Chapter 1075: Chapter 1075

The atmosphere instantly turned icy following the sudden appearance of Goddess Freyja.

Naturally, neither Perserque nor Aeria recognized who she was.

“Oh, is that what happened? You went off to have fun with some girl while I wasn’t feeling well?!” Perserque barked out in anger.

Normally, she would’ve never acted that way, but for some reason, she’d completely lost her usual composure. The feelings she’d been harboring erupted all at once.

She had tried to think positively about the situation, convincing herself that everything was fine. Yet, after hearing that Davey had spent time with another woman, even making up excuses beforehand, it was as if he had pulled the pin on a grenade.

The tears streaming down Perserque’s face showed just how hurt she was.

“Hold on, Per! She’s—”

Light gathered in her hand, forming into a massive staff. It was none other than the Transcendence’s Demise. He had granted her authority, so even if it was in his Pocket Plane, she could freely summon it.

Violet mana began to gather at the tip of the Transcendence’s Demise, and before Davey could even react, a violet flash shot toward him.

“Urgh!!” Davey dove to the side, dodging the blast as he stared at Perserque, clearly shaken.

If she had been even slightly off, an accident could’ve happened.

“Hey. That’s enough—”

“It’s not the same with Aeria and Illyna!!” She had already come to terms with the fact that, even before they were married, Davey had given a piece of his heart to those two.

She suddenly threw something at him.

It was a small wrist guard. It wasn’t fancy, but it fit his wrist perfectly, and despite being a little rough, it was clearly made with care.

Davey stood speechless, watching her run away while wiping her tears.

Illyna walked in and shook her head. “I’ve never seen her this mad before. You better go deal with it. And you—whoever you are—keep it in check, would you?”

“Y-You got this!” Aeria added before she backed off as well.

Now that even Aeria had left, Davey couldn’t help but feel furious. “What in the world are you trying to pull here?!”

Following his outburst, Goddess Freyja looked up at him with her hands behind her back, holding out a notebook.

[Should I just leave her be?]

“Of course not, you lunatic!”

“This is all because of you, you little—” The entire situation had gone south because of her, but Davey swallowed the rest of that sentence. He figured telling her wouldn’t help. After all, there was no way she’d understand. She had an ego, sure, but something about her was just fundamentally off.

“Let’s talk when I get back. And I’m warning you! If you ever pull this crap again, I won’t let it slide.”

Leaving behind her inscrutable, offbeat expression, Davey took off after Perserque. However, she was nowhere to be found.

[Contractor! Where in the world have you been wandering off to?!]

A massive black dragon thrust its head toward him from outside the tower.

[The contract between us was momentarily severed, and it caused enormous chaos!]

There was only one reason the contract would break: Davey’s death.

That possibility had thrown everyone into a panic, especially since the disconnection lasted for days.

‘Maybe that's why she lost her cool.No wonder the entire territory felt so unusually tense.’

“There were extenuating circumstances, and I ended up somewhere disconnected from everyone. It wasn’t intentional.”

Megalodria didn't have a response.

“Go calm the others down, would you?”

[I see, now you’re just dumping the annoying stuff on me.]

Despite the complaint, Megalodria looked noticeably relieved.

Once the dragon flew off without hesitation, Davey made his way toward the private garden. Fortunately, he found Perserque there.

Startled by his voice, she flinched but continued to ignore him, refusing to meet his gaze.

“That woman was just messing around.”

“Perserque. Look at me.” When he slowly approached and reached out to place a hand on her shoulder, she flinched again.

“None of this would’ve been a problem under normal circumstances. No one could have expected something like that to happen.”

“What are you even talking about?” she tearfully grumbled.

Davey sat down next to her on the bench, looking out over the territory. “Is it okay if I sit here?”

“You’re already sitting. What kind of manners is that, asking after the fact?”

“A long time ago...” he began.

She wiped her tears and finally turned her head toward him to listen.

“There was a serious issue with your body.”

For the first time, she looked up directly at him.

“Back then, your father sought help from a mage he’d heard about in order to save you.”

“Yeah. Thanks to that mage, you were stabilized—but it wasn’t a complete fix.”

As Davey continued explaining, she managed to stop hiccuping and asked carefully, “So that’s related to me having a child?”

“Yes, having a child will bring that problem back to you.”

“Then you can just fix it. You’re the greatest mage in history—”

“No. It’s impossible, even for me.”

“That spell can only be cast by one person in the entire world. Odin and I both knew that, which is why we’ve never dared to tamper with it. I’ll explain everything in more detail later.”

He would never be able to tell her the truth about the memory issues tied to her past, but that didn’t matter. Davey had already made up his mind to eliminate anything that could become a problem.

“I left for a few days to find a way to alter the magic engraved on your soul.”

“What about that woman, then?” Perserque pressed him, demanding an explanation. She was clearly referring to that damned avatar of the Goddess Freyja, the one who had stirred her up by saying they’d been out on dates.

“Well, it was a half-lie.”

“So you’re saying the other half is true.”

“At the very least, it wasn’t a romantic date.”

Davey stood up and scooped her into his arms.

“Wha—?! What are you doing?!”

“Let’s go. I’m going to modify the spell carved into your soul. Once this is done, you’ll be able to have children without any issue.”

She didn't know what to say.

“I’ll make it work. Just trust me, one more time.”

She looked at him with teary eyes. “This time... you're not lying, right?”

“If you lie to me again, I’ll never look at you again in my life.”

“I swear, I’m not lying.”

‘I even traveled to the past for this.’

While he had gone with the risk of altering the future, in the end, it fortunately hadn’t led to any major changes.

Seeing his gentle smile, she lowered her head before gently giving a small nod.

Perserque had decided to trust Davey, believing that accepting the final spell into her body would fulfill the last condition for her to bear a child.

“So, what exactly are you here to do?”

Goddess Freyja silently held out her notebook.

[You’ll find out soon enough.]

Davey knew there was no way she would have come all that way for no reason.

He then suddenly remembered the red gemstone she had given him. He knew it was still too early to pass it on to Evangeline, but even when Goddess Freyja acted strangely, she always ended up doing things that benefited him in the long run.

He left her, who was silently waiting behind him, and stepped into the bedroom where Perserque lay.

She lay on a bed, around which a large and bizarre magic circle had already been drawn. It was completely different from standard circles. From its structure to the symbols inside, everything was unfamiliar.

If an amateur mage saw it, they’d probably think it was nothing but nonsensical scribbles. It followed no known rules, laws, or magical conventions.

It was practically closer to a miracle than a spell—one that could only be realized by completely shattering conventional logic.

Looking at the finished circle, Davey spoke quietly, “I’ll start now. Once you wake up, everything will be alright.”

Perserque looked at him from the bed and gave a slight nod. Then, she quietly closed her eyes.

At the same time, the mana Davey had prepared in advance began to resonate. The magic circle, previously looking like nothing but a mess, slowly began to respond, one part at a time.

By all logic, the circle shouldn’t have worked. Nonetheless, it activated.

Illyna and Aeria watched, puzzled. Neither of them was well-versed in magic, and they couldn’t grasp what was happening.

Perserque herself had been equally bewildered the first time she saw the circle, asking what on earth it was supposed to be.

[While the spell is active, you need to hold on to the memories buried deep in her subconscious.]

Goddess Freyja nodded quietly in response.

“Hey, Davey. I’ve been wondering, who is this woman anyway?” Illyna asked as she pointed at Goddess Freyja, treating her as nothing more than an uninvited guest.

Davey let out a small chuckle. “I’ll explain later.”

At last, the magic circle was fully activated and began resonating with Davey.

Once Perserque fell into a deep sleep, her soul and his started to connect and resonate. Soon enough, Davey felt the massive door and sealed lock buried deep within her soul.

He had reached the twisted and immense trauma that Goddess Freyja had sealed away.

Standing at the threshold, Davey began accelerating the spell’s operation. He inserted the key into the lock engraved on her soul and released it.

At that moment, her memories flooded his mind. They were horrific, tragic, and excruciatingly painful memories. They were the origin of her intense trauma. Until he could reconstruct the seal on those memories, Davey had to hold them back from reaching her.

It was her trauma, not his. Even if the memories tried to gnaw away at his mind, he had no intention of giving them any room to slip through.

While he focused entirely on Perserque’s mind, he had no idea what was happening around him outside.

Aeria looked at Perserque with a worried look. “Do you think she’ll be okay?”

“Her mana’s really unstable...” Illyna said in an uneasy tone.

Neither of them was a mage, but they could both clearly tell that the situation was far more serious than they’d anticipated.

“We at least need to bring in a mage who can help stabilize the mana.” Illyna turned, ready to head out.

There were plenty of skilled elven mages who might be able to help. She figured that if she could bring them there, Perserque would become fine again. It was then that Illyna noticed someone grabbing her arm.

It was the woman who had accompanied Davey inside, seeming exceptionally familiar with him.

“What are you doing? Let go of me,” Illyna said as politely as she could.

Still, the woman simply shook her head in silence. The most update n0vels are published on n0velfire.net

“Hey. Don’t push it—”

The woman thrust her notebook forward.

[They’re not the ones we need.]

Illyna’s brows furrowed. “What do you...?”

Then she witnessed something utterly shocking.

The woman who had shown her the notebook clapped her hands gently, and in that instant, something incredible began to happen.

The power she emanated wasn’t mana. Instead, it resembled holy power yet even deeper, older, and more sacred.

“D-Divine power!” Illyna stared at her, eyes wide in disbelief.

The divine energy flowing from the woman’s body made it perfectly clear who she was.

Illyna instinctively dropped to her knees and bowed her head.

Aeria, who had been standing to the side, jumped and cried out in shock. “What?!”

Even so, Goddess Freyja, eyes closed, said nothing as her divine power filled the room.

“Wait. Are you really the Goddess Freyja?” Illyna asked, her voice filled with confusion.

Still, Goddess Freyja simply raised her hand and waved it lightly through the air. The air suddenly warped, and someone dropped to the floor with a thud.

“Ow! Which damn idiot—?!” The small blonde girl who had landed among them started to shout at whoever had pulled her out, but she soon stopped when she saw who it was. “Y-You...”

Even facing her outburst, Goddess Freyja remained indifferent and calmly raised a finger, pointing toward both Perserque and Davey, who was resonating with her.

A single word appeared in her notebook.

It was the kind of situation that normally would’ve had Odin up in arms. Yet for some reason, she followed her instructions without a word and began drawing in mana.

“I figured that idiot Davey wouldn’t be able to handle it alone. I had wondered why he went off by himself,” Odin said as she hooked mana onto her fingertips and began to wave them as if conducting an orchestra. Almost immediately, the once-chaotic mana began to gradually settle.

Watching silently, Goddess Freyja then extended another hand into the air.

Another person was forcibly summoned into the world.

“Ugh. where the hell is—huh? What’s that idiot over there doing?” The man who had suddenly appeared froze as he caught sight of the girl whose hand Davey was holding.

[By the will of God.]

[For the first and last time.]

The words on her notebook changed again.

[I’ll give you a chance to meet your daughter.]

It was a line filled with an unexpectedly human sentiment.

The second individual from the rift, Sword God Ares, walked forward blankly and looked at his daughter lying asleep on the bed. He had never expected to reunite with her under such circumstances.

He had truly believed they’d never meet again, as he would’ve had to sacrifice a lot in order to descend to middle earth. Astonishingly, the avatar of a god standing before him was disregarding all such conditions and performing a miracle.

Ares hadn’t been summoned to assist with the magic circle. Odin alone was enough for that. However, there was something only he could do.

That simple phrase stirred something deep within him.

He clenched his teeth. “Per...”

His hands trembled as he looked at her. His lips parted like he wanted to speak, but no sound came out. Only a faint shiver ran through him.

Odin, Illyna, and Aeria watched his back in silence. Quickly realizing what was going on, Aeria watched the long-awaited reunion between father and daughter while crying.

“Why are you...” Ares finally said a couple of words. “Why are you so skinny? Have you been eating properly? My sweet Perserque.”

He held her hand, his eyes closed, and spoke with difficulty, sounding awkward and halting.

He always thought he had failed as a father.

She had believed herself to be a disgrace as a daughter.

They had both avoided that moment, even when opportunities to reunite had come. Ares, deep down, had been one to run from it, despite saying he wanted to meet her.

Yet in that moment, forcibly summoned by Goddess Freyja and faced with his daughter’s sleeping face, he knew that everything he had said or done had just been excuses.

He’d desperately wanted to see her. All those times he’d said that he was fine, or that things were better the way they were, he had still longed for her.

“Goddess, manipulating my emotions feels wrong.”

[Those are your emotions.]

“I have nothing to say to that.” Though clearly taken aback by how human Goddess Freyja seemed, Ares didn’t pursue further.

There was no time to focus on her when his daughter laid before him. He’d said he was fine not seeing her, and that it didn’t matter. Yet the moment he saw her face, his mind went blank. He was overwhelmed with guilt. He was overwhelmed by how much he had loved and missed her.

The usual laziness in his expression had disappeared. Only a hollow sorrow remained as he stared down at Perserque.

As the glowing light of the scribble-like magic circle intensified, silence filled the room. All things were in place for it to proceed smoothly to the end.

Unfortunately, things in the world rarely went so smoothly.

Just then, Goddess Freyja held out her notebook to Illyna, whose eyes were already misty from tears.

[A threat is coming.]

[Will you stop them?]

Illyna blinked in shock before her face hardened with determination and fury. “What kind of bastards are we talking about?”

She was already holding her divine sword.
