Chapter 392: Chapter 392
The trial of the Dawn Clan had spread throughout Shadow City that same night.
Following Jias back to their residence, Gabriel showed a hint of pleading on his face. "Great-Grandfather, can we run away?"
"What about the clan members?" Jias asked calmly.
"The clan members... the clan members did nothing wrong; they won’t suffer any consequences," Gabriel said, speaking nonsense.
Sensing the changing gazes from the brothers Gavin and Jia Wu behind him, Jias angrily slapped Gabriel across the face, swelling his handsome features. Frustrated, he said, "I’ve always said you were not fit to be the Young Master. Why did I insist on placing you in this position?"
Gabriel was the son of the current Clan Leader of the Dawn Clan. However, unlike his siblings who had earned their positions as Young Masters through their own strengths, Gabriel was nothing but a waste.
With True Immortal Cultivation, no real experience, and significant character flaws, if it weren’t for the sizeable influence of his mother’s side of the family, he would have already been devoured by others.
"Gavin, Jia Wu, don’t overthink this. I will report this matter to the Clan Leader, and I will suggest revoking Gabriel’s status as the ninth Young Master. Unfortunately, both of you will have to enter the Five Elements Heavenly Prison, but I will take care of your families," Jias assured, turning to comfort them.
"Thank you, Elder," the two brothers said, somewhat moved.
Unbeknownst to them, as Jias helped them up, he left behind a barely noticeable mark.
Three days quickly passed, and Jias brought the three men to the Interrogation Hall. To prevent any tricks, Luo Wencheng even made a special trip there.
The Five Elements Heavenly Prison was not a dungeon, but a Secret Realm that Chen Jiuge, acting on the advice of Su Mei and Li Qiuwen, had purchased from Qian Baolin at great expense. After being modified with a Five Elements Formation, the Secret Realm’s environment was transformed into one of extreme Five Elements. It was the most popular celestial prison realm, often used to detain Cultivators whose crimes did not demand death.
Moreover, the Secret Realm was incredibly sturdy; it would take even an Immortal considerable time to break through, let alone a Golden Immortal.
Heavy handcuffs and shackles were locked onto the three prisoners. These were Forbidden Magic Locks, capable of sealing the Cultivation within a Cultivator’s body. As long as the Cultivation did not exceed that of a Golden Immortal, it could be completely sealed off, although it was not very effective against Physical Body Cultivation.
Black Eye, who also served as the Prison Director, folded his arms across his chest and asked, "What are the charges?"
Luo Wencheng replied with an ambiguous look in his eyes, "After you read them, you’ll definitely want to ’serve’ these three properly."
As a diligent and capable Spiritual Beast, Black Eye did not like the people from Asura because they did not follow rules. They just knew how to fight all the time, proved to be useless, and only caused chaos.
Glancing casually at the charges of ’harassing the City Lord’s wife’, a fierce smile appeared on Black Eye’s young-looking face. "This really is interesting."
The three men looked at each other, though in reality, it was Gabriel who kept glancing at the other two, as if wanting them to take the fall.
Black Eye yanked on the iron chains, saying indifferently, "Time’s up; time to go in."
Until the Secret Realm was completely sealed, Gabriel continued to look at his great-grandfather with hopeful eyes. It was a pity his great-grandfather was not very reliable.
The Five Elements Heavenly Prison could withstand the attacks of an Immortal. This was mainly because all the Spiritual Energy in this Secret Realm was used to reinforce the Great Array and the Void Storage Barrier. The longer time passed, the more impregnable the Secret Realm became, further enhanced by the energy of deceased prisoners feeding back into it.
However, there was still Spiritual Energy in the areas where the prison guards operated. In fact, it was quite dense, as even a slight leak from the entire realm’s Spiritual Energy was enough to make the guards’ living quarters overflow with it.
Dim corridors, bloody iron bars, and sporadic Hellhounds passing by brought a shiver to Gabriel’s body. Nᴇw novel chapters are publɪshed on novelfire.net
"What are you doing?" asked Gabriel in panic as he was pressed down onto a chair.
"What am I doing? You’ll find out soon enough," Black Eye said with a whistle.
Various Hellhounds, formerly Golden Dogs, came running swiftly. Chen Jiuge had specially bred these Hellhounds for Black Eye to use as underlings since Black Eye took on the role of Prison Director.
Standing upright, the Hellhounds approached, holding an assortment of chilling torture instruments.
Piercing screams sent a wave of fear across the faces of Gavin and Jia Wu outside, realizing that torture was being used.
At the Dawn Clan’s residence:
Gabriel was Jias’s own great-grandson. Gabriel’s recent slip of the tongue had profoundly disappointed Jias.
Looking at the lifeless bodies of Gavin’s and Jia Wu’s families, Jias said with a trace of sorrow, "I didn’t want to do this. If you have to blame someone, blame them for not keeping their mouths shut and insisting on telling you all. After all, I am his great-grandfather. I can’t just watch my great-grandson be spurned by the clan."
One after another, the bodies crumbled into fragments and faded into the air, as if the bloodshed witnessed before was all an illusion.
After Jias left, Luo Wencheng appeared at the site, clicking his tongue. "What a ruthless guy, even killing his own clan members."
But this could be used to our advantage, Luo Wencheng thought, a chuckle escaping him. Those two girls are quite cunning. Let them scheme properly, and maybe we can keep this batch of the Dawn Clan.
Thinking of the future scenario where his injured clan members would instantly recover with the aid of the Dawn Clan, Luo Wencheng couldn’t help but feel elated.
Soon after receiving the news, Su Mei sought out Li Qiuwen to discuss. After a long deliberation, they came to an agreement. "If we want Gavin and Jia Wu to serve us wholeheartedly, then we need to be honest, and it’s best they don’t see a way out."
"Gabriel is a good candidate for this."
Gavin and Jia Wu, who had expected to also suffer such punishment, suddenly found that, surprisingly, they were spared.
One on each side, they supported the wound-covered Gabriel and chose the relatively more benign Wood Element section of the Heavenly Prison.
In fact, there was no need to choose, as the Five Elements Heavenly Prison was interconnected; one could go anywhere they desired. Although no food was provided, there were still some mundane creatures surviving inside, and filling one’s belly was possible.
"Big brother, the Young Master needs some Spiritual Objects to replenish his vital energy; otherwise, these injuries will be hard to heal," Gavin said, his expression grim.
"I’ll go look for some. Although the Spiritual Energy in the Five Elements Secret Realm is absorbed by the Great Array to strengthen itself and the Void Barrier, there’s bound to be some leakage. A thorough search should yield something," Jia Wu said calmly.
Barely managing to open his eyelids and looking at his two unscathed companions, Gabriel felt a surge of grievance and rage. "Why are you two unharmed?" he demanded. "Have you betrayed me? Betrayed the Dawn Clan?"
"Young Master, we haven’t," Jia Wu said with a frown.
The pain coursing through his body brought some clarity to Gabriel’s mind, and he showed a hint of apology. "I was too agitated."
"Young Master, your injuries are severe. I’ll go find you some food."
"Gavin, take good care of the Young Master. It’s likely there are more than just us here."
"Understood, big brother."
Jia Wu, venturing outside, looked sharply at the lush thicket, his wings slightly unfurling on his back, emitting a strange rhythmic sound.
"Tsk tsk tsk, to think it’s the Dawn Clan." A burly figure appeared.
A single horn, blue patterns, shark teeth—this was the Ghost Shark Clan.
"The Ghost Shark Clan?" Jia Wu said, wary.
Watching the small animals on the ground that were lured over, Sha Jun casually grabbed a rabbit and stuffed it into his mouth, his sharp shark teeth tearing it into pieces, fur and skin swallowed whole.
"Hey, you’ve got decent abilities. Come and join me," Sha Jun offered.
"Impossible," Jia Wu rejected without a second thought.
Sha Jun shrugged indifferently. "If you change your mind, I hope you’ll come find me. My name is Sha Jun, and I’m usually in the Water Element section of the Heavenly Prison."
After some picky searching, Jia Wu finally found two Half-spirit beasts carrying a fair amount of Spiritual Energy. It was ironic—outside, not to mention eating such wild beasts, even catching a glimpse of them was not easy.
"Young Master, this is all I found," Jia Wu said, somewhat embarrassed as he looked at Gabriel’s displeased expression.
A rat and a small snake. Of the common pests—snakes, insects, rats, and ants—he had brought two. This certainly didn’t improve Gabriel’s mood.
But the pain in his body told Gabriel that he had no choice but to eat.
Watching the mouse burst in Gabriel’s mouth, Gavin felt a wave of nausea and, covering his mouth, ran to one side.
Holding the small snake, Jia Wu’s face stiffened as he said tentatively, "Young Master, my brother is ignorant. Please don’t take it to heart."
Gabriel, exposing his blood-stained teeth, smiled faintly. "Why would I mind?"
"After all, I’ll need your help to recover."
"We will do our utmost to assist the Young Master in healing," Jia Wu said, bowing his head.
However, Jia Wu didn’t notice that, in the moment he bowed his head, Gabriel’s eyes were exceedingly gloomy, filled with an intense longing to execute them both.
Prison Director’s Office:
Da Bai, propping his legs up leisurely, watched the surveillance feeds. The usually delicious chips had lost their appeal as he pointed at Gabriel munching on the rat on the screen. "Black Eye," he said, "how could you make it so disgusting? Couldn’t you at least leave them some fire?"
Pushing his gold-rimmed glasses up on the bridge of his nose, Black Eye said precisely, "They are prisoners. There’s no need to provide them with a source of fire. We are already being kind by not completely cutting off their food supply."
Immortals can go without eating, but this is contingent on being in an environment with Spiritual Energy. Without its replenishment, Immortals still get hungry. However, compared to ordinary people, Immortals can endure hunger for much longer.
"Alright, alright. So what’s your plan for dealing with Gabriel?" Da Bai asked curiously.
"You’ll find out when the time comes," Black Eye replied with a sidelong glance.
"No, tell me now. I’m here asking on behalf of all the beasts," Da Bai said, pulling out a petition signed by various Spiritual Beasts—a precaution Yue Meng had prepared to ensure Black Eye wouldn’t dismiss it.
Black Eye inspected the signatures, then considered for a moment. "That Sha Jun I previously arranged was part of the plan," he said. "He likes men."
"It’s just that Gabriel is quite injured right now, and Sha Jun is afraid of accidentally killing him, so he wants to let Gabriel heal first."
"By the way, when you go back, could you tell Steward Su that I have plans for the other two members of the Dawn Clan? Don’t reveal the truth to them yet. I believe the Young Master of the Dawn Clan will certainly bring us a surprise," Black Eye said, a cold smile playing on his lips as he observed Gabriel’s extremely dark gaze on the screen.
"Fine, but it feels like your mind’s filled with nothing but bad ideas after staying in this place for so long."
"You should come back to Eden Garden and catch up. Leaving Hei Mu’s nephew to graze alone there, aren’t you worried something could go wrong?"
Mentioning Hei Mu, a flicker of satisfaction crossed Black Eye’s face. He was content with his son and knew he should indeed visit Eden Garden soon. There was still a shortage of staff in the Five Elements Heavenly Prison, and they couldn’t keep using Hellhounds as replacements forever.
I heard that quite a few people from the small worlds that previously inhabited the Heavenly Bull Realm have broken through to True Immortal, Black Eye murmured to himself. I wonder if we could recruit some of them.
Seven years later, a huge vortex appeared above a courtyard in Eden Garden, and the phantom of a light green Tao Fruit emerged.
