Chapter 18: Chapter 18

Bruce smile as the soft hands keep working on his hair, slowly he opened his eyes, searching for those hands and Linda face came in view stroking his hair.

"Holy moly!"

He jumped down from his bed.

"What in the name of...."

"Must you make a fuss of everything "

He ruffled his hair.

"Mom"

"How are you son"

He almost roll his eyes.

"Shouldn't you be asking Dixon that "

"What's wrong asking you "

"Mom, you hardly ask me since your priorities are on Dixon not me"

Linda stood up from the bed, standing in front of him.

"You're still my son, I care for you too "

"Whatever Mom, just go over to Dixon, he needs you more than I do,anyway "

Linda shook her head in negativity.

"You need me more, both of you. And am gonna try and be there for you both "

"Alright Mom, can you leave now seeing you here irks me"

"Bruce!"

"Sorry Mom "

He walked past her into the bathroom slamming the door behind him.

Linda watched him out of the corner of her eyes.

"I need to speak to sir Albert urgently, please tell him am here "

"I already did that mister, he said you should wait for a moment he will be with you”

Roy nodded again, pacing around.

"Excuse me please "

The butler turned to him.

"Never mind."

Roy waved him off.

Linda watched him as she climbed down the stairs.

"And who're you?"

Roy twirled around to face her.

"Good morning mrs Albert.

“Am Lucas Roy"

"Oh you're Lucas' son, you came here the other day"

"Yes mrs Albert "

"Call me Linda please "

Roy nodded but didn't dare say the name.

"What's your business with Albert "

"Our businesses has nothing to do with you "

Albert came out of the study with santus behind him, shutting the door.

He approached them with his hands tucked in his pocket.

His appearance alone would send you bowing at him.

His aura speaks for him.

He didn't even need to say much.

Bruce was upstairs watching them, he hated himself for not having those looks of Albert but had that soft looks of Linda.

Dixon was lucky to look so much like their father than he.

He cussed inwardly.

Walking back to his room.

"Be careful husband"

Linda drawled at the last word, walking past him to the kitchen.

"Come with me Roy "

Roy hasten his footsteps after Albert as they walked towards a room which was not his study.

They sat comfortably on a chair opposite themselves.

Roy looked down, cause he knew he messed up, and didn’t get the book.

"I couldn’t get the book.”

Albert didn’t say a word but just watched him. He leaned back into the chair.

"What’re You doing here then, why are you here.”

"But I know something. A warning.”

Albert laughed.

“A warning about what? What can you possibly warn me about.”

“There’s Someone planning on killing you sir Albert, you’ve to be careful. And the other warning is on the full eclipse be sure to lock your door, because she would be a full borne demon. Her humanity will be wiped out completely. You don’t want to end up like my father.”

“Someone is planning on killing me? It could be the demon girl.”

“We can’t say, sir, it could be a fellow human like you.”

“How did you know about all this?”

“It’s my work remember.”

"Ho-ho, look what you have cause"

"Humph, disgusting Dixon "

The sing song voice came again from those flowers in the vase.

"Shut up!"

He yelled, pointing fingers on the vase.

"Don't tell me to shut up, I didn't do anything "

"You're right, he's a stubborn ass"

It laughed at him.

"Shut up!"

"Don't take your anger out on me "

He held his head, walking away from the vase but he could still hear the distinct chatting.

"Am going mad"

He glanced sideways, everything he sight his eyes on was either talking to him or laughing at him, mocking him.

"It's just an hallucination"

"It's gonna pass" he assured himself.

He covered his eyes staggering on his feet as he walks back to the vase.

He took it.

"Oh you're gonna throw me out just like you did to her, you're inhuman "

"Shut up, am not going insane, stop talking nonsense "

The sing song voice came again.

"You're not insane, you're stupid humph"

He placed it back on the table and slide down on his knees.

It's been two days and he hadn't seen her.

Two days and he had been horrible.

He was still on his pajamas, barely able to do anything.

Expect hearing voices here and there...

He hugged himself, he never wanted any of this to happened.

His phone rang and he pulled it out from his pocket staring at the caller unknown ID.

He watched the phone ringing.

The caller was persistent.

He picked the call.

"Hello "

His voice was hoarse and low that he couldn't believe it was his voice so he said again.

"Hello "

But it wasn't any better. But he could go with this.

"Dixon right "

"And you're.."

“Detective Sean, you need to come over to the station right own. Do you know of a lady Elmer. “

“Elmer??”

That lady, that stop him the other day, that made mention of seeing him.

What now, this was the least of his problems.

“You need to confirm something. Be fast.”

He hanged up.

Dixon flung the phone aside. Hissing through his teeth. What he wanted to hear was Maeve’s voice, that she was okay, that she’s coming back to him.

Not some stupid investigating journalist.

A hour later he hurried to the bathroom washing his face, if the dark circles could reduce a bit.

But it didn't.

Groaning in annoyance. He lazily walked out of the house. Drawing circles on the wall as he walks

"Bye Dixon "

"Bye"

He halted.

Did he just reply.

He's insane.

******

Beryl hurled her clothes into a small bag. Her both cheek was swollen with a black eye. Whimpering as she tucked them in the bag.

She was done with Roy and never coming back or set her eyes on him again.

Then she had a light chuckle.

Turning, she saw Roy watching her while he leaned on the door with his hands crossed.

"Where are you off to babe"

He smirked.

Dixon came down from his car, and walked to the investigating department. His move was slow, like he was been forced. His head was down, and he keep dragging his feet on the ground. Till he got to Detective Sean’s desk. He slumped in the seat in front of him. And sighed.

“What’s wrong with you?”

“Can’t say.”

“Another heart break?”

His exhaled.

“Well, this isn’t a time for this. Where were you last night?”

“Where else would I be if not stuck in my bed.”

He brought out a picture and dropped it in front of Dixon.

“This lady, Elmer, called you last night. You were on her list of the last person she contacted.”

“I didn’t receive her call, cause I wasn’t with my phone and neither was I in the mood to talk to anyone.”

“She sent a message to you.”

“Really?.”

He brought out his phone from his pocket.

“Listen to this...” he took out a phone which perhaps was Elmer.

“Hey, Dixon, I know you didn’t do it, you didn’t kill jasmine, the person who did has been stalking me, because I know the truth, I happened to see him that night on my way home. This was wanted I wanted to tell you. He’s been on my neck all this years but ain’t scared anymore. I’m releasing an article able it. There was a scar on his....” the voice became faint, like she was struggling with something

“He’s here....” and they heard a screamed.

“Did she release the article?” Dixon asked.

“She did, and this are about to go rough, she’d released that article few minutes before she called you.”

“And where’s she?”

“Dead.”

Dixon held his head. His eyes were blurry.

“This is the same man, who framed Eamon for murder, he had a scar on his both cheeks. He’s the real beast here!” He yelled.

“And now he took her life! Because she saw him, he framed me too, I spent five damn years in prison for a crime I don’t know about. He destroyed my life and he’s doing same to others. That same man is out there! Nothing has been done. No trace. No ID. No DNA. Nothing!”

“Like You did anything when they hurl you in prison. You ain’t different from them.” The voice came from the pen in Detective Sean shirt.

“Shut up!” Dixon yelled.

Earning a look from everyone in the office.

“Calm down Dixon. Now we know who is behind all this, we just had to put more effort.”

“For how long? It’s has past a decade since you guys had began searching for him! Yet nothing! Eamon is still suffering in prison, nothing is done.”

“You didn’t do anything either Dixon when jasmine died. You left everything for the cops, you’re to blame as well.”

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear anymore word from you?”

Detective Sean shake his head and touched Dixon shoulders. Dixon used the opportunity to take the pen away from his pocket and flung them aside.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.”

“Sure you don’t need to see doctor.”

“I said I’m fine.”

He pushed the chair backwards and stood up.

“We’ll get to the bottom of this, I know it will take a while.”

“You’re always at the bottom of things.” He stepped out of the chair.

“Dixon..I know how you feel, I’m deeply sorry.”

“You have no idea how I feel.” He point his index finger at him.

“Don’t even say it.” The voice came again. He just need to get out of here.

“Detective Sean, there’s nothing there, we’ve searched around, not a trace of hair anywhere.” A detective said.

Dixon halted in his track. The hair. Could it be the one he took. That’s why they hadn’t seen it.

“Seems someone got there before us.”

Dixon didn’t look at him, cause he could feel Detective Sean eyes on him.

He walked out.

And heard Detective Sean whispered.

“Follow him.”

He was a suspect for helping the demon girl, his alien.

“Just take a sip, it’s water and it’s good. Just a sip.” Dr Green urges. Maeve pouted. Shaking her head.

“I need blood.”

“Do you want to be a vampire, I can make you one.” He snarled, showing her his teeth. Maeve laughed.

“What’s a vampire?”

“They fade at day and active at night. Sucking blood from people. And they can turn you to be one of them as well.”

“I want to be one.” She joked.

“The you’ll never get to see light again?”

“Why?”

“Because it’s kills them, that’s one of their weakness. Do you still want to be one.”

“I’ll think about it.”

Dr. Green laughed.

“See, two days and you hadn’t killed anyone, two days and you lived like human.”

“Because I’ve accepted that I’m a demon and I can control myself. But that doesn’t mean I won’t have the urge to kill, I’ll still kill but not as much as it was before.”

Dr. Green clapped.

“You’re doing great. Now a sip.” She took a sip from the water.

“Very good.” He dropped the cup. “You don’t need drugs or injections to stay alive. All you need is yourself.”

“I don’t need Dixon do I?”

“More than ever. Because he’ll help you. Without you knowing, he’ll bring back your humanity. You miss him don’t you?”

She nodded.

“Ready to go back now?”

“Until I know why my hair is pulling off. How do you explain that? Am not dying am I?”

Dr. Green didn’t say a word. He hesitated before looking up to her curious eyes.

“Yes. You’re dying. Slowly.”

It felt like her world shatters. Immediately feeling so weak. She was expecting it but she hadn’t thought it would hurt this much.

“Are you ready for the full eclipse? For a change?”

“Yes.”

“Which movie would you like to watch?” He asked, changing the channel of the Tv. He could tell she was ready now, ready to say beside Dixon and not be a threat. To him or anyone.
