Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Roy ran into the house. Shutting the door immediately he entered. He was panting, he had been so scared a while ago, so scared, he didn’t expect to see her like that. And everything now had been in vain. Just like that. Now, this happened. She must be dead now, she must have killed her, Anika was probably dead. There are no two ways about it because of the looks she has on her face. There’s no way anyone survives that.

He raced to the bedroom and slumped on the bed. With his hands on his chest. What a narrow escape, it was still late in the night, dark and awfully quiet. Beryl stole a glance at him. And looked away, she didn’t say anything. She pretended that she was still chained to the bed. Still, glued to where he left her, she shut her eyes pretending not to notice him or do anything or say anything to him. The bastard, this was his night. She remained on spot Waiting for him to come to her.

"Hey babe"

He breathed out.

"Fuck the eclipse, it ruins everything. We couldn’t get her, she’s a true monster, a deadly one at that. I’m sure Anika is dead by now. She would probably be done with the work now. Killing her. I couldn’t stay because I don’t want to, it’s because she pleaded with me to leave, else I won’t have left. I would have stayed and fought with her. You trust me don’t you.”

Beryl didn't say a word. While he rasped, she let him keep on talking without saying anything. He moved closer to her on the bed and lift her chin. He caress her face and breathed in her neck.

“We need to go far away from here, let’s run away, go somewhere far, and start all over again. Right babe. You’re gonna like it. We could go to Paris tomorrow. Very early in the morning, I’ll book a flight. Let’s leave here okay.”

“Why? I thought you said you could fight, you wanted revenge so badly didn’t you?”

“Yes, but..”

“But what? You can’t do it anymore, you can’t fight her anymore, you gave up already.”

“Look babe I’m not giving up, I’m just gonna take you somewhere safe, I don’t want anything to happen to you.”

“So this is all about me right.”

“Yes. Now you’re getting me, it’s all for you, babe.”

He was then trying to kiss her.

She stabbed him. On his chest.

Instantly.

Without blinking an eye.

She pulled the knife away and stabbed his left eye.

"Die you bastard"

She pulled it out and stabbed his chest again.

"Aargh!"

He held her hands, his mouth wide up. As he was trying to say a word.

"Die!” She yelled. Crying as those words left her mouth.

She twisted the knife in his chest.

His eyes turned red, he was fighting for words but nothing seem to be out of his mouth. she pulled it out, he fell on top of her, staining her shirt with his blood. She wanted to stab him again. The bastard who chained her to the bed so she won’t escape, beats her, molest her, she was his toy, the bastard had hurt her so much!

She pushed him off him. Standing up from the bed, it’s all over now. The terror in her life was over and he’s never gonna come back to torture her again.

She gonna turn herself in.

She sniffed again and walked out of the room.

Wiping her tears off.

It's all over.

She walked to the telephone and put a call through the police station.

“Hello, this is Beryl, I killed someone. I want you to come down here and get me I live at...”

Though it was absurd, she liked it that way, and now she was gonna sit and wait for them to come to get her.

“Stop it’s here.”

Dixon came down from the cab and ran off to the bungalow. The gate was open, he got in, and continue running to the basement, that’s where they had to be. He heard screams, then cries. He stopped running, maybe running in won’t be any good. So he would walk instead. He had to steady his steps.

He walked as slowly as he could as he walked down the stairs leading to the basement.

He saw her from the stair he was standing, she was crouching over a body, the person he was seeing was different from the ones Maeve he knew.

She was big and terrifying, her skin was dark with her prodding vein not to talk of her dark eyes, those eyes had been there before so it didn’t frighten him.

Taking the last step down. With his gaze still on hers.

“Maeve,” he whispered. She hadn’t noticed his presence, neither had she seen him.

“Alien.” He called again, this time quite louder. She looked up from the body.

Her eyes watched his, and he held the eye contact. For a moment non say a word.

This wasn’t Maeve. She was gone, he could feel it, he could see it. The way she gaze at him, not like someone she knew but a prey, But it was left for him to bring her back. He doesn’t know how he was gonna do it, but he had to do something, coming here. He had no plan at all, he had no idea what to do or what to say. And now he was here. And he remembered the promise that no matter what, he would stick to her.

“Alien, it’s me, Dixon.”

She moved away from the body, her body was covered in blood when she stood up, whoever was beneath her was dead, he quickly pulled his shirt off and covered her with it. But instead, she grabbed him by the throat and lift him to his feet.

“Alien. it’s me.” He choked on his words. His eyes were getting teary.

“Who are you?”

“It’s Dixon.”

“Remember the first time we met, that was in the kitchen. You were standing there. Backing me. You remember do you?” Instead, her finger tightens around his neck, she pinned him to the wall. Staring at his eyes.

Seeing that wasn’t working, he had to sing the song she loved so much. The song he wrote for her.

“I don’t care what people who say, I don’t mind what they would think about you, you had those perfect eyes that suit you so well. Because you’re so beautiful...” He had mustered all the strength he had to sing those parts. Surprisingly, her hand let his neck. He fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

She heard her head running to a corner. There she hid.

Groaning in pains.

Seeing this was a perfect time. He stood up and ran to her, he didn’t stay too close but close enough for her to hear what he had to say.

“Remembered when I said I love you, I meant it. I love you so much, that I don’t mind being with you. I don’t care if you’re white hairs or black eyes or prodding veins. I want you. Just you. And you told me you love. We had a lot of memories together.”

“Remember when you said you were gonna kill me. I couldn’t sleep that night.” He chuckled, he sat down now, she wasn’t groaning anymore but listen to him.

“And then when you wanted to make breakfast for me, you cooked trash mixing the ketchup and rice. Still don’t know how you did that.” He laughed.

“And you couldn’t dress up properly, I had to teach you how to dress. You wore a crazy outfit a lot of times. I was so embarrassed.” She leaned her head on the wall she sat.

“And for one reason, I couldn’t do anything other than help you. And wanted nothing else than eating meat. I had to teach you how to eat it with other food as well.”

“Don’t give up on us babe.” He sniffed. Didn’t know he was crying.

“I just want you to know that there’s someone who loves you so much than himself and I want you to know that. I love you and I’ll always do. Always. They say life isn’t fair, but love isn’t fair either.”

He wipes his tears away.

She had to stop groaning for some time now and she was just there listening to his voice.

“When I met you,

You’re the most annoying person ever.

Never knew we could turn out this way.

Love could be this bittersweet.”

“You’re so beautiful...” he heard her whisper, he thought he hadn’t maybe he was imagining stuff probably because he had the song in his heart.

The voice came again to clear his certainty.

“You’re so beautiful..”

he turned to look at her. Her head was down, and she was breathing fast.

“Maeve..” he scoots over to her side.

Then she began groaning again.

“What’s wrong.”

Her body was shuddering so much. He didn’t know what to do. He stood there watching her crying. Making the decision, that whatever happens should happen.

He pulled her into a tight hug. So tight. So she doesn’t shudder too much. But it didn’t stop her from groaning. Her body was burning at the same thing tearing apart, this was a war inside of her. The pains were unbearable.

“ I don’t care what people who say, I don’t mind what they would think about you, you had those perfect eyes that suit you so well. Because you’re so beautiful.. you’re just the perfect girl for me, you’ll be always on my mind. And I think of you every day,

My love.”

He kept singing it over and over again.

“..and you’re so beautiful..”

Then he noticed she was calmed now, but he don’t pull away from the hug, if he had wanted to, she won’t have let him so had hands were still glued to him, hugging him so tightly as well.

He hadn’t expected her to hug him back but she did.

Only she understand how she felt, slowly and like her life was leaving her, she pulled away from Dixon.

“What’s wrong.”

She couldn’t say, her entire system was changing and she was fighting within herself to stay conscious.

She tried shoving Dixon aside so she could puke something that was down on her throat but he won’t move, so she spill everything out on his feet. The darkish, substance and liquid, there was thick black blood as well, coming out of her mouth. She was puking it all out.

“Ewww.” His feet, he removes his feet from there but it was already covered with what she had thrown off. He ran off to somewhere within the basement where he could get water to wash his feet.

Returning to meet her while holding a bowl containing water.

He halted When he was close to her. The girl he was seeing, she was tanned skin, blue eyes, and long red-brown hairs.

She was lying on the ground. Close to where she had puked on.

He ran to her immediately, lifting her off the ground and taking her in his arms.

“Maeve.”

“Dixon.” She whispered so weakly.

He hugs her. She cried softly in his arms.

“I’m thirsty.” He pulled away from her and gave her the water so she could drink from it.

She gulped it down, returning the bowl to him.

“Is this truly you.”

She smiled faintly and snuggles up in his arms. His hands wrapped around her.

He sniffed. And kissed her forehead.

“I love you, Dixon.”

“I love you more than you do. So much then you can imagine.”

He kissed her forehead again. Down to her neck. She looked at him and saw tears in his eyes, she wipe them off with her fingers and kissed his lips.

“You did it.” He said.

“You’re human again, you did it.”

“Our Love did. We fought together.”

“Take me home...”
