Chapter 75: Chapter 75

Flashback.

Matthew

"Can't I go and rest for once?" I asked my parents.

Mom turned to me as if I had said something terrible. "Who will manage the company if you rest? You can rest later in the evening." she answered unbothered.

Who will manage the company if I rest? I don't even own the company. They made that company themselves, and why am I getting involved?

"Why are you guys even here if no one will manage this?" I started to ask. "Why did you even build this company if you guys are not going to take care of it?"

"Watch your word, Matthew!" Mom screamed.

I sighed. "Mom, I am still in college. I should focus more on studying, not on your business." I retorted.

"Studying? When all you do is play your mobile games and eat sweets? Where is the focus of your studying?" Mom answered back.

I can't believe this. "Yeah, I play mobile games and eat sweets. You don't know why?" I asked. "It's the only thing I can do since I am here. Aside from reading your papers, looking at the screen the whole day, that's the only thing I could do here." I added.

This is tiring me.

"I am studying and managing this company that isn't mine in the first place," I said. "All you think of is how to make money that others can't reach—"

"You are overboard! How can you say that!"

"How can I say that? What am I? Mom, I am your son! You make me overwork and do uncomfortable things," I answered. "Can I be a student first? After I graduate, I will help you manage this company of yours. Can I have my freedom back?" I asked, almost pleading.

"No. You need to help us manage this company. What should we do without you?" Mom replied without any remorse.

I shook my head disappointedly. "Mom, you take this path, and now you're telling me you can't manage this company without me? Isn't it too ironic?" I retorted. "I am out of here!" I yelled and walked out of my mother's office.

After helping others, they told me to stop supporting them. They decided to change my course to a business one without asking my opinion when I wanted to take piloting.

I find myself wandering on the streets. It's been a while since I did this. I could not walk far from the company because they always made me stay inside to watch their company better.

Sometimes, I wonder if I don't have this skill. Will they do this? Will I be able to return to my life where I should worry about my grades and games while eating my sweets?

"Right, sweets. I am craving for—"

"Watch where you are going." a man said.

"I will. Sorry." I answered back.

"Oho! We are still not done, boy." the man's friend said as he stopped me.

I am not in the mood to talk with them. "What do you want? I said my apologies already, right? So, what more?" I asked.

They laughed. "You've got a sharp tongue. You need to learn." He said and punched me right away.

Damn. I didn't see that. Some of them tried to approach me when a bag flew in the man's face.

"Who owns this!" the man growled.

I was able to stand with the help of that bag.

"Sorry, my bag slipped." a woman answered.

Wait? A woman?

"Are you kidding me? It won't slip unless you intend to throw it to me!" The man growled.

"Exactly," she answered. "I intend to throw my bag at you." she added.

Is she helping me? The man tried to punch her, but luckily she avoided it. She even kicked the man without any difficulty.

"Right! I called the police a while ago. They will be here in a few minutes," she suddenly said. "You can now hurt me so I can file many cases against you."

They immediately fled the place as if nothing had happened. What was that? It was so cool that I wish it had lasted longer than a few minutes.

"Are you okay?" She asked me.

"You are cool," I managed to reply. "But my cheek itches." I added.

"You should act like you are rich or your father is a soldier or policeman so that they won't try to harm you." she said, giving advice.

"I am rich, though." I retorted.

She was shocked. "You are?" She asked. "Good for you. You don't have to worry about everything." she said, shaking off the dirt on her bag.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't think so. I have everything, but my parents think that it is not enough. They want to be richer." I answered, sharing my problem.

"You are still lucky. It is much better than mine," she replied, grinning. "My parents just separated, and my brother is sick. They don't care about us anymore. Unlike you, they are still there despite wanting to get rich. While I need to do everything." she shared.

"But they just wanted to use me," I replied, defending my side. "Because I have this skill, they don't think normal now." I added.

"You can nicely talk to them and get help from your relatives or grandparents. So that they can talk to your parents," she said. "About your skills, you can put them to good use. I am sure your parents will understand in the future. Just show them that you can do it."

That was reassuring.

"I am Matthew Zarsuelo. How about you?"

"I am—wait a minute," she said as she answered her phone. "Hello? Am I? I will be there! Thank you!" She added before ending the call.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I am hired! I need to go now," she answered. "Go home and take care!" She added before leaving.

"Wait! Your... name," I whispered. "Good luck with your work!" I shouted again.

She turned around and waved her hands widely. "Thank you! You too, good luck to your parents. Do what you love to do! Parents don't know much about what their children like. But make sure it was worth fighting for so they can't blame you if you make a mistake," she yelled from afar. "Bye!"

She is cool. I want to meet her again next time.

I will make sure to know her more when we meet again.
