Chapter 46: Chapter 46

Blood.

The first thing that welcomed Lola as she ushered into the reception alongside Michael and Ariel. Her grip on her briefcase tightened as her teeth grinded against each other. The once beautiful reception were now a dull splash of red across it's wall and to the marble floors. Scores of security men and innocent workers had their body scattered abroad the floors. In miserable ways.

As her eyes streamed to the counter, there she found her lover. The Trainer. Grinning like a crazy being who had an undying lust for blood. He pulled out his knife from the counter lady's neck, glaring at the blood like it was his meal. She gasped while she covered her mouth. Her eyes exclaiming in horror and her entirety shivering like cold was storming her body. Her heart raced like sport cars, she felt a squeezing pain pang in her chest.

Was this really Trevor or a demon had possessed him? Did he kill these people?

Amongst other questions, this was what perturbed her mostly. She hoped this was just a nightmare. She couldn't bare the sight of her lover being a monster, let alone comprehend that fact.

"D-did you kill these people?" She stammered as warm tears began to soak her eyes.

He laughed in an overly irking manner.

"Trust me, love. It was so easy and not to worry, I'm not hurt."

The pain in her chest dosed on a terrifying level. And the tears she embattled from falling, finally toured down her cheek. It was true. Her lover was a monster.

"Your life, Your love for me, everything was fake after all." She stated in oblivion. Feeling a sign of numbness in her legs.

He jumped down from the counter desk whilst tucking his knife into it's sheath on his jacket. Holding several other weapons.

"I love you." He said but hearing those words from him again felt so hateful and deceitful.

"I never lied to you about my life. Nothing was fake."

"Then why did you betray us?!" She screamed as the tears intensified. "Why did you betray me?"

"The Government!" He raised his voice against her.

"The Government, Lola. My wife could have been saved but because of the authorities, because of that pathetic Chief-in-Power and their stupid laws. They deported every person affected by the explosion and call them mutants! They couldn't even provide adequate healthcare system for these people. They deserted us! They deserted her. And this people would do anything just to stay in power."

"So it's all about revenge." She wriggled her head slowly in disappointment.

"It's not about revenge, it's about doing what's right. Justice. Giving each continents the power to make decisions on their own rather than let one continent, one man decide for the others."

"Then why did you kill Doctor Roberts? He was a good man, he fought for what's right. Isn't that why he established The Shining?"

"He was a good man, I agree but he still danced to the tune of government. Isn't he the one who built the EMP even when he knew how dangerous it is." He challenged.

"I am not an agent of The Shining. I stand for The Revolution and the revolution is now! Utopia is falling and nobody is stopping us!"

She took a deep breath before wiping her tears. She looked down at her briefcase before clicking it open. The nanotech briefcase instantly expanded into an elastic bionic cloth suit which gradually enclosed on her body. It was a stunning Black from top to her boots which only had one other colour. A large white Queen Chess piece logo inscribed below her chest. Her hands flowed to a long curled metallic chain weapon fixed to her belt. The only weapon which came along with the suit. One Doctor Roberts had specifically gifted her.

***********

"Now into why I'm here, I have a gift for you. Lola."

Doctor Roberts said.

"Gift?" She had asked as she glimpsed between The Trainer and the Doctor.

"Oh you're gonna love it!" He pitched with a grin as he handed her a briefcase. One which had a Queen Chess piece logo inscribed on it.  She clicked it open and her eyes exclaimed at the weapon. It was a long metal chain with steel-like handle. The weapon was curled in a circle.

"What is this?" She furrowed her gaze at him.

"I'd like to call it The leash of Justice. This weapon helps you increase your electric powers dosage by ten folds." He explained.

"I joined The Shining to save lives not to take them. My powers alone can electrocute one to death. With this weapon by my side, I can't even begin to imagine what monstrosity it can do."

"You see your powers work entirely on your feelings." The Doctor toned sharply. "If you're calm, the highest you can do is light a Christmas tree. And if you're angry, well that's when your powers are dangerous. This weapon here helps you increase it's dosage whether you're calm or angry."

"I don't want it!" She closed the briefcase and handed it back to him.

"I can't take lives."

"In Chess, sacrifices have to be made before one can win. And there's nothing wrong in sacrificing a bit of your innocency, Lola." Doctor Roberts asserted.

"I don't want it and that's final."

He grinned. "One day, you'll have the cause to use it."

**************

And this was that cause, to use this deadly weapon on nobody else but her lover.

"I don't want to fight you, Lola."

"Scared of me?" She toned in a devilish manner before unravelling the chain. Even though she hadn't used it before, it felt like she had mastered it.

"No." He grinned. "If you fight me, it will only cause your death. I trained you all remember, I know your strengths and weaknesses."

"You don't know shit about us!" She growled before letting her anger intertwine with her lightening powers. Letting it course through the long chain.

"Bring it on!" He huffed and without thinking, she signalled to her teammates. They immediately launched ferociously at him.

If she had thought, The Trainer was a piece of cake for all three to defeat. Then she must have been dreaming. They were only five minutes into their fight but he had already broken Ariel's arms, almost killed Michael. Who escaped with a gunshot wound in his right leg.

It was only her left against The Trainer.

"Last chance, sweetie." He bellowed.

"Don't call me that!" She ferociously retorted before weaving her chain which he easily dodged with a mocking laughter.

"You can't defeat me, love." He mocked again while she panted heavily. His words only irritated her the more. She thought of Doctor Roberts and Rita's death, Theodore and Collins who were risking their live for them, Michael who was barely conscious and Ariel who winced in pain on the ground.

She had a responsibility to these people, to every citizen of Utopia. If she failed to defeat her enemy, then she's failed The Shining and Utopia as a whole.

A new surge of anger and strength bloomed within her. She dropped her weapon while The Trainer frowned.

"You do know your powers are nothing without this worthless chains right?" He queried in a mocking manner but she maintained her stone cold face. Her eyes gradually sealed and she let her consciousness sink into the depths of her powers.

"Be the electricity." She told herself and gradually her whole body glowed with a shining shade of orange. It was like filling a balloon with air till the very limit it can expand.

"What are you doing Lola?!" The Trainer asked in a slightly fear stricken tone but she delved further and that balloon burst. Lightening escaped dangerously throughout her body. They all projected at The Trainer. It caused a loud powerful explosion to rake throughout the room, it  thudded even her to the floor while the building quaked.

"Lola!!" Michael screams as he tapped her face repeatedly jolted her back to reality. She saw Ariel appear in her line of vision, whose face expressed a tiny smile.

"It isn't over yet. We still need to save the Chief-in-Power." Michael chorused while he gently pulled her amidst the smoked that lingered.

"Where is he?" She asked in a whisper as she leaned against Michael. Feeling a mild migraine rage in her head. She had surpassed her limits and very soon she could collapse with a fever.

"He's dead. Your burnt him beyond recognition." He calmly answered while they threaded to the Elevator. She smiled.

As The Elevator door closed, it travelled downwards which caused frowns to appear on their faces.

It pinged open revealing a tiny room, dimly lit with another door in front of them. Ariel pushed it open with her Telekinesis.

They wobbled into the large control room which displayed several radar information on the big screen. Precisely about the Nuclear power plant instability. But what terrified her was seeing Timeron forcefully holding the Chief-in-Power, Mr. Matthew Lancelot in his grasp. With a gun posed at the man's head.

"Took you guys long enough." Timeron grinned. "But you're just in time to watch me blow each continents!"

"No!" She screeched trying to muster electricity but nothing came forth. They tried to move towards him but their bodies suddenly froze. She couldn't exercise control over her body, it was like her receptors had grown numb to her muscles.

"You see, I don't know how to fight but I do know how to manipulate time. I just locked the three of you in a time field for thirty minutes." She watched in awe as Timeron reveled in his own sinister laughter.

"Now give me the Code." He barked at Mr. Matthew who trembled greatly. "Unless you want your beloved wife and daughter to die."

"Please don't harm them!" Mr. Matthew screeched.

"Then give me the fucking damned code!" Timeron barked as he pressured his gun upon Mr. Matthew's head.

"I-it's U-"

"Speak up!! Old man."

"UTOPIA!"

"Utopia? If I had known that was the Code, I would have killed you long ago." Timeron scoffed before pushing the man to the ground. He flashed a grin at them.

"Now you will watch The Revolution lead the new age of world power." He sinisterly sputtered. While he calmly pressed on the code. U, T, O, P, I, A

Anger and fear raged within Lola. They were going to watch the world crumble before their eyes, helpless. All their efforts were going to be in vain!

As Collins stood metres away from Alexa, he tried to allay his fear that nothing could possibly go wrong. But then again, so many things could go wrong!

His powers were just Teleportation and hers was Pyrokinesis. Fire manipulation. With her heat alone, it would melt every weapon he could fashion against her. He was beginning to regret why he didn't learn combat skills or why he for no reason chose to be an hero. Suddenly an idea popped in his head.

"Please give me a minute." He said to her before teleporting. He landed in his special weapons vault. Briskly scooping three gas grenades. It was the only way to put her down temporarily without him getting hurt. He teleported back to his former positioned.

"You're beautiful but evil. It just doesn't work for me." He grinned.

"You're handsome but weak. You're just too pathetic for me." She replied and it easily infuriated him. Without thoughts, he unlocked the strike lever of the grenades launching it to her direction. And just as he expected, she foolishly used fire against it.

A loud explosion blasted her to the ground, crashing her to the ground lifeless.

"I'm sorry it had to be this way." He mumbled to himself before trotting into the reception covered in smoky mess and hints of blood. He tried using his Tele-Talkie to connect with his teammates but none of them responded. He impatiently entered into the Elevator but noticed something different about it's buttons. Nevertheless, the Elevator travelled downwards causing Collins fear to further heighten. It pinged open while he stepped into the tiny room with twin doors inches away from him.

He was about to step inside until he looked through the small glass imprinted on the doors. His eyes exclaimed as he saw his teammates frozen in their stance with Timeron pressing on a code.

"Now you will watch The Revolution lead the new age of world power." He heard Timeron say.

Collins gasped, he knew there was no way to stop Timeron. The man would simply stop time and end him for good this time. But on second thought, he decided to abscond. Leave his teammates and the world to their gruesome fate. Start his life over. He started to progress guiltily towards the Elevator. Lives would be lost for his selfish decision, the world could be ruined again all because of him.

A memory of Doctor Roberts flashed in his head.

*************

"Let me tell you one interesting fact about the Pawn." The Doctor said with a gesture. "It is the most powerful piece in Chess. When it reaches the final destination in the enemy's territory, it has the ability to transform into any piece. Be it Queen, Castles, Knights." He pursed his lips.

"I'm only going to say this once, Collins."

"You're the most powerful member amongst the team and their future, lies in your hands."

************

Collins palm curled into a fist as his teeth gnashed.

Now it felt like he was betraying them if he left. Even if he wanted to save them, to save Utopia. How could he possibly stop Timeron?

***********

"During your one month training, I was thinking about your powers from another perspective." Doctor Roberts sounded while he circled about him.

"What if your powers could manifest the possibilities of time manipulation?"

"How?"

"Remember you said, whenever you teleport, you first land in a room."

"Uh huh?" He affirmed.

"Have you ever thought or stayed in that room for a long time?" The Doctor asked with his gaze solely on him.

"Yes, I did it once and trust me, it's something I'd never do again." Collins whispered before he gulped his drink.

"What happened?"

"The room doesn't allow me to stay more than five seconds but when I crossed that limit, I almost got burnt alive in my portal."

Doctor Roberts hummed as he nodded slowly.

"So in one sentence, your powers can kill you."

*************

"That's it!" Collins exclaimed but that smile soon faded. Coldness filled his heart at the thought of the one and only way, to end The Revolution once and forever.

He teleported with tears soaking his eyes. He briskly landed beside Timeron in a split second and quickly grabbed him. They both teleported but this time he remained in that small room alongside Timeron.

"Where is this place?!" Timeron blared as he aimlessly stared across the room filled with so many memories.

"Welcome to my world." He smirked and quickly held Timeron back from going back to the exit door. As they both struggled, tears he embattlef toured down his face yet again. Maybe this was his purpose. Maybe this was why he had always survived death situations. To one day save the world.

To one day become an hero. Even though it hurts.

"Goodbye world." He whispered with a smile as both of them burned into the void. Death.

################

"Collins!!" Michael screamed as their bodies unfroze back, she watched him burn alongside Timeron in his portal. Smiling at them. As if telling them everything would be okay. And soon it diminished.

"Quick, help me! We have to use this lever to stop the nuclear---" Mr. Matthew muttered but after a few seconds, his words faded to Lola.

She fell on her knees, warm tears freely flowing while Michael and Ariel ran towards Mr. Matthew trying to help.

Her heart broke at Collins selfless act. She knew there was good in him but not up to this level. The selfish, overly proud Teleporter sacrificed his life for theirs.

The Revolution is over but it came at a painful cost.

###########

"Omegaverse."

"Yes?"

"Timeron is dead. He has failed to capture Utopia."

"He was never going to capture it."

"There's more, Sir. The Teleporter is dead too."

A smile spread on his lips.

"Now this is good news. The most powerful member of The Shining is gone. I'm sure they must be happy this war is over."

"Indeed."

"Prepare the others for phase two. Tell them we have a team to destroy and a world still yet to be conquered."
