Chapter 424: Chapter 424
Li Qingshen was startled and then saw the girl hurry into the elevator. He patiently stood there, tilting his head back, silently counting the time until, upon reaching twenty, the lights in her room came on, followed by moving shadows.
Soon after, the elevator opened, and Ling Momo ran over, holding a gift box.
Ling Momo stood in front of Li Qingshen, bit her lower lip, and then handed over the gift box to him. Follow current novels on novel-fire.net
Li Qingshen frowned and asked, "What’s this?"
"It’s for you." Ling Momo pursed her lips and smiled sweetly, her beauty pure and dazzling.
Li Qingshen was surprised for a few minutes before remembering that recently, when Ling Momo was messaging him, she had said she would give him a present. His eyes suddenly sparkled with light, "What is it?"
Ling Momo’s voice was brisk, "Just go home and open it, and you’ll know!"
Li Qingshen nodded, his gaze fixed on Ling Momo’s eyes and brows, a hint of a smile flickering across his face. "You better get back upstairs quickly. It’s cold; don’t catch a cold."
Ling Momo also curved her lips, her tone sweet, "Drive safely."
Li Qingshen softly "mm-hmm"ed, but showed no sign of turning around to get into the car. Momo hesitated, initially planning to walk away, but after a moment’s thought, she looked up again, her eyes and brows rippling with a comfortable smile, and spoke softly, just four words, "Happy birthday!"
Li Qingshen was taken aback.
For a full ten seconds.
Then his eyes lit up with a touch of surprise, bright as if all the stars in the galaxy had converged within them.
Ling Momo didn’t say any more and turned around, scampering off just as she had dashed upstairs.
Li Qingshen watched her fleeting figure, his lips curving unintentionally once more.
Then he quickly got into the car, turned on the interior light, and carefully unwrapped the package, inside which lay a simple and elegant white porcelain cup, resting quietly.
Li Qingshen smiled broadly, beaming with joy.
In truth, this was the least expensive gift he had ever received.
But for him, it was the most precious one.

Driving, Li Qingshen took several turns when his phone in the pocket began to ring. He took it out; there was a WeChat message from Ling Momo, a long one, talking about the events of tonight at Lu Niange and Jian Chenxi’s wedding.
With one hand driving, Li Qingshen replied to her WeChat message: "Happy?"
"Mmm, very happy!" Ling Momo quickly responded, and then added another message, "Wait for me a minute, I’m going to take a shower!"
Li Qingshen didn’t reply again; he put his phone aside and focused on driving.
It had been so long since he felt as delighted as he did now.
Turns out, loving someone can truly make a person lose their reason.
Often, he knew he loved Ling Momo, but he didn’t know what love was. He had looked it up online, and though Baidu’s answers were many and varied, none satisfied him.
Until tonight, he didn’t know what love really was, but now, he knew what love meant to him.
To him, love was Ling Momo.
There’s a saying that hits the nail on the head: nobody is indispensable for anyone else’s survival. He was certain that he could live without Ling Momo, but life wouldn’t have the vividness it held now.
