“Are you, by any chance, suggesting that we ally ourselves with the humans?” Even though the fire lord’s words sounded respectful, as his tone carried nothing but his usual curiosity and slyness, Rima didn’t miss the dark emotion in his eyes, a hidden anger and animosity for even daring to mention such a thing!

The room went silent, and Rima felt all eyes on her, a reaction she predicted and wasn’t bothered with in the slightest, it wasn’t the first time for her to be faced with such disapproving and angry glares, and in a twisted kind of way, being disapproved and angry at was always a sign that she was doing something right.

Just like when she, a woman, took the position of a lord, or lady, for the first time in the history of the demonic world.

It was the way she lived her life so far, breaking all the laws and stepping over all the boundaries, to her, borders were only there to be breached, and in any other occasion, she would have enjoyed proving the men in this room wrong, however, this wasn’t just about her and her female ego, this was the whole demonic and human world on stake, and she needed these people to agree with something so crazy and so risky, something she wouldn’t have agreed to herself if it wasn’t for that one rainy night!

Taking a discreet breath, she looked at the fire lord straight in the eye, her eyes not wavering when his slightly revealed the hidden anger and disgust he was hiding under his nonchalant behavior and sly smile. And even though she had reached a conclusion before, it was now reconfirmed.

She didn’t trust any of the lords nor did she like them, but the fire weasel was definitely her least favorite!

“I am not suggesting anything! Lord Micka, I am simply sharing the information I have acquired with you so we can all come up with a solution! For this concerns not just me but all of us, all of the demonic empires as well as the human kingdoms, we are all going to die unless we find a way to avoid the fight with the humans, and fast, before the Gods are able to balance the energy again, because once they do, I assure you, the dead lands would have the least deaths!

“Balance the energy?” Eren asked, the frown on his face showed how surprised he was with all the things he was hearing, and deep inside, anxiety started to build up, fed by the realization that he didn’t know what he had to do facing this new information!

“Yes, I don’t exactly understand the dynamics of how they  and control the creation energy, but I know that with one of them gone, Historia that is, it wasn’t as easy as before and it is the reason why it is taking them too much time, it is not impossible though, and they are working on it while we speak! We don’t have any time to waste!” That was the main problem, time, if they didn’t move fast enough, then the Gods would have the upper hand and then, the demons won’t be able to leave their lands, not even during the night, not even to hunt, and before the dark clouds kill them, starvation would!

“How do you know so much, Lady Rima!”

“All I can say, Lord Eren, is that I have a secret informer from the human lands, someone so close to those who are close to the Gods! I can’t say who it is just yet, but I can assure you that my information is certain, not that you need my assurance for I believe you know something about it too!”

Indeed, Eren knew things, for he had seen it in Sara’s dream, and the things the ice queen said were adding up perfectly to what he saw in that dream, it all clicked and matched leaving no room for doubts, however, it was still hard to accept for it left them with no solutions, unless…

“Isn’t there a way to avoid the war with the humans?” One of the fire demons asked, all while lord Micka laid back in his seat with a deep frown, the gears in his head obviously working, trying to find a way to turn the whole thing into his favor.

“We can’t just lead our armies into their lands and expect them to do nothing about it, they will think we came to kill them, they already think that, and I don’t think they would believe us if we said we are only passages!”  indeed, the demons were the humans’ predators, and just like it was impossible for sheep to not panic when seeing a pack of wolves approaching them, a human couldn’t just allow a demon to walk into his land without being scared, without fighting it off!

“Can’t we go unnoticed?”

“No, there are no such ways!” being a hybrid, Eren knew more about the human lands, he knew how well the humans have kept their borders guarded, especially lately with the attacks increased, it was impossible to go unnoticed, not with the huge number of demons they are taking!

“We better start thinking of a way to convince the humans then!” everyone scoffed at the suggestion for how ridiculous it was, the humans hated the demons more then anything, they had betrayed them before and would do it again!

Convince them? As if the humans can be trusted in the first place!

“And how exactly are we going to do that?”

“I think I can at least bring the matter to them.” Rima was almost able to hear the sound of neck cracking due to the abrupt way all heads turned to look at her, eyes wide, but she needed to provide them with at least that so they can stop bickering around and focus on what really matters.

“My lady!” Eren looked at her, with all the seriousness in the world, for even though he hated the idea of meddling with the humans, it was their only chance, and the ice queen was proclaiming that she can provide them with that chance.

“You do realize that such a decision, of not fighting us, can only be taken by someone with so much power and influence in the human world!”

“I do, Lord Eren, and that is exactly what I am going to do! Rest assured and leave me to deal with the humans, I will make sure we have a safe passage in all the human lands! And to be honest with all of you, I have taking few steps in dealing with the humans, I am expecting promising results, alas, I trust you to have the divine blood, for it is the key element to our plan!”

“Tonight!”

“Very well then, does anyone else disapproves!” all eyes turned to the fire lord, and the man, with his own plan in head, nodded in approval.

“Great, we better not waste anymore time, for we don’t have much!”

Everyone else in the room nodded at the ice queen, and then started discussing numbers and strategies, once the three lords reached an agreement, the meeting was finally over.
