Chapter 166: Chapter 166
Time passed by and Jhonia was silent. Kyhe asked her not a single word, he held back from asking her anything at all. Nearce on the other hand called countless times. Kyhe sat with her on the couch with her. He could not just sit there and do nothing but it was all he had to do for her sake.
He can not leave her by herself not now, not after her words, and he knows her mother is not with the living, but after he had witnessed her completely run after a stranger, someone who just so happened to have a look alike. He felt it was intentional but he could not say it, not to her. He would only break her more, and lead her to want answers of questions she’s not ready to ask.
“She should have been alive at least.” She finally spoke and Kyhe looked at her in that instant. He has been watching Nearce calls after silenting her phone. He took her hand and put them into his.
“It was a lot for me to take in, she was, she should have. Kyhe, if not for the watch. The watch they gave me i would been with my dad.” She adds in tears telling him her mother should have been alive at least and that if not for the watch they gave her she would be dead along with her father. Kyhe tears came forth after hearing her say that.
“You can talk about it if you want. I will listen.” Kyhe said to her, telling her he is there to listen to her if she wants to talk about it..
“But where do I begin?” She asked, as her tears rolled down her cheeks silently she cried. Kyhe turned off his phone after telling his mother where he was. He sat down with his phone next to Jhonia's phone.
”Why don’t you change into some comfortable clothes? I will cook you something to eat.” Kyhe asked her to change into something more comfortable as he wiped her tears from her cheeks. She stayed seated for some time, then she got up when he told her he would cook up something for her to eat. She went to change and return but she didn’t seem to want to talk anymore.
“What are you doing?” Kyhe asked her, after she entered the kitchen area and removed fruits from the refrigerator.
“It would be in my best interest to not talk about it, not right now. I might not be able to come to work. Also, you haven’t answered my questions about what you said when you got here.” She said to him, her reason for not wanting to talk about it. She then reminds him that he did not answer her on the question towards what he said when he came. He couldn’t believe she changed yet so quickly, it was as if nothing happened.
“Ah. Jhonia, Nearce”
“I don’t eat shrimp.” She cut him off, telling him he’s cooking up something she doesn’t eat.
“If you don’t eat it, Jhonia, why is it in your fridge?” He looked at her angrily like maybe she is allergic to it or something, he was about to remove it from the fire when she spoke.
“I bought it for you, so don’t waste it.” She said to him, he was stunned by her words it was bought for him. It was one of his favourite kinds of meat but then she told him not to waste it. He blinked a few times looking at her, with a questioning face ‘who are you?’.
“Jhonia, how did you know that I love shrimps?” He called her name as she was walking away, she stopped and turned around facing him as he asked his question.
“When you asked me for lunch with Kuwain and Dae, when you had meetings with clients, each time you ordered it like it was dessert to you. I paid close attention to you even before because even though you were not my husband... Sleeping around was something both of your ‘thing’ , like how I was protecting his public image, I was doing it for you as well.” She reminded him the first time they ate together, and many times after that with clients. She explains she paid attention and why, it was because he and Nearce had something in common and she became someone who would protect them. For the sake of their company image in other words.
“You did all that for what’s best for my company, I watched you do it over and over. Jhonia, can you be truthful and tell me why?” Kyhe turned the flame down as he said, he walked over to her and asked her. Jhonia sighs and looks at him for a moment before she walks away and into the hall where she sat on the couch.
“Because, I was paid to keep his image but then she asked me to stop and take care of myself but I got so used to it I didn't realize that i was doing it for you as well! I stopped your sleep wits from coming to the office, every single one of them. I told it was for your best interest if they stop doing it at your office. I told them the cost it would have on the company and how it would affect you. I know it was not my place at the time but I tend to find myself doing things I'm not supposed to, I’m sorry if I have caused your sleep wits to act out.” She said not looking up at him, Kyhe flinched when he heard her say she was paid to watch over a grown man. His arms crossed but he let them loose in anger while looking at her, guilt hit him hard to know he was among her protectors. Jhonia explained how she stopped his mistress from coming to the office, he was surprised but then it made sense to him.
“Ah, do you still see me as who I was previously?’ She looked up at him and made eye contact after hearing him ask her that question. She pokes her mouth full of grapes and looks away from him.
“Jhonia, you do, don’t you?” Kye added asking her and she glared at him from the side and looked away. She eats the grapes and looks back at him.
“It’s going to burn.” She said to him, reminding him he has something on fire. Kyhe stood still not moving, he was just looking at her.
“Let it burn.” He responded to her, he stood with surety she would let it slide. He will not move until she replies to his question.
“Kyhe Knight, if you make that thing smoke up and turn on the sprinklers. You will not believe what I will do to you.” She called out his full name and said to him, she added he would never believe she would do something like what she will do to him.
The tone she used made Kyhe flinch, he looked in the kitchen and back at her. The look in her eyes told he would better not test her, Jhonia raised an eyebrow at him. He sighed and went to the kitchen area.
“Jhonia, I don't like how you are treating me. First, Nearce posted that you two are getting back together and working toward bettering both your relationship. Next thing I know you were going back to him, he even posted how your weekend with him will go. Are you giving me a chance or are you torturing me?” He called her as he turned off the flame, and said to her. He finally told her what Nearce put on the media and how romantic their weekend is going to be. He turned around and asked her, Jhonia was standing right before him.
“What did you just say?” She asked him, but he was still in shock at how she appeared there and he didn’t realize it.
“You can’t creep up on people, Jhonia.” Kyhe said to her, calling out her name.
“You are my people, I get to do whatever I want to you.” She said to him, claiming him. Kyhe's eyes widened with surprise after hearing her words.
“Am your people?” Kyhe asked her, and she just smiled at him.
“Are you not mine to own? Did you change your mind? Ah, should I call your mother about this?” She asked him if he’s not hers, Kyhe wasn’t sure how to answer her but he was hit with another question head followed up by a question that has his mother in it. Jhonia is perfectly right in his mothers eyes, he must not do her wrong.
“Back in my office you said you thought I changed my mind about marrying you. Did you really mean what you said?” Kyhe breathed in and out softly looking at her, he reminded her of what she told his mother about him making her think he changed his mind about marrying her then asked her if she meant it. Jhonia smiled at him with blooming eyes, it was the same kind of look in her eyes she had when they stayed together on her mother's birthday....
