Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Rylie's POV
"Oh my God! Do you mean it Blake?" I asked, my eyes widened in shock.
"Of course and I have the evidence right here," he passed a few pictures to me and just like that, my suspicions were confirmed.
"Jessie!" I spat angrily. "I always suspected she was up to no good but this, it's just crazy. She's crazy and I'm going to make her pay!" I hit on my balled fist on the table.
"Okay, so I'm officially scared now."
I rolled my eyes at him. "Don't be scared. If anyone should be scared, it's Jessie."
"I hear ya. So what's our plan? Hand her over to the police?"
"The police? Don't you think that's a little, I don't know, drastic?"
"I hardly think so. She almost killed you, Rylie."
"I know and I hate her as much as the next person but I'm not sure I want to permanently ruin her life like that. My one goal is getting her away from Mason and I think I know how."
"Cool. Lay it on me."
"Okay. So…"
I intimated him on what I had in mind.
"Sounds like a good idea. I would have preferred something a lot more painful but your plan works," he shrugged once I was done talking.
"I know. I would like nothing more than to pay that bitch back in kind but all I want is for her to be out of our lives for good."
"I want that too and your plan is okay. It's going to work out," he placed his hand on mine and squeezed.
"Thanks... Now, let's get the plan into motion."
The plan was pretty simple. Blake would meet Jessie and tell her that he was over me and wanted to hook up. Knowing Jessie, she wouldn't hesitate to accept and when she arrives at the location Blake tells her to come to, we present her with the pictures and threaten her with them so she can stay away from Mason. Easy peasy.
By now, phase one of our plan had already been put into action and Jessie was already on her way to the Janitor's closet where Blake asked to meet up. I was hiding in a corner biding my time till she arrived while Blake was pacing the floor while he waited for her.
Just then, the door opened and she stepped in. Without wasting time, she walked over to Blake and kissed him. It took all my willpower not to march out there and tear her away from Blake before throwing her across the room.
Thankfully, Blake was quick to push her away from him almost immediately. I took a moment to collect myself before stepping out of my hiding spot boldly.
"Blake, why did you-" she paused as she suddenly noticed me. "What are you doing here? Wait, is this like a threesome arrangement because if it is..."
"No! Gross! Of course not!" I yelled immediately, cringing inwardly. "Actually, I'm here to tell you it's over. Between you and Mason."
"Well duh! Now that Blake and I are together, I have no reason to keep hanging out with that nerd," she waved me off. I merely chuckled.
"You don't get it, do you? There is no way in hell that I would leave my girlfriend for a psychopath like you. The only reason you're here is because we're on to you. We know that it was you who did all those things to Rylie. You almost killed her!" Blake spat.
To my surprise, she didn't even deny it. She just shrugged and said, "Yeah. And so? It's not like you have any proof."
"Oh really?" Blake and I exchanged knowing smiles. "On the contrary, Jessica. We have enough proof and if you know what's good for you, you'll break up with Mason and stay away from all of us."
"Oh yeah and what if I don't?" she shot back even though it was clear she was scared.
"Well we'll have no choice other than to show our proof to the authorities. I hear jail's really cosy this time of year."
"You're bluffing!" she retorted, her voice quivering just a little bit.
"You sure about that? How about you try me?" I dared with a devilish smile.
We stared at each other, neither of us seemingly ready to break contact until Jessie looked away with a sigh.
"Okay, okay. Fine. I'll break up with Mason," she mumbled.
"And?" I asked.
"And stay away from Blake and you and Olivia, all of you."
"That's nice to hear. And if you break your promise, we have a video of you admitting to your crimes along with some very convincing pictures," Blake said, grabbing a small video camera which we'd placed that had recorded the whole conversation.
"Wait, you didn't even have proof?" Jessie accused, her hands balled into fists.
"Of course we had proof. We just used this to nail you to the wall so if you even think of going back on our deal, we have this recording along with some very convincing pictures," I winked at her. She growled and turned to leave. "Oh and Jessie?" I called.
"What!?" she barked, turning to face me. As soon as she did, I raised my hand and hit her as hard as I could, across the face. She fell unconscious on the floor.
I turned to look at Blake who was staring at Jessie's unconscious body, his eyes wide open as they darted between Jessie and I.
"Relax Blake, she's not dead...I think?"
"You think?" Blake asked hysterically.
Just then, Jessie moaned softly so I pointed that out. "See? She's not dead. Come on. Let's get out," I grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the room.
Once we were out in the open, Blake turned to me and asked, "So what's next?"
"Next, we get everybody together."
Blake's POV
"Dude, I'm really not in the mood for lunch," Myles groaned while I pulled him into the cafe.
"It's for the team, Myles. You wouldn't want to disappoint them now, would you?"
"Okay, fine but I'm not staying long."
"Fine by me." I raised my hand up in agreement.
I led him to a table and we took two chairs and sat down.
"Wait, where is everybody else? I thought you said-" he trailed off as the bell at the door of the cafe rang just as three people walked in. Myles' eyes zeroed in on them and looked back at me with a disapproving scowl. "What the fuck is going on here, Blake?"
"Hey Myles. Hey Blake," Rylie pecked me on the cheek while Mason and Olivia who she'd brought with her sat on the two other chairs around the table. Rylie took the one next to me.
"You better have a darn good reason for bringing me here, Rylie," Mason spoke, narrowing his eyes.
"Oh really? Thought you'd be happy seeing as your one true love is seated right beside you. Isn't that what you wanted, Mason?" Myles asked derisively.
Both of them exchanged long and hard stares, fists clenched like they were about to fight. The air was tense, so tense you could cut through the tension with a knife.
Finally somebody spoke. "Can we just get this over with?" Olivia asked, her voice low like she was tired.
"That's right. Why are we here, Rylie?" Mason asked, looking away from Myles and setting his gaze on Rylie. "Also, you don't happen to have anything to do with Jessie breaking up with me today out of the blue, do you?"
Rylie chuckled nervously. "Before I answer that question, I have something to show you guys. Blake?"
I nodded and brought out copies of the pictures I got from the girl in the alley and passed it around.
"Is this what I think it is?" Myles asked, after a few minutes of silence.
"Yes. It was Jessie all along."
"No, no. That's not possible. Jessie would never..." Mason was cut off by Olivia who said, "Jessie would never what? Try to get Rylie away from Blake? Come on Mason, even you can't be that stupid. It was clear to everyone that she was into Blake. She was using you all this while."
Still Mason shook his head that he didn't believe it. "I don't buy it."
"We were thinking you might say that so we have something else for you."
Rylie reached into her jacket pocket and brought out her phone.
"Here. Come on," she passed the phone to Mason who collected it hesitantly.
Myles and Olivia moved closer and watched the video with Mason. Once the video ended, they reduced to their seats silently, obviously trying to process it.
"I can't believe it," Mason breathed, looking ahead. "You were right about her all along. She's been playing me all along."
"I'm really sorry, Mason and you were right. I had no right to do what I did and I'm really sorry for that. You too, Olivia and you as well, Myles."
Myles didn't act as though he heard her, whirling around instead to say, "We have to get this to the cops!"
"Actually, we decided not to go down that route, Myles."
"Well, why not?" Myles demanded, his eyes glowing with anger. "She sent you to the hospital, Rylie. Twice! She could have killed you!"
"But she didn't," Rylie replied, placing her hand on his. "But what if she tries it again? She has to be stopped."
"You don't have to worry about her bothering us again. Rylie and I already talked to her plus with what Rylie did to her, I doubt she'll be be coming to us anytime soon," I winked at Rylie who was smiling contentedly.
"Wait! You wouldn't be the reason why Jessie had bruises on her face, would you?"
"Really Rylie? I'm impressed!" Olivia smirked, raising her hand for a high-five which Rylie readily clapped back.
"Impressed? I was downright terrified!" I faked a scared look to which Rylie rolled her eyes. "You should be. You're just lucky I never went full-on crazy on your ass when you first came and now that I love you."
"Yes, I really am lucky, aren't I?" I smiled at her and placed a kiss on her lips. She was surprised at first but soon relaxed and leaned in even more, matching each stroke of my tongue. When I pulled away, Rylie's cheeks were tinged with pink and she was smiling shyly.
"You know, this is the first real time I'm seeing you guys kiss in public," Olivia commented, reminding both of us that we were not alone.
"Well, we're kissing now,"Rylie replied, wrapping her arm around my torso and laying her head on my chest. I placed a kiss on the top of her head affectionately.
"I'm really sorry about everything, lil sis," Myles muttered.
"If anyone's sorry, it's me. You guys, I am so so sorry for everything," Rylie apologized with a pout.
"Well, you're forgiven. And while we're in the forgiving mood, I have a confession... I sent the pictures to Blake!" Olivia blurted out.
"Wait what? How come? It was a girl but it definitely wasn't you. I'd have known if it was you," I objected.
"Well, I did a little digging of my own while I wasn't with Rylie and when I found the images, I paid someone to give them to you and told her everything to say."
"Why didn't you just give me yourself, Liv?"
"I dunno. Air of mystery, I guess," Olivia shrugged.
"Well, in any case, thanks Olivia," I shot her a grateful smile.
"Yeah, thanks Olivia. Things will definitely be better now that Jessie is out of our life for good," Myles exclaimed.
"Yeah, seems like everything is finally coming together," Mason sighed, casting a wistful look at Olivia.
I glanced at Rylie and smiled. Mason was right. Everything was finally coming together, that is, until it fell apart...
