Chapter 145: Chapter 145
But she didn’t expect the person coming in to be Elias Lancaster.
She was taken aback for a moment, why would he knock before entering his own room?
Was he trying to avoid suspicion?
Elias Lancaster opened the door and walked into the room.
"Serena, are you ready?"
Serena Keaton had just woken up from a deep sleep. Seeing the man in front of her, and thinking about last night’s events, she quickly got up, "You’re awake?"
"Yes, if you’re ready, let’s go."
He didn’t even glance at her before turning to leave.
Serena felt completely frozen, standing there motionless with red-rimmed eyes.
She didn’t expect him to be in such a hurry, especially after last night...
Elias walked a few steps and noticed no one was following. He turned back to look at her, "What’s wrong?"
Nanny Livingston came up.
"Young Master, Young Madam, breakfast is ready."
Elias said, "Let’s have breakfast first, we’ll handle everything after."
He turned and went downstairs.
Serena was still standing there, not moving.
She really couldn’t understand why this was happening.
After a while, she took slow, heavy steps to wash up, change her clothes, and headed groggily toward the dining room downstairs.
Sitting across from the man, she lowered her head and ate breakfast, finding it tasteless.
After two bites, she put down her fork.
Elias didn’t look at her, his face expressionless.
Serena gathered her courage; if she had to die, she wanted to die understanding why.
His voice was still gentle, but he didn’t look at her.
Serena’s heart ached with anxiety.
"I thought about it yesterday, can we not divorce? I promise I won’t act out anymore, let’s live our lives well, okay? The babies are still young, they can’t be without their father."
Elias looked up at her but remained silent. His dark eyes didn’t reveal what he was thinking.
Serena looked at him. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⁂𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱
Seeing his silence, she continued.
"I will mature in the future, I won’t cause trouble with you. I will take good care of this family."
That’s all she could express right now.
She had so much more to say, but now that it came to it, she didn’t know how to say it.
Elias still said nothing.
Right now, did he deserve her?
He avoided her gaze, trying to convince himself not to care about what happened that night.
But he simply couldn’t.
In a solemn tone, he said, "Serena, I think I should give you back your freedom."
He betrayed her, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
Serena saw his resolute attitude, heard his words, and tears instantly began to fall.
"Is there another woman? Do you not love me anymore?"
Elias lowered his head, "It’s my fault, knowing you were still young and needed to attend school, yet allowing you to become pregnant, insisting you keep the baby.
The enemies came to us, endangering both you and the child. It’s me who doesn’t deserve you."
By the end of his words, his voice had turned hoarse.
He was trying to control his emotions but still didn’t look at her.
Serena was completely dumbfounded.
She didn’t know what to do.
He had already made his decision.
Her tears kept falling.
Elias glanced at her, saw her tears, and felt a pang in his heart.
He got up, walked to her side, and gently wiped her tears with a tissue, "I’m sorry, after the divorce, I’ll make sure someone looks after you and the two kids."
Serena pushed his hand away, "Was I too unreasonable when I lost my memory, saying I wanted to separate from you? I apologize to you.
I don’t want to divorce you, I want to live well with you and our babies. Elias, do you really not want me anymore?"
Serena was panicking internally.
For him, she could let go of her pride and plead with him.
Why was he so determined?
Elias hated seeing her cry.
He pulled her into his arms, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry."
Serena cried and spoke, "It’s my fault, will you forgive me? I’ll definitely fulfill my role as Mrs. Lancaster well in the future, please don’t leave me, okay?
Boohoo... Elias, let’s not divorce, let’s live our lives well in the future, okay?"
He also asked himself in his heart.
Can he forget what he did that night?
Can he spend the rest of his life loving her, and making it up to her properly?
Divorcing her, pushing her away, only he knew how much it would hurt his heart.
But at this moment, he didn’t want to, he didn’t want to think about anything.
He tightened his embrace, holding her closely, "Okay."
Serena looked up at him in surprise, "You agreed? You’re not angry with me anymore?"
Elias met her gaze, lifted his hand, gently wiped away her tears, his heart aching with guilt, "I’m not angry, I just wanted Serena to re-choose the right to freedom and happiness."
"I just want to live well with you."
She hugged his waist, her face buried in his abdomen.
Elias held her, feeling a lump in his throat.
All of this happened because he made a mistake, which made his beloved so sad.
He wished he could forget that night.
"Baby, let’s change rooms..."
"Okay, it’s all up to you."
Before Elias could finish his sentence, Serena interrupted him.
Soon, Nanny Livingston came up with someone and organized the bedroom on the third floor.
Nathan Sawyer was worried that Serena and Elias didn’t talk it out well.
He was also worried that Elias might actually take her to get divorced.
So he insisted on coming to Norris Gardens early in the morning with Brandon Grayson.
Brandon had no choice but to take her to Norris Gardens to take a look.
As soon as they entered the villa, they saw the couple embracing, and Nathan Sawyer breathed a sigh of relief.
He chuckled, "Serena darling..."
Hearing Nathan Sawyer’s voice, Serena quickly released the man beside her.
Elias also looked over at Nathan Sawyer and Brandon Grayson walking over, "Have you had breakfast?"
"Yes, my wife was worried and insisted on stopping by to see what happened. As soon as we walked in, we saw you two hugging, so it looks like you’re not getting divorced, right?"
"Yes, nothing’s wrong now."
Elias replied in a calm voice.
Nathan Sawyer pulled Serena to sit down, looking at the tearful state she was in, "It’s all good, Master Lancaster, if you dare bully my Serena darling again, I’ll take her away, and you’ll never find her."
Nathan Sawyer continued, "Serena darling, let’s go shopping at the mall, I want to buy clothes for my Rory."
Elias spoke, "Then take good care of her for me, I have to go to the office to handle some things."
As soon as he finished speaking, Elias took out a black card and handed it to Nathan Sawyer.
"Today’s expenses are on me."
Nathan Sawyer accepted the card with a smile. "Of course it should be on you."
Elias looked over at Serena, "Have fun shopping, and call me if you need anything, okay?"
Elias went to the office, and Brandon Grayson drove Serena and Nathan Sawyer to the mall.
The largest, most well-known malls in Aethelgard were all under Elias Lancaster’s name.
As soon as they got out of the car, Nathan Sawyer led Serena into the mall.
Serena rarely went shopping.
When the seasons changed, new clothing collections were delivered to her, and everything the two babies needed to eat and use was all arranged by Elias.
There was no need at all to go shopping.
Nathan Sawyer took her directly to the floor dedicated to infants and toddlers.
This entire floor sold things for infants.
"Serena darling, would you consider having a daughter?"
