Chapter 1: Chapter 1

NEW CANADA

May, 2023

The cloud were clear and the atmosphere a serene ground until the sudden blare of sirens. Heavy Vehicles threading the watery path that led to Chef McCarthy's restaurant. One of New Canada's biggest and finest. Once the convoy came to a solemn halt, the restaurant exploded into a horde of reporters. Surrounding the executive car that beheld a dignitary. The Mayor of New Canada, Mrs. Hillary. Dangling their cameras and shoving their microphones to her presence heavily guarded by her security. Hefty and stern looking in expression as they accompanied her into the restaurant with the watchdogs shut outside.

A tiny smile arched on Collins lips as he enjoyed the scenery from the opposite roadside. His clothing were a dashing all black and so was his objective. Hooded Bomber Jacket and a fitted pair of jeans complemented with boots. He studied his environment closely as he rubbed his low cut hair. And when he was certain no being paid attention to his presence, he donned a matching cap. He concentrated on his breathing. Taking it slow and steady whilst feeling the exciting rush of power building in his stomach. As if filling helium gas into a balloon.

The veins in his ebony skin started to glow tiny balls of orange while he pictured being in one of Chef McCarthy's restroom. Once the energy exploded within him, his eyes opened to another environment. The entirety of the place he's grown accustomed too over the years. A small room with two doors. Filled with nothing but memories of every places he's been too, playing on screens.  He paced to the exit door holding visualizing images of the restroom and briskly opened it.

"Damn! This Zipper won't open!"

Collins heard a man groan. Apparently battling with his trousers in one of the luxurious men toilets. He smiled. To most people, this would sound like magic but to him, this was called Teleportation.

Without waste, he marched out of the restroom and unto the ridiculously air conditioned environment. His objective were clear. To steal the Mayor's handbag for it contained VIP access to one of New Canada's grand party. An highly anticipated meeting reserved for the elites of all six continents. As he stealthily made his way closer to Mrs. Hillary and her party members table he teleported yet again. This time to his own classified weapons vault. A small room where he had neatly arranged several assaults. Many, he had stolen over the years.

"We all know Mr. Roswell isn't a small man. He's influential and a competitor that can oust me in the coming elections." Said Mrs. Hillary. Her voice silky and authoritative. "Which is why I've decided to drop Lincoln as my Vice Mayor for my forthcoming campaign."

"Aren't you going too extreme?" One of the party members interjected. "We all know Lincoln has been your Vice for two years now. This sudden change can prove drastic!"

"I agree with the Mayor if you ask me, Lincoln's latest antics and reputation is enough to shame or should I say ruin our party's chances." Another added but then Collins landed on their table with a grenade that exploded into gas encompassing the whole area. Making their visibility almost impossible. The securities shot aimlessly amidst the coughing but he wavered not.

"In my opinion!" He declared with a chuckle minting with his words. "I think politics is shit and we should all go to our various houses, enjoy what's left of this ruined world!" He pronounced with a grand gesture.

"Mayor Hillary!" One of the guards yelled, posing his gun aimlessly amidst the gas. Collins chuckled again.

"Oh she would do just fine. I guess I'll have to take this!" He lustfully scooped her handbag off the table before teleporting outside. An atmosphere where the reporters hustles had now dosed.

He chuckled again before threading away from McCarthy's. As he continued to stroll the watery path of his silent street, he felt a presence behind him. He peered suspiciously at his back but found no one, he pressed on again, busying himself with the Mayor's small bag. He suddenly gasped, dropped the bag as he felt his insides being violated. His whole body phased and his eyes caught glimpse of a young adolescent like him that passed through his body. How the stranger had done it, he didn't know. But Collins crashed to the floor immediately, overwhelmed with shock and mild irritation.

"I'll take this!" The stranger muttered as he picked the fallen handbag.

"Wait!" He pitched as he staggered to a stance still overwhelmed by the fact that there was someone like him. A mutant.

"You are like me, you have powers!" He exclaimed while the stranger cautiously held onto the bag.

"No big deal." He answered before trotting away but Collins briskly teleported to his front. Giving him the chance to properly review this stranger. His hair were low, dark and curly. His skin was a dazzling mocha brown and eyes were honey coloured.

"You thief! That's mine." Collins growled, mentally thinking for ways to scoop the handbag back.

"You stole it and I'm stealing it from you too." The stranger smirked, clutching onto the bag tighter than before.

"How do you know I stole it?" Collins asked agitatedly.

"We both had the same aim and of course I saw the ruckus you caused at the Restaurant. Get out of my way before I phase through you again."

Collins smirked but deep inside, his heart raced like sport cars. "There's no way in hell you'd be doing that again. Now hand me the bag before I cause ruckus to you."

"I'd love to see you try."

Collins teeth gritted. He knew it was virtually impossible to retrieve that bag considering the weird power the stranger exhibited. At the same time, he was in awe there was someone like him. He thought he was the only one gifted but meeting this person changed that idealism.

"Look man, let's not make things rough between us. All I need from that bag is the Card to New Canada's grand party."

"That's what I need too." The stranger affirmed.

Collins frowned. "What do you need it for?"

"Anyone would kill to attend that party hence, I wanna sell it to the highest bidder and buy myself a truck load of candy!" The stranger chattered excitedly but Collins eyes exclaimed from puzzlement and surprise awe.

"Candy? You must be stupid!" He growled. "Give me that bag!" He tried scooping the accessory off but the stranger phased through him. Causing him to crash to the floor again.

"Fine let's make a deal!" He blared in a tiredly fashion while the stranger came to an abrupt halt, rewarding him with a quizzical look.

"What deal?"

He staggered up to his stance again.

"First, you need to stop using whatever powers you have on me. Second, I know a buyer who can pay a huge price for this card. And we'll share it equally, you get to buy your useless candy and I get my money. How about that?" He grinned sheepishly hoping this stranger would be foolish enough to fall for his sinister plans.

"Deal!" The stranger chirped excitedly after long minutes of deliberation.

"Can I have the bag now, I'll take you there." He muttered hoping yet again the stranger would foolishly accept and indeed he was. Once Collins retrieved the bag, he burst into laughter.

"You fool!" He mocked before teleporting into his raggedly decorated house. He briskly emptied the bag and grinned. Finding the VIP pass for New Canada's grand party.

"Tonight should be fun." He mumbled to himself as he clutched to the ticket. Reveling in the flawlessness of his sinister plans.
