice if they fall in love with each other, he would love her so completely, a love so pure that will wipe away all her bitterness and anger, I shook my head, here I am being a matchmaker when my own love life is shattered.
"I hope you're not busy being a matchmaker in your head" I jumped, looking every bit as guilty as charged, how the hell did he know what I'm thinking, "can a werewolf read somebody's mind" he chuckled at my question, "I caught you right? A werewolf can't read someone's mind, I only guessed your thinking"
"I see, what then can a werewolf do?"
"You really want to know about werewolves, huh, let's see, a werewolf is very powerful, most especially in their wolf form, we can smell stuff from a million miles away, we know people by their smell"
"I see" he glanced at me with an unreadable expression, "a werewolf usually knows his mate when they turn eighteen, having a mate is the best thing that can ever happen to a werewolf, having someone whom your soul is connected with to share the rest of your life with is super great, but it is also the most painful thing if that mate is lost, you'll feel as if part of you is dead, living dead" his tone was so guarded and I could sense there's more to it, I wondered who was Dylan's mate when he had turned eighteen, had he been Rejected, "what happened to Dylan's mate, he was absolutely single when I met him"
"He was rejected by his mate, you can't begin to imagine the pain that a werewolf goes through when their mate rejects them" I was shocked by this revelation, Dylan was rejected? It was no longer a surprise that he had nothing to do with any lady, he must have been badly hurt, "so you see? He had a second chance to love, you're his mate and if you reject him now, I'm afraid of what will happen to him" my eyes rounded, "I'm his mate?" He frowned as if he was surprised that I didn't know, "you were not aware?" I shook my head, why hadn't he told me that I was his mate, I wasn't a werewolf that can sniff out a mate, he should at least had let me know, I pictured him being rejected and all alone, was anyone there to comfort him? Perhaps his parents, I realized that I still know nothing about them, "what about his parents, at least he has them to comfort him"
"His parents died the day that he was rejected" how cruel, he must have hurt a lot, my heart went out to him, "oh, Dylan, I'm so sorry for causing you more pain".
Even after Damien had dropped me off and was long gone, thoughts of what he had told me still ring in my head, I wasn't able to concentrate on my rehearsals today as the thought of him pummeled me, my tutor kept shouting and cussing on me, I had to apologize to him, I couldn't take the tension anymore, I started leaving the rehearsal ground, "get your damn ass back here" my tutor screamed obscenities at me but I paid no heed to her as I kept going towards his office. His office was empty when I got in, could he be in a meeting? I walked towards Olivia who was in charge of his schedule for the day, "please, where did Dylan go?" I tried to keep the desperation I was feeling out of my voice, she raised a brow at me, "Dylan?" Damn, that was a slip, "I meant Mr. Dylan" she clucked her tongue "he's in a meeting, why the hurry to see him? Is everything okay?" I nodded slowly, trying to hide my sadness as I slowly walked back to continue with my rehearsals.
I met Ms. Bennie, My Manager, and my tutor with a cigarette in her mouth, I was shocked to see her smoking during work hours, does Dylan know that she smokes? Either way, I was relieved that she was still here when I came back, she turned when she heard my footsteps and quickly squashed her cigarette, hiding it out of sight, "I don't usually do this you know, I was just too angry when you left and decided to calm down with just a drag from it" she was trying to convince me that she doesn't usually smoke but for some reason, I don't buy that but I let it pass, "something urgent came up, that was why I ran out" she eyed me, perhaps, wondering what could be so urgent that I had to run out the way I did, "you won't tell the boss about what you had just seen right?" I shrugged and opened my mouth to promise her not to tell but instead, I gasped in surprise, "what won't she tell the boss?" Dylan's voice boomed.
