Chapter 143: Chapter 143
Sitting at the dining table, waiting to eat with him.
Elias Lancaster washed his hands, walked into the dining room, and sat across from Serena Keaton.
He still didn’t look at her, just ate his meal elegantly with his head down.
It took Serena Keaton a while to realize that he always sat next to her, "Elias, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing, you’ve lost weight, eat more."
Elias served her some food.
Serena Keaton took a couple of bites, then said, "Elias, we..."
Elias interrupted her, calling her by her full name.
Serena Keaton’s heart skipped a beat; he hadn’t called her that way in a long time.
She looked up at him, stunned.
"Let’s get a divorce! The kids will stay with you."
He knew how important the two kids were to her; he was willing to give them up.
He felt like a beast, having her risk everything in her prime to bear his children.
Back then, she didn’t want to, did she?
Now she had found her family, and the J Keaton Family would treat her well.
He was unfaithful and no longer had the right to stand by her side.
He couldn’t act as if nothing had happened and continue showing deep affection for her.
"You... what did you say?"
Serena Keaton’s mind buzzed.
For a moment, Serena Keaton didn’t know what to do.
Elias looked at her, "It was my fault back then, I shouldn’t have been careless and let you conceive, forcing you to give birth when you didn’t want to. I’m sorry."
He knew this might hurt her deeply.
But it was better than her finding out about his affair and being heartbroken later.
Not just her, he couldn’t forgive himself either.
Serena Keaton didn’t speak, just buried her head and ate, her tears welling up.
She didn’t understand why this was happening.
She had just been in the hospital for a few days for a minor surgery, how did it all change upon her return?
Everything was fine that night.
Did Elias have someone outside?
Serena Keaton’s mind was a whirl of thoughts, lining them up one by one, until she reached that conclusion.
Pain struck her chest severely, and with her head lowered, she finished the food in her bowl.
"I’m not feeling well, I’m going upstairs to rest."
Serena Keaton couldn’t bear it any longer, stood up, and quickly walked upstairs.
Elias watched her back, knowing she was in pain, but he felt just as bad.
He put down his bowl and chopsticks and instructed Nanny Livingston to clean up. Thɪs chapter is updated by 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⚫𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦⚫𝘯𝘦𝘵
Nanny Livingston came out of the kitchen, looking at the barely touched table of food, not knowing what was wrong with the young master and young madam.
The young madam had just been in the hospital for a few days, how did they both become so disinterested in food?
Elias sat in the living room, pulled out his phone to call Theodore Lynch for an update on Serena Keaton’s health.
Just as he hung up, his phone rang again.
It was his mother calling.
He answered, hearing his mother’s joyful laughter and the babble of kids on the other end.
"Elias, bring Serena home for dinner tonight."
Since having the two little grandsons, Old Madam Lancaster had been busy and happy every day.
Her daughter-in-law was incredible, having given her two little angels at once, breaking the Lancaster Family’s difficult heir problem.
Elias’s voice was low, "Mom, we’ll come back in a few days, we have some things to attend to these days."
"It’s just one meal, it won’t interfere with you enjoying your time together. No matter how busy you are, you still need to eat."
Old Madam Lancaster said.
Elias didn’t refuse again, just hummed before hanging up the phone.
He stood up and went upstairs.
Serena Keaton sat against the bed, hugging her legs, burying her head, trying to control her emotions and not cry.
Yet she couldn’t control it at all.
She remembered telling Elias once that if he ever fell in love with someone, she would leave.
That’s exactly what Elias did today, but...
Serena Keaton’s heart ached terribly.
Suddenly, a man’s deep voice came from behind.
Serena Keaton’s body tensed.
He always called her baby, wife.
Rarely did he call her Serena.
Serena Keaton concealed the sadness on her face, took a deep breath, and rose to force a smile uglier than crying.
"Is it time to handle the divorce? Let’s go."
As she said this, she stepped forward to walk past him.
Elias grabbed her arm, "No, we’ll handle it tomorrow. Change your clothes; we’re going back to the Lancaster Family."
Serena Keaton froze in place, replaying his earlier words in her mind, [We’ll handle it tomorrow.]
Will it end tomorrow?
Is it happening so soon?
Is the person outside getting impatient?
But she loved him so much, so dearly.
Why couldn’t he understand her?
Realizing she had lost her composure, Serena Keaton collected herself, "I’ll go change."
Elias released his hold and watched her walk into the dressing room.
Turning around, his gaze fell on the large bed.
In this very bed, he had an affair with another woman.
In this room, their room, he, Elias Lancaster, had committed a grievous mistake.
He couldn’t forgive himself, nor could he expect forgiveness from anyone around him.
He couldn’t force her to stay, or let her keep the children she risked everything to give birth to.
Serena Keaton changed her clothes and came out.
Elias then took her back to the Lancaster Family.
As they left Norris Gardens, Elias instructed Quentin Shaw to go to Norris Gardens and replace everything in the master bedroom.
At least until the divorce was final, he couldn’t let his beloved sleep in the bed where he had his affair.
Serena Keaton sat beside Elias, her heart aching, hurting so much, but she didn’t want to say a word.
She could sense something off about the man beside her.
She knew what kind of man he was; he wouldn’t turn into this because of a few words from her father.
Such a sudden change, after thinking it over, could only mean he had someone outside.
She instinctively looked up at him.
On his handsome face, there was no expression, but she could sense his unhappiness.
Serena Keaton pondered if during her amnesia, she was too unreasonable, making him think she truly didn’t want to be with him, prompting him to find someone else.
Considering this possibility, Serena Keaton spoke, "Elias..."
Elias’s response was as gentle as always.
Serena Keaton stared directly at him.
"Have you made up your mind about divorcing me?"
Elias turned his head to look out the car window.
"Yes, you’re still young, you shouldn’t be tied down by marriage."
She looked at him, biting her lip.
"She must be wonderful, worthy of you."
Elias was lost in thought and didn’t hear her clearly.
