Chapter 83: Chapter 83

"What do you mean by "Really"?!" Henry’s smart eyes narrowed at Eren, his face a solid mask of composure but the demon in front of him was perfectly able to hear his erratic heartbeats as he carefully contemplated the meaning behind the word.

"I think I need to explain everything from the start" Eren sighed before looking the human in the eye, "When I was left behind by your hypocrite ass to deal with the sea monsters alone" Henry rolled his eyes at the shadows’ lord who chuckled at his successful attempt at teasing him, grateful for he knew that the Lord only wanted to lift the heavy atmosphere.

"Okay! Okay! Seriously now, When I 'WILLINGLY' stayed behind, I’ve met someone, Ayartma, her name was, she was a banned second-generation Goddess, I was able to absorb her energy and blood, which came with her memories, and No, trust me, you don't want to know How, and Yes, that is why I look the way I do now." Eren answered the questions Henry had in mind, hoping he will not insist on knowing what happened between him and that woman, it was something he planned to never mention to a living soul in hopes of forgetting it after some time.

"So, the invisible thing that was attacking you inside the castle, His name was Nov, a second-generation God, there were twenty generation Gods, They were pretty much nothing but vessels to what remains of the creation energy that the first generation Gods couldn't contain, Before you and the army barged into the castle, he had killed all the second generation Gods, I'm presuming he did it to take their own energy although I wonder how did he plan to sustain it, The shrine is where the creation energy accumulates, the nest of light if you wanted to call it that, when a God dies, his energy returns to the nest, to be stabilized and purified in order to be used again, and that is what Nov was waiting for, luckily, you interrupted that process by barging in, after that I fought him while the army broke the shrine"

"What happened to him after, did he escape?!" Henry asked, not liking where the story was heading.

"More like slipped right out of my clutches, I had him fixed to the ground but in a split of a second, when I was blinded by the release of the energy, he was gone..." Eren's fists tightened, still not understanding how did that bastard run away, it felt as if he just became thin air and disappeared, and the shadow lord didn't want to assume he was dead and regret it later...

"What about the first-generation Gods" Henry asked, worry evident on his face, wondering if what they had could be considered a victory at all.

"Well, I have no idea, all I know is that they were not in the center when I arrived.” Eren sighed out tiredly, knowing how complicated the whole thing was, however, he didn’t have more time to waste on further explanation as he was sure that Henry was smart enough to cover the loopholes by himself, which meant he was free to go, and with that though, he began to remove his clothes.

"Could this even be called victory?! We lost so many good soldiers, for literally NOTHING!" Henry slammed his fist on the wooden railing angrily, looking as if someone just kicked him in the stomach and then got away with it.

"Yes, it does" Eren answered calmly, "Maybe we still didn't win the war but we are certainly victorious, look around you and you will see it.” Eren pointed at the crew, humans, and demons working together, tending for each other’s wounds, and offering to help, Henry understood what the shadows’ lord meant, their alliance itself was a victory, and it was, but was it enough? Turning his eyes back to the man who was almost naked, Henry listened carefully to the rest of Eren’s words.

“Nearly the half of the creation energy was spilled and cannot be restored, it will travel the world and stop the advance of the dark energy which is swallowing our world, the curse on the demons was also partially lifted, we can walk in daylight now, which means we don’t have to hide in the edges anymore, we don’t have to use dark magic anymore, and therefore we won’t be needing to kill you to feed anymore, we still need your blood to survive, but not to the point of killing a human, your people are no longer endangered by ours, now we can live together, in harmony, as for the rest of the Gods, then we will get them the moment they show themselves, for we are the strongest together, and let us not forget about the greatest victory of all, you got yourself one of the best women in the world, a queen, who is waking up now, so I suggest you go to her, really, what else can your greedy self ask for?” Eren asked, the smirk replacing the serene expression he had a second ago as he removed the last piece of clothing he had on his body, making Henry gag in disgust.

“Not fucking again!” hearing the light chuckle followed by the cracking of bones, Henry looked at Eren to see that he had taken his monstrous form again, ready to fly away.

“I am guessing you are going to get your girl as well!” Henry took the shadows’ lord silent as a yes, hoping that things would work with both of them as they both fucked things up with their ladies, however, there was still something Henry didn’t fully understand.

"One last question" Eren turned to the human king wondering what his question was.

"You are a hybrid, right?!" Eren nodded "Half-human, half-demon, now that you acquired the blood and energy of a Goddess, what does that make you?!"

"I have no idea" sighed Eren before turning to leave.

"No Goodbye hug?!" Henry smirked at Eren who growled at him before flying away, Henry stared at the flying monster until he disappeared before heading back to his room.

Rima felt herself being pulled out of a deep pit, her throat felt dry and her eyelids heavy, nevertheless, there was an urgency inside her, demanding her to wake up, but waking up felt like a tiring journey, one which she was exhausted to take.

She didn’t know where she was exactly, but it felt as if she was trapped in the pit of past, a past she kept on ignoring while it kept on growing, until the day her foot slipped of the edge, or more accurately, she was pushed off the edge, and the pit swallowed her whole.

The pit however felt somehow safe, numb, unlike her conscious state, and therefore she tried to resist, to stay in her safety but the pull was too strong to be ignored, no matter how hard she tried to resist it, for it was painful back there, where the pull was trying to take her, too painful, and the mere thought of it filled her heart with sorrow and eyes with tears which escaped her closed eyelids only to be wiped with gentle touches.

"My love..."
