Chapter 29: Chapter 29
Rylie's POV
I stood transfixed, my jaw hanging open as I stared at the writing on the mirror. What in the…? Who could be behind something like this? Who would do something like this? I had so many questions and no answers.
Time passed and I still stared at the writing, my mind buzzing with thoughts of who could have done it.
A sudden knock on the door of the bathroom startled me.
"Rylie, are you doing okay in there?" I heard Blake ask from outside the door.
I let out a sigh of relief, my hand still on my chest. "Yeah. I'm fine. I'll be out in a second." I grabbed a bunch of paper towels and used them to wipe the mirror before anyone else got to see it. Once I was done, I dumped the used paper towels in the bin and stepped out to meet Blake.
"What took you so long in there?" Blake asked once I was out.
"Oh, it's nothing," I said trying to dismiss it.
"Are you sure?" He eyed me suspiciously.
"Of course I'm sure. Now let's get going." I grabbed his hand and pulled him along, unable to shake the terrible feeling that someone was watching me.

"Rylie!" A finger snapped in my face.
"What?" I jerked back to reality to see a concerned Blake looking at me.
"What's up with you, Rylie? You've been acting totally weird since you went to the bathroom."
"Weird? Weird how?"
"Well for one, you were quiet the whole ride home and even up until now. You also keep zoning off. What's up and don't say nothing because I know it's something," he warned, concern etched in his features.
I glanced up at him and could see that he was being really sincere. I wondered if I should just go ahead and tell him about the writing on the mirror. But what if it just turned out to be a silly prank from someone who thought it would be fun to mess with me? Then again, what if it wasn't? It was all so confusing.
"Rylie, I'm waiting…" Blake pushed. I stared at him long and hard before eventually deciding to tell him about it.
"Okay, so after I left you and went to the bathroom, I came out to wash my hand only to find something written on the mirror. It was a warning to stay away from you," I blurted out in one breath.
"Wait really? And you're just telling me this now? Rylie-" he frowned.
"I know, I know and I'm sorry. I don't even know why I decided to keep it a secret from you in the first place."
"Baffles me too," he remarked pointedly.
"I already said I was sorry but that's the last thing on my mind right now. What I really want to know is who is behind the writing on the mirror," I sighed as I fell back in bed.
"I wish I could say but it could be anyone. I've hooked up with so many girls, it's hard to say which one of them would try to do something like this," he climbed in bed next to me.
"Great! Now I have to deal with a vengeful ex when we're not even dating. Isn't life just fun?" I commented sarcastically.
"Look Rylie, I get that you're scared but you don't have to be scared, okay? You have me and I'll make sure nothing happens to you. I've got you," he nudged my shoulder to comfort me.
"Really?"
"Really. What are frenemies for afterall?"
I smiled at him, leaned in and gave him a light peck on his nose.
"What was that for?" he asked, a smug grin plastered on his face as I backed away from him.
"I kissed your nose, Blake. Don't read too much into it." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Okay okay. Just saying. Only a matter of time before you're kissing something a little lower than the nose," he said smugly.
I groaned. "Now I regret doing it… That beside, shouldn't we get back to tutoring you in Algebra? You know, since mid terms are only a few weeks away."
"You're totally right. I can't believe I forgot all about that!" Blake palmed himself in the face.
"Well lucky for you, you have me! I'll just grab my books and we can begin."
"Sure."

"I can't believe it!" I exclaimed as I set down the notebook in my hand.
"What? What is it?" Blake nervously inquired. "Did I do good?"
"No, not good!" I answered grimly. "You did better! You actually got all the questions right this."
"Wait really?" Blake raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"Really. You might actually pass this test," I stated cooly.
"Wow! This is so cool! I never thought I'd get all the questions right." Blake went through his notebook again.
"Well you did. Good job on that by the way," I gave him a thumbs up.
"I owe it all to my wonderful tutor. Turns out being a nerd really pays off afterall."
I rolled my eyes at him. "You're never gonna stop calling me a nerd, are you?"
"Yup!" he stated with a nod. I sighed heavily and shook my head at him.
"Suit yourself, bird brain. Anyways, I'm wiped out. I think I'm gonna turn in now," I announced, heading to my bed.
"Great. I'll join you," Blake replied and before I could say anything, he was lying beside me on the bed.
"Blake, what are you doing?" I raised an eyebrow while sitting up to stare at him.
"What? You mean lying beside you on your bed?"
"Yes. That. What are you doing? I already told you that I wanted to sleep."
"So sleep," he shrugged.
"I can't do that while you're on the bed," I argued.
"Why not? This is not our first time sleeping together."
I palmed myself. "Ugh! You have no idea how that sounds, do you?"
"Rylie, quit your whining and just sleep if that's what you want. I'll keep my hands to myself, I promise," he raised his hands in surrender.
"Yeah right. You promise. And I guess I'm just supposed to believe someone with a mind as dirty as yours?" I snorted.
"Rylie, I already promised you that I would keep my hands to myself but it seems to me that I'm not the one with the dirty mind here," he said.
"What does that mean?" I frowned.
"Well you seem to be the only one who has a problem with me sleeping beside you so what if it's because you actually want me to touch you?" Blake alleged.
"Wait what?!" I exclaimed, my eyebrows raised as I stared at him. "Why would I want you to touch me? That doesn't make sense!"
"Makes more than enough sense to me."
"Why would I…? What would…? Do you even even…? Arghhh! You know what? I'm not going to sit here and listen to this. Get out now! I'm serious, Blake!" I warned menacingly.
"Aww! You're so cute when you look like you want to murder me. Makes it hard to be scared." This he said while pinching my cheeks.
"Blake! Get out!" I cried, trying to push him off the bed. As I struggled with doing this, he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him such that I ended up lying directly on him.
My legs were lying on both sides of his and my hands were on his chest. I could feel his well sculpted abs even through his shirt and I fought the urge to run my hands all over them. Now that would be the stuff of dreams.
As I laid on him transfixed, I felt Blake's hand move to the small of my back causing a shiver to run down my spine. If he noticed it, he didn't show any signs.
Being this close to Blake made it incredibly hard to breathe as all the features of his perfect face were so close to my eyes. Realising that leaning in just a few inches would cause our lips to meet didn't make things any better.
Just when I was certain if my heart beat any faster, it would explode, I heard the door open. I quickly shot up from Blake but his hands held me in place so I couldn't get off him. I gasped when I saw who was at the door…
